I liked MEA but it wasn't on par with the trilogy,
and bugs/animations aside, that's the heart of the issue, I think...
Some folk liked the Omega DLC, but I would have preferred Citadel DLC at game-length more than that.

Whining is what gamers love to do the most. Every big name game has numerous people complaining about it all over the Internet. Blaming this mess on memes and Youtube videos is just dumb. If most people who initially bought had loved it, played the whole of it and told their friends how good it is, there would have been plenty of DLCs in the works by now. But it didn't happen because the game is just not that good and that's Bioware and EA's fault. They released an unfinished game which is horrendously written with a gameplay which is fun at first but incredibly repetitive and not as polished as the ones of their main competitors in the genre.

BioWare failed to mention that upon release MEA was essentially a public beta and your $60 bought you the right to beta test it. If you were expecting a finished product and got irritated and complained, then you are responsible for destroying the game and killing the franchise. Makes Sense TM |

They released an unfinished game which is horrendously written with a gameplay which is fun at first but incredibly repetitive and not as polished as the ones of their main competitors in the genre.
This is in principle a really good idea, and very fair to gamers.
What I cannot bring myself to understand is how anyone could greenlight that with the state the game was in at that time (and mostly still is). There were so many unavoidable and glaring bugs and weaknesses, ranging from animation to writing, that whoever decided this, was either clueless or delusional. The most egregious one, the "my face is tired" conversation, was (and is) something that no player could possibly avoid, because it was a need to have conversation in order to progress the story. This is not some obscure side content.
This event alone tells you that the project management and QA of MEA were a monumental failure. |

My point being: It should be clear to any gamer who plays these first 10 hours that there are at least a couple of issues that desperately need to be fixed before a release. It is like saying "construction of your house is complete" when the garage has just collapsed. |

MEA didn't have that, instead it had a cutszene where Peebee fires her pistol backwards.
I imagine EA and Bioware managers looking at that and saying "do we really want to pay these people to do a DLC?". And I think they came up with the known answer before you called.

MEA needed a project manager who would have said ""so let me play that first 10 hours you are going to release for free on Origins" and then would have come back the next day saying "give us 6 more months to polish this, believe me, it's going to be a good investment, because, you know, of how the internet works, everyone will know about the bad stuff in a day", and would have had the standing with EA to get the deadline postponed, and the money and the people necessary.
MEA didn't have that, instead it had a cutszene where Peebee fires her pistol backwards.

The release virtually at the last order call of the fiscal year points to EA and Bioware knowing what they were doing. There obviously wasn't an option for a delay. |
