What should BioWare do now with Mass Effect?

I voted other. ME should be given a proper Viking funeral, lit on fire and put out to sea.

That's a lot of Andromeda support.

The funny thing on this site is that when one reads the comments in most threads one could think that a majority hated the game and then in every poll MEA gets good grades or wins by a mile. So despite its flaws, the majority of fans here seems to think that continuing what they started with this game is the way to go. So on to correct the flaws I would say.

They should buy themselves back from EA first

I voted "other" because I honestly don't know. I'm not feeling the need for another Mass Effect game at the moment. Ryder's job is done, mankind has a new home in the Andromeda galaxy. Sure, not all of the story's loose ends have been taken care of, but I'm not that interested in them.

If BioWare were to make a new Mass Effect game with amazing characters and a great story - something shorter but more memorable than Andromeda - I wouldn't care much in which galaxy it was set.

MEA2 is doomed to failure. Doesn't matter if they make it awesome, if MEA1 didn't resonate enough to justify DLC, it can't justify a sequel. I couldn't complete the first one and I'm not alone, there are youtubers out there who built their channels on the MET who couldn't complete it. Within my own circle of friends, only 2 out of 8, all massive Mass Effect fans, completed it. Even if this small sample size is not representative of the larger ME fan community it is still significant.

Here's a simple way of looking at it it:
If you are a Mass Effect fan and you liked MEA, you would likely buy a future Mass Effect game even if unconnected to MEA.
If you are a Mass Effect fan who didn't like MEA you are unlikely to buy a future Mass Effect game if it is connected to MEA.

The answer is obvious, a Mass Effect game unconnected to MEA will sell more units than one that is. It can command a higher budget and development priority. Trying to push MEA2 out the door, already budgeted under the assumption that it is going sell significantly worse than MEA1, would in all probability mean a worse game than MEA1 and nail the coffin lid shut on the franchise once and for all.

I wouldn't be counting those chickens just yet. A lot of people are seriously pissed about the way they dropped support for this game, and their trust in any future titles has been shaken.


That may be true for those who really resisted going to Andromeda in the first place. The people who still want ME games set in TMW only.

As for the rest, I think that if BioWare fixed most of the perceived flaws in MEA and took a different approach to its sequel, a lot of people who hated MEA would be willing to give it a shot.

Bioware should knuckle down and make ME:4 that gives players the option to start the game playing in a galaxy predicated on the choice you made at the end of ME:3 and then continue the series.
