I want a new IP. A singleplayer RPG.
MEA should never have been made. They killed the franchise with the trilogy's ending. Obviously they made MEA not knowing what to do with it. The game had zero creative vision imo. A cringe worthy rehash.
When MEA was first announced I HATED the idea of going to another galaxy and thought the game was going to be a lame cash grab. Five years in development isn't a cash grab but the result was even worse than what I expected upon first hearing of a new Mass Effect game.
I wouldn't have bought any DLC anyway.
I really wanted to like MEA, though. I even got pretty hyped for a while. But now I just want to pretend the game never happened.
Would I buy another Mass Effect game if made by Edmonton? Maybe. But after all the bad blood I don't know if that's a good idea at this point. They'd have to knock out an amazing game to win people back.
Much better to develop a new IP. I was so stoked for the new IP they kept mentioning for years until they revealed what Anthem is. And now I wonder if we'll even get a conclusion to Dragon Age or if Bioware is being completely absorbed into EA's online MP money printing machine.
I'll keep an eye on Anthem though. Perhaps Bioware can work some magic and invent a cool blend of storytelling and multiplayer that's a lot of fun to play. ME3MP was my first and only online gaming experience. I made an exception for my favorite developer and had sooo much fun. So I'll try to be open minded about Anthem. I've enjoyed plenty of games that aren't RPGs.
That said, I wish for Bioware to create a new amazing RPG setting to explore that has a lot of STORIES to tell, not loot to grind. I want to feel the magic again that I felt when I first played ME1. And DAO to a lesser degree.
I still have SOME hope that the people at Bioware Edmonton still haven't lost their creative vision. Even if Anthem is not for me, DA4 will show if the magic is gone or if MEA was a one time mistake. One bad game doesn't make me hate Bioware, just disappointed and a bit worried.
I don't much care about the future of Mass Effect at this point.

ME:T VR.... with lots more renegade interrupts obviously! Anyone with VR kit seriously going to tell me they don't want to pull out a Carnifex, feel the haptic response as it deploys and shove it in some mouthy Salarians face?

The tone of the next Mass Effect game has to be serious. Doesn't matter if it's in Andromeda or in one of the three Milky Way parallel universes after ME3, it just has to be serious again. No more goofy conversations, no more lacking consequences and we should be fine.
Voted for continuing with MEA2, because IMO the setting isn't the problem if the writing is good.

I'd say: either release the IP to the public domain, for fans to create their own games and expand the lore as they see fit, or return the IP to its original creator (Drew Karpyshyn).

Go the route of Bethesda and release a creation kit with each game. Could you imagine...

Bioware will reboot the series in a few years. The Andromeda name is simply too toxic for them to touch again. Andromeda 2 will just bring up flash backs of the poorly made first game, which would be a bad move in terms of marketing. There is zero chance we see a sequel to Andromeda. It's always curious to me how people think that a reboot of the original trilogy would automatically be a good thing. Didn't say I thought it was a good thing, but it is the smarter move. Fans have warm and fuzzy feelings about the original trilogy. Andromeda simple didn't have the same fanfare.

I want a new IP. A singleplayer RPG. Gotta agree this is probably the best option. I don't anticipate they will even try to continue the Andromeda story with another installment, I'd say that is out the window. They might look at revisiting the Milky Way, whether a sequel to ME3 or some spinoff. A reboot would just seem, to me at least, to be a really uninspired cash grab. I would love to see another SP RPG come out of Bioware (outside of DA and the fantasy setting). Going to be a while before we find out if that is even on their minds though.

Go the route of Bethesda and release a creation kit with each game. Could you imagine... Frostbite 3 does not work well when it comes to modding. Not to mention, nobody offers the same support for modding that BGS does. CDPR tried to emulate BGS's approach for TW2, but they abandoned that effort for TW3 as they decided to focus their efforts on Cyberpunk 2077.

It may not be fair or reasonable, but BioWare has a long history of excellence that it must always compete with. At the very least, I'd like BioWare to learn from this lesson and make an effort to avoid this ever happening again in the future with any of their games. I hope Mass Effect returns, and if it so happens to be Andromeda 2, I also hope that BioWare blows our minds with what they do next. That's all we really can do now as Mass Effect fans and BioWare fans. Exact. Bioware is a creator of intense emotions. Create what gives us the chance to escape from the real world sometimes not very enjoyable. Its games have a sense and purpose that in almost every other is not there. His characters become your friends feel part of the game itself. But I'm sure all this is already losing the road. I do not think Anthem will be this kind of game and I also fear for DA4. I don't think this will really be a problem with Dragon Age, but I'm certain that Anthem will basically be BioWare-flavored Destiny.

