Why are you using two different Normandies as a single ship for the purpose of the comparison? SR-2 can't land. Anywhere. Anyhow.
The Normandy only can't land on high gravity words. Because his size, it's more pratical to deploy a shuttle than landing the entire ship in low gravity worlds.
But if it's necesssary, the SR-2 can enter in a planet's atmosphere and land.

The Normandy never lands in the entirety of the Shepard Trilogy. They hovered close to the surface, but never actually touched down. Even when if they could have they would have like the STG base on Virmire. I remember thinking it landed on virmire when they're unloading the nuke. It was actually hovering? Yep. During that whole scene no part of the Normandy is actually touching the ground other than the end of the ramp.

Hmmm, maybe that one doesn't really count?

Hmmm, maybe that one doesn't really count? I say they count since the ship is shown as still being able to lift off in both cases. Also, even though there is no support shown on Virmire, there is also no indication that the ship is actually hovering as the engines are clearly not running while it's at the STG base... so what exactly is causing it to hover? Also, Kirrahe clearly used the term "landed in the middle of a hot zone."

Kind of a silly topic, though. A ship that can hover forever doesn't need to land.
But honestly, would it have killed the ME1 devs to have put some landing gear on the thing?

The Normandy design didn’t seem like something they really thought about when it came to those details, especially since beyond Virmire, there were always docking clamps to suspend it from. They needed some landing gear magic, apparently.

If they would make a sequel to ME3, I would like to start with the new protagonist in London being in a ground fight with the classic Reaper forces, trying to survive and save as many as possible. Then just when it looks like my position gets overrun (think of the 5 waves in Arrival), the Crucible fires and I can get out of the dire situation. Looking up at the sky I'm like "WTF just happened?". Then "Vigil" starts playing, the monitor goes black, Mass Effect 4 shows up on the screen and they push forward in time to put me in any post-reaper situation they like to start my hero's journey. That's pretty good actually. I'd totally go for something like that.
