www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-provides-hope-for-mass-effect-remasters/1100-6442698/Excerpt from article written about a year ago: "EA Studios boss Patrick Soderlund spoke about the subject with Game Informer at Gamescom. Asked if anything has changed for EA in terms of making remasters, such as one of the Mass Effect trilogy, Soderlund said, "What's changed is that there is proof in the market that people want it, maybe more than there was when we spoke [in 2015]. There were some that did it before, but I think there is even more clear evidence that this is something that people really want." Game Informer also mentioned Activision, which initially avoided remastering games but has begun to produce them more recently (with mixed results). "The honest answer is that we are absolutely actively looking at it," Soderlund said of remasters. "I can't announce anything today, but you can expect us most likely to follow our fellow partners in Activision and other companies that have done this successfully." So, this story was over a year ago and who knows what "actively looking at it" really means. ME1 would turn ten years old on Nov 20th. A sequel being in the works is in doubt or a long, long way away from happening. I would have said the same thing even if there was dlc, but I think we would have gotten a sequel. With BioWare's worst post-launch support of any game they've ever made and the fact they didn't even care to give us a significant last content drop for sp is something to be said about the state of the Andromeda universe getting a sequel and Mike Gamble saying he hopes to return to the Mass Effect universe and not Andromeda; as well as his Twitter bio only stating that he produced the "recent" M.E. games. One I would say is just poor wording, but having it be two? I don't think it's a coincidence-especially given that it's his Twitter bio. That being said, if this were to happen... I just don't want a port though; which would then take time to make. I would like to see it be made in Frostbite 3 and if possible a completely new ending. I know EA has said they would rather make new games then remasters, however with the franchise being in doubt, this I could see/want in the next ten years or so.

I think the only one they really need to remaster would be ME1. Remaster it with ME3's resources.....BAM! = Bank.

That would be a remake, though, wouldn't it? Would still fall under a remaster. They all run on the Unreal 3 engine if I remember right? It would take a lot a work to pull it off but...

You could just give ME2 a HD upgrade and change the lighting a little for ME3. ME1 would by far need the most to remaster.
ME1
-HD -Bring over the shooting mechanics -Upgrade the powers -Change the inventory and loot system -Change the Mako mechanics
I'd throw a LOT of money at an upgraded ME1 with ME3's resources

If they plan to give it out free like Skyrim did, sure. Otherwise, why the heck would I pay again for games I already own and enjoy. I want new games, not the same thing with updated graphics.

You can't really call Skyrim a remaster. They just add a texture pack (basically) and went from 32 to 64 and in doing so made it to were a lot a mods will never be brought over. SKSE still hasn't made a release for it and may never at this point.

I'd be in agreement that ME1 is really the only one needing a remaster, however using ME3s assets to do so would kill ME1s beauty for me, I don't call ME2+3 gears of war shooters for nothing 👍 Just up the graphics and call it a day.

(sigh) people really can't move on or what? I am so not on board with remakes and remastered of perfectly good old movies and games. I own them, I've played it. I want new things, new adventures, new characters. I am too young to be stuck in the past.
The only title at all that I would buy remastered is Jade Empire, because it was missed by so many players and b/c the graphics are dated, and even then, I'd rather have another game set in the setting and setting expanded.

I'm different in that regard but understand your opinion on it. I personally loved the remaster of Metro 2033, Bioshock 1-2 and Divinity Original Sin Enhanced. It occupied a lot of my time while other titles I wanted to play were still in development.

I have Prey, Technomancer, Assassin Creed, Tyranny and Greedfall I want to play in the coming two years, and that's more than I have time for. I also can't tear myself from MP... anyway, I do not want to miss the new games because I am replaying the old ones 3+ times or sinking too much time into grinding.

Remasters aren't necessarily because people are stuck in the past. Most tend to happen 10 years+ after the originals. It's quick easy money for the most part for the developers and it's a way for newer fans to try the originals if they're newcomers, plus we've exceeded multiple console generations by that point where playing something so old can feel fresh again(especially if you haven't played it for 10 years), games aren't made like they used to be. It's why FF7 has a lot of hype, MCC was hyped but ultimately bombed because *broken* and the newer resident evil games are garbage compared to the older ones. I guess you could say some could be stuck in the past, but I wouldn't blame them if the past is better than the present. I still share the mindset that I'd rather progress into the newer games, but you'd see me also be in the camp that newer games tend to be bad in general.

Maybe I need to put it in perspective that I'm 40. I've been gaming since the Atari and still play games dating back to the NES. Story related rpg's were made better back then imo. The Fan made Ocarina of Time remake on the Unreal 4 has me pretty hyped.

You could try and bring the ME trilogy to Frostbite but that would probably be quite expensive. The ME1 remaster idea looks more plausible right now.

At this point, I've played the trilogy and its subsequent add-ons so many times, it would have to be dirt cheap for me to bother. Since I still have a functioning PS3 with both the trilogy + all DLC's and the first two Dragon Age games, I don't have much incentive to care about any kind of remaster, and little interest in retreading the old plot to get behind some kind of remake.
On the subject of a remake, why does anyone really want this? For all the trilogy's problems, I was under the impression that people liked it a lot. I know there's a lot of shit that can get cut/pared down in refining a retelling of that story, but you just know that some things are lost forever (like Zaeed :sob: ), but the "magic" of learning the darker history of the Milky Way is pretty much spent.
I'd rather BioWare create any kind of new singleplayer IP with a totally new world to build over recycling an old one and not even moving forward in time. My preference would be science fiction of some sort, like maybe some kind of Batman-Beyond-ish type of city backdrop, but I'll take what I can get so long as I can fight baddies and woo NPC's.
