The fans had nothing to do with Bioware's failure. Bioware were cutting a section off and they were willing to deal with their angst. The reason Bioware failed is they again targeted an exploration based game which they are shit at. And they got hammered, and deservedly so. And I suspect the reason they're chasing exploration type games is because they're chasing the big dollars. They said before they were targeting the magical 10 million figure. Chasing big bucks and straying away from what they're good at, they are not CDProjekt or Bethesda. |

I suspect this is the real side effect of being under EA. Maximising profits means releasing what sells not what they're good at. Mass Effect, KOTOR, Jade Empire all linear experiences. But Inquisition wanted to be Witcher and ME:A wanted to be No Man's Sky. Why? Because money. *Tsk*

The suggestion that it's the fault of the fans or even the internet memers is just ludicrous. Fans are not doormats. And the memes weren't baseless. They came straight from the game. If MEA hadn't been filled with lousy moments and elements the memes never would have happened. There was no "My face is tired" meme from some other game because MEA did that.
And the idea of it being the fans' responsibility to bolster a mediocre game to greater success is demonstrably stupid. It's the job of the company to sell their game, and the fans have no responsibility one way or the other. I'm a fan of the original trilogy but I have no obligations of any kind to aid EA in selling their wares.

It may not be soley the fans' fault, but it's hard to deny that the reaction was massively overblown. The thing is, why are the critics being let off the hook for being far more harsh on this game when many of those very same critics lavished unwarranted praise on games that were obviously just as flawed or flat out garbage? Considering the rabid gluteus sniffing game "journalists" indulge in with their subjects of criticism this needs to be explored within the discussion. |

Without the goodwill that DA2's DLC generated, DAI would have been in a much weaker position. By either luck or good judgment, they pulled off a GOTY. But it was still their first Frostbite outing, and had PS3/XB360 had better recording facilities, there could have been plenty of memes had people been more pissed. They ducked a bullet.  Damn man that's some cgi high cheese, there.  |

I do blame the derpy internet meme loving hate brigade. They have had this franchise in their crosshairs for a very long time. You can see some of them in this very thread posting their idiotic memes. They hate the idea of a space opera RPG franchise existing in the first place. They were determined to hate anything this franchise did back when we were referring to it as ME Next on the old forums before we knew anything about MEA. Lol, so if Andromeda had 10/10 scores and the game was great and polished, these same people would come out of the woodwork to trash the game? Don't be silly. Yeah. This has been going on for a while now: - DA2 switches to action combat - DAI goes for open world, MMO sidequests when the game isn't suited for them - Tactical cam is made useless - Character tactics are removed - ME franchise is given to a B-team so the A-team can make an action game to rival Destiny 2 - MEA goes for the same game design that was ill-suited to DAI I don't know who is forcing Bioware into all of these horrible decisions but it's pretty messed up. I hate to be a Debbie downer but it looks to me like they're just being made to go after whatever the suits thinks sells or they'll just let the ship sink if it can't sail the way they want it to.  |