As BioWare is going to have their hands full with Anthem & DA for some time to come, and a pretty divided fanbase over where the series should go next, maybe they should look at bringing ME to the small (or big) screen.
Production values have gotten to the point where you could do a Mass Effect series justice through HBO/Netflix/???. They could go with Shepard's story or one that parallels with it (perhaps occasionally crossing paths with it). Another idea might be a series based on the First Contact War (Anderson's story?).
A big budget ME movie might be riskier, but also an option.
Might be a way to help re-energize the franchise before looking at making a new game.

I don't think the MEverse would appeal to me nearly as much if I'm just a passive observer rather than actually interacting with it, even if it is essentially just an elaborate flow chart.

First step. Fire everyone associated with MEA, or at least strip them of any power to make decisions.
Hire talented people. Headhunt Rockstar, CDPR, Bethesda, and Naughty Dog.
Then First Contact War.

I don't much care about the future of Mass Effect at this point. There's no reason other than outright negligence and incompetence why another Mass Effect couldn't have worked perfectly fine without Shepard. It was the endless stream of memorable characters that made the original trilogy so great and where the ending fell down was the abandonment of it's wider character focus, pinning the narrative burden on Shepard only to serve as a vehicle to deliver a bold horrendous plot twist to the detriment of the story. Andromeda was completely devoid of original memorable characters and dialog which is why it failed so miserably in comparison to ME2 which succeeded on the strength on it's characters and writing alone despite a similarly poor antagonist and central conflict, Andromeda had nothing holding it up/together in comparison. Andromeda as a setting was never the problem, it could still work in the right hands. Let's just hope we look back at MEA as a failed stop gap during a difficult transitional period and the next Edmonton game in the series is on the cards after Anthem and DA4 and it will be the follow-up the series needs it to be.

I have not beat Andromeda yet so I can really fully speak to the sequel part and I am not sure how another reboot would be received. Personally, I still think some kind of prequel game would be interesting. First Contact War, Rachni War, Krogan Rebellions, etc. though I guess the problem with anything pre first contact would be a lack of humans running around to play as.

People balk at anticlimactic endings, then push for an event in the MEU that is the embodiment of it.
If BioWare decides to snort a mix of ketamine and cocaine off their desks (Ketacaine!) and decide to make Mass Effect: Relay 314 Incident, it should end with a drunken karaoke of a human singing "Shanxi Boys" through the credits.

I would like to see a ME game set in a future Andromeda, but limited to one planet, maybe even one city. Grittier, darker. Basically, DA:Origins and put it on an ME planet setting. Totally new characters, new storyline.

Those are interesting ideas, but making Shepard the focus would be a mistake. You'd be making a canon Shepard (male or female), and that would be a quick way to upset a lot of the BioWare fan base. While I'm not opposed to a GOT-type Mass Effect series, or even a film, I'm not really sure that would necessarily repair the damage regarding the games. Not to mention, outside of gamers, nobody even knows what Mass Effect is. BioWare is probably just better off making a good game with the IP, rather than taking riskier ventures outside of their creative control. I doubt CDPR would even take the opportunity if given the chance. They prefer taking unknown properties and building them up, as is the case with The Witcher and now Cyberpunk 2077. Mass Effect would have expectations far too high and unreasonable. I would like to see a ME game set in a future Andromeda, but limited to one planet, maybe even one city. Grittier, darker. Basically, DA:Origins and put it on an ME planet setting. Totally new characters, new storyline. What you want is Cyberpunk, not a Space Opera. Luckily for you, CDPR is making Cyberpunk 2077.

Just have something going forward. Whether it is in Andromeda or the Milky Way. Take a look at what they did in the original trilogy for exploration. Ditch the huge maps but don't necessarily get rid of ground vehicles. Also design a game in the thirty to forty hour range not the 100 hour range. Cut out the fat. But whatever you do DON'T AXE THE FRANCHISE COMPLETELY. There aren't a whole lot of options for people like space operas in gaming. Mass Effect was not only a good one but an original one as well. There is so much more of the ME universe I want to explore.

If it continues, continue Andromeda. The idea has promise. Just do more alien shit and have a cohesive vision before you start. And pick an engine you're good at/is easy to use and modify to your needs, not just one all the cool kids are using.
Also Lexi romance or GTFO.

They should patch and DLC the shit out of Andromeda to shape it into full and logical base for future sequels. Leaving this game like that is asking for hate when the next installment is shown.
