Today's announcement is being exaggerated.

Creative positions within bioware can want to continue mass effect all they want, but ultimately that doesn't matter. It's the suits at EA that greenlights games, not those people you quoted tweets off.

Today it was announced that Andromeda would not be getting DLC.

That's all that was announced.

This was not an announcement that there would not be a sequel.

This was not an announcement that the franchise is dead.

I know a lot of people are disappointed and worried, and need to work it out of their systems, but keep in mind what we were actually told.

Maybe it's true that there won't be any more Mass Effect games. On the other hand, maybe there will be more and some of the planned DLCs for this game will be worked into the main plot of the next one. Bioware has done that before.

The point is, WE. DON'T. KNOW. 

We know that Andromeda will not get DLC. Nothing more, and nothing less.

Actually we do know, both Casey Hudson and Mike Gamble have tweeted that Mass Effect will continue.

MASS EFFECT is not dead, MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA is.
