Today's announcement is being exaggerated.

What's wrong with hope?

The franchise right now is dead. There is no studio working on a new game and there probably won't be for 1-2 years at the very least, IF they decide to bring it back. We've also been told that a major DLC/sequel hook will now be resolved in a novel.

Treat Mass Effect as dead and you'll be much happier for it. Holding onto hope for years that it'll be brought back will only bring disappointment.

And neither one of those post sound definitive. I"m pretty sure the Dead Space devs feel the same way to this day but doesn't mean its going to happen.

I'll continue to play the MET and ME:A like I have been for better parts of a decade. The announcement today can't retroactively make me un-enjoy what I've already enjoyed from all four games. I don't understand the need for extremes...it's just a game.

What was i saying last week to counter this? I said I thought they'd give us SP DLC but I certainly never guaranteed it because I have no control over it.

The setting did not hold together once Shepard die. It was too thin to support the serialization. The folks who did not like the game -and for the project to be shelved, unfortunately it had to have been a universal rejection -were responding to the setting getting too old, but not captivating enough to be wanting more of the same. If they have to make more new races etc to keep the interest alive, they might as well make a brand new world with the fresh conflict about to destroy that world, etc, etc, etc.

Right now, tbh, I just hope that BioWare manages to happen upon a winning concept that will prevent them from going under. After losing Obsidian after NWN2, losing Bio will mean that there will be no more games with the party, customized protagonist, choices etc. Nobody else currently puts up money for it.
 
I'd rather Bio survives even if it means cutting ME loose. I saw them move from Faerun to Thedas, from SW to ME, and I am okay with a Bio game in a new setting, hells, often that's a draw.

I am not okay with no more Bio games at all.

Funny thing about going back to the MET, it's the PS3 controller in itself that keeps me back a little bit. Goddamn is that thing a cheap POS compared to the PS4's. 

Right? It's like they made it with the same plastic integrity as a $1 pop gun at Dollar Tree.

IDGAF.   As long as it plays well on M+K, I'm good.
