The worst bit is Michael Gambles quote. Casey Hudson's makes it clear he'd like to work on it again but that's only a desire to. Michael Gamble's "..." and the at the end all make it feel like he knows something we don't. Though I'm not expecting anything as there is nothing to come, I'm certain some people will take that as a hint towards some kind of content. I do feel they should be a little more careful with how they respond.

That's not what these quotes say. These sound more to me like, we love Mass Effect and we hope that EA gives us a chance to continue the franchise in the future. Yep, but some people in despair will try to find different meaning of those quotes. Some will even use them as a some kind of "confirmation".... sad. I'm not in despair. It's a video game. Anyway, like I said before, couple this with EA (in their earnings statement) saying Mass Effect had a future and they liked the way Bioware was handling it and folks who want more Mass Effect are clearly going to get more. Stick to arguments, not attacking how you think folks are feeling. That's guesswork at best and doesn't address the points that are made.

Actually we do know, both Casey Hudson and Mike Gamble have tweeted that Mass Effect will continue. That's not what these quotes say. These sound more to me like, we love Mass Effect and we hope that EA gives us a chance to continue the franchise in the future. Coupled with the EA earnings statements, where they said they liked how Bioware was handling Mass Effect now and that Mass Effect had a future and the picture becomes clear that there will be more Mass Effect.

That may range from a full AAA game to a card game. ME the animated series. ME the coloring book. ME dextro cereal. Those are continuations. Your argument it's weak equivocation to slime yourself out of any definitive answer. Mass Effect has a future. The bravery on this one.

Sequels or no the reputation is dead to many and ruined for others. I myself don't even care for anything more out of the franchise, what's to say the same thing doesn't happen again?

According to EA's CFO Jorgensen Mass Effect Andromeda contributed a significant amount to digital sales. "Digital net sales were $681 million, a new record for the first quarter, and up $113 million on the year-ago period. The increase reflects strength in live services, together with our mobile business. In addition, Mass Effect: Andromeda was a significant contributor. Full game PC and console downloads generated net sales of $111 million, 32% higher than last year. This was driven by Mass Effect: Andromeda sales captured in the quarter."www.gamezone.com/news/mass-effect-andromeda-labeled-a-significant-contributor-to-ea-s-record-breaking-digital-sales-numbers-3456111Didn't people complain that after DAI came out that would be the last of that franchise and they are making DA4. All the announcement says is that there will be no DLC, patches or updates for MEA and that stories from the Andromeda galaxy will continue to be told in other forms. Nothing about canceling future ME games. We know Mass Effect is on ice because of Kotaku's article. Although I expect some people to be crazy enough to not believe it still, it's clear now for any reasonable people it was accurate. Mass Effect is not dead forever however, Jason never said that. I fully expect we will see another ME game in the future. It will just take a long while (although Casey Hudson return might means sooner rather than latter).

Yeah, my trust is nil at this point. How did a five year wait end up with this mess? And for contrast, Hello Games is still updating No Man's Sky a year later. EA didn't even give us six months. Yeah, trust is gone, definitely.

To me the EA earnings report basically a bunch of PR talk (for ME:A at least). They went in to details about every games contribution and future except ME:A. With the past 3 Mass Effect games when they praised their sells it was always followed sales numbers from the devs. ME:A was the one game they didn't do this with.

Coupled with the EA earnings statements, where they said they liked how Bioware was handling Mass Effect now and that Mass Effect had a future and the picture becomes clear that there will be more Mass Effect. I wouldn't say its clear, but I also wouldn't say it is unlikely. If we do see ME again it is going to be a pretty long wait I think. The Edmonton teams have been centered on DA4 and Anthem. Throwing the studio a 3rd IP in the middle of that is going to take a pretty big change in plans, maybe even bringing in additional people and resources, and basically starting something from scratch. At a minimum it would probably be another 5 years wait after Anthem is released.

Look, at it's best times, ME:A will still go down as my number two fuckup of all time. Right in between Brad McQuaid and Destiny : Live Long And Wonder Where The Story Went.
It was just a clusterfuck from the beginning. They had no vertical slice of the game. This means that they had nothing to test shit on. They didn't even have multiplayer levels of the game.
Is it one that I'm happy to tell? Hell no. But I will tell it, loud and clear to anyone willing to listen. To avoid this kind'a shit from ever happening again.

