Ok, so we have pre-defined decisions. What if Bioware made a sequel two decades (20 years) after the events of ME3? With pre-defined outcomes?Anyone against it?Fallout 1, 2, 3, 4 and NV have this. Sure, you don't import a game to the next sequel but you have multiple ending choices in them, with very different versions of a Wasteland.Yet we have pre-defined decisions on the next game.Is that so much of a deal? It's a perennial debate topic here. The case against this was always that people would find having other choices be the canon to be a dealbreaker. But it's never been obvious who those players are. There aren't very many of them around here.
I think actually the problem is of another nature. Because MET allows the player to import the save onto the next episode people never payed attention that the games has a cannon story, regardless their opinion about it.
For example, the cannon choice regarding the fate of the rachni queen is Shepard killed her at Noveria. And Wrex was killed on Virmire.
You see countless arguments stating "not in my playthrough". Good for them, except in two games if you don't use a save file transfer, this is the default decision.
This is the cannon.
Part of the problem is exacerbated because Bioware never talked about this issue, stating the "story is the player's story".
If this is the case I would like for example having a choice not to work with Cerberus at the beginning of ME2. Remember, TIM even says if Shepard wanted after returning from Freedom Progress he or she could part ways with Cerberus. But that's not how it happens.
But because I don't like some events in a story they automatically don't exist?
Heck, even Tali is with me on this one: I don't think life is about what you deserve.

Err, Default states do not equal Canon. Default states allow to play a sequel without the necessity to have the previous game. Mass Effect has a lot of Cannons, but the Canon is limited to: ME1: Shepard went to Eden Prime, lost Jenkins defused the Bombs and interacted with the beacons Shep found Tali, became Spectre and got the Normandy, after that went to Feros, Noveria, and Therum. Shep *did* encounter Cerberus in ME1. Even if a save import without these events is imported there are instances implying otherwise. Shepard went to Virmire, Ilos and later defeated Saren. ME2: Shep went to all Freedom's Progress, the initial four Squadmate missions, the Collector Cruiser and dead Reaper. After that S/He went through the Omega 4 Relay. ME3: Reaper Invasion. MEA: Arc Departure and Nexus Uprising. (Likely also Pathfinder visiting Aya, Kadara, Archon Ship and Meridian.)
Apart from some details, such as always being Bffs with Liara, this is the canon of ME. And no, nothing of ME3 (apart from the Reaper invasion) is canon as there is nothing outside of ME3 referencing it. At least IIRC the BW stance was that Shep dying in ME2 was a a realistic possibility.
As for the original Topic. I'd hate to have my choices completely ignored. I find that one of the strongest appeals of the ME franchise has always been the save import feature, and i very much hope for an Andromeda sequel making use of that again.

IIRC the Refuse clip is actually consistent with Shepard dying in ME2. Joker turns the SR-2 over to the Alliance, they pick up Liara on Mars, proceed with the mission -- and fail. Sort of like the Darkspawn Chronicles version of the DA:O timeline.

Sort of like the Darkspawn Chronicles version of the DA:O timeline. I imagine if we saw a Darkspawn Chronicles equivalent, the SR2 would be a Cerberus ship, since TIM gets it back if Shepard dies.