Mass Effect is not dead forever however, Jason never said that. I fully expect we will see another ME game in the future. It will just take a long while (although Casey Hudson return might means sooner rather than latter). Bolded: yeah not much different from what I said. No more game content in MEA but nothing about canceling ME. The other part - hold on hope your not calling me unreasonable- if so I considered that a personal attack. As for Kotaku, I take that will a grain of salt- don't care much for them. I'm adopting wait and see and not jumping the gun. When they do another ME game I'll buy it. MEA was enjoyable, not as much as MET for me but still I liked it. I don't mean to offend anyone. But I do believe at this point it's unreasonable to still doubt Kotaku's articles. They have been 100% accurate. Even if someone didn't believe them back then, now I'd say it's more about pure denial or butthurt than proper skepticism or anything like that.

I cannot support any future MEA game. I have no trust left. I can't understand why Bioware has chosen to screw their fans. Comics and Novels are not what I signed up for when I purchased the game.
Bioware is under no obligation to produce any dlcs... I get that. But they sold a game that screamed for one or two dlcs and then for some reason chose to pack it in. They didn't even have the courtesy to explain why to their fan base... just like when they closed their forum. Give me, your paying customer, at least the respect of knowing why. This was a fun game with lots of potential I had a blast playing it. The writing, acting, story, characters were all fine... not brilliant but just fine and entertaining. Betrayed, dismayed, played...

All the announcement says is that there will be no DLC, patches or updates for MEA and that stories from the Andromeda galaxy will continue to be told in other forms. Nothing about canceling future ME games. I don't think the franchise is dead...one mediorce game out of the entire series does not spell doom for the franchise. That earnings statement can be a bit misleading only because we don't know the parameters around what EA told shareholders what they expected Andromeda to sell. Whereas with Square and their fiasco with the "Tomb Raider Reboot" i believe square told shareholders that game would sell 10 million copies, when i believe it sold 5 million and square considered the game a failure since it didn't meet their projected earnings number. In reality 5 million copies for a newly reinvented reboot is amazingly impressive. It just means that all of this points to if Andromeda made EA a profit for them and it's hard for them not to commit to DLC when they stated Andromeda contributed to their fiscal numbers. So idk...i guess what people need to understand too is that these patches that Bioware have been doing are NOT cheap. I guess they felt that the game couldn't recover from the initial backlash and when they re-released that free trial for the game, the numbers showed that people didn't care much for it or that the patches didn't have much impact on the game overall, which probably points to what was the major issue with this game anyway outside of it's animation issues....inspired story and characters. Ultimately they probably just cut their loses and figured creating a DLC would result in them losing more money than profiting from it.

Betrayed, dismayed, played... I don't understand this sentiment. Bioware's not an independent company. EA shuttered Bioware Montreal and gave what was left of MEA to Edmonton, which is busy on two yet-unfinished games. They can't divert resources to make DLC for a game that is in MEA's position. It just isn't economical. Montreal made a Mass Effect game that did not live up to what EA wanted, and that spelled MEA's doom. They didn't betray you, they just failed. And they no longer exist due to that failure.

Dragon is a series, ME was a trilogy that ended. With Andromeda they were trying to reboot the franchise in an entirely new setting after the trilogy of a very popular character ended. They couldn't afford a mediocre game, they needed one that was highly successful to re-establish traction for the franchise. I don't know the exact sales numbers for this game, but if most of the sales were early off the popularity of the original series and then they just fell off the table once the games was out then releasing another game may not be the best decision. Because the next game won't be selling off the popularity of the original trilogy it will be selling off the image of Andromeda. EA may just say that players may not accept this game without Shepard. This isn't like DA where all the games are built on the world and not the protagonist. You can have a game that wasn't received well like DA:2 regroup with a new protagonist and keep going.

I'm actually surprised there isn't at least one dlc, i thought the assets would already be mostly done. In retrospect, looking back at how unpolished the game was at release and how much flak it got for it, i guess it makes sense that any plans for dlc was canned.
I'm surprised how fast EAware is willing to drop a franchise just like that, even if it isn't doing as well as expected, instead of trying to salvage what they can from it. There is no way i'm buying an EAware game at release again.
