Eh... Solas did walk out on you during the vanilla Inquisition as well in an odd cutscene. Or was it edited into the main game after Trespasser was released? To tell you the truth I wanted my money back really badly after playing Trespasser. So, perhaps, it's for the best that I would never know what happened between Jien, Ryder and Benefactor. Interesting. It was that bad?

The thing is I didn't like mea but I feel the same way. If EA/Bioware cannot maintain the necessary professionalism needed from companies and do not care about their products why should we? They should have gave the game a closure before moving on, leaving the things you started half finished is a very childish thing to do.

The first time I played ME3, I had not played The Arrival DLC, and had no idea why Shepard was in custody and decommissioned at the beginning of the game. It's not canon. If you never played Arrival and didn't load a save from someone who played it, you get a different line from Anderson, (The shit you pulled) instead of the Batarian line.

Even though I didn't particularly care for Andromeda I still found this news a bit sad, the finality of it all. It a perfect world I would wish for this to be the end of Mass Effect and to see BioWare develop a new single player oriented space opera "RPG" at some point. But you could probably count the number of new AAA single player IP's released by EA over the last ten years on one hand. So its all wishful thinking on my part.

My wife says the saddest thing she ever witnessed was my face after the initial Kotaku reporting. I recognise quality reporting, so was able to make peace with it some time ago.

To tell you the truth I wanted my money back really badly after playing Trespasser. So, perhaps, it's for the best that I would never know what happened between Jien, Ryder and Benefactor. Interesting. It was that bad? Well, it's only my opinion, but overall, as I trudged through Inquisition, I went from assessing it as: "hang in there! It's gonna end any hour now! We've gotten that far...we can't give up now!" To "oh, look, it's almost interesting!. Trespasser methodically identified, extracted and ground into dust every tidbit of "good stuff" I managed to salvage during my martyred treck through the dull wasteland of Inquisition. Trespasser was my ME3 ending, and I have liked ME3 endings. So, it was like getting a semi decent "end" and then getting it revised into a scream-inducing retcon. Maybe Andromeda was an ME fan fiction, but it was a fan fiction that was fun to read. Trespasser was a fanfiction of the sort of "100 Unfunny Ways to Kill the Char I Hated" for a char you've liked. It was an insult to injury and *then* we got to the real torture....

To me it seemed like this was a long time coming so the news came as no surprise. I thought a large number of active posters were grasping at straws and maintaining completely unrealistic expectations. Sure there were a few false rumors like the Sinclair hoax but I thought EA's silence on the topic was too strategic and went on for too long. What was depressing/painful for me to see was people go on and on about possible DLCs and what they would like to see.

Except that the dying Batarian is still there to blame Shepard for blowing up the relay. Balak also shows up, even if the player did not complete ME1's Bring Down the Sky.

What was depressing/painful for me to see was people go on and on about possible DLCs and what they would like to see. You have that with any game as long as there is an internet. Even with games where the company outright stated this would be the one and only DLC, people went on the petition for new ones, as if they really had a say in the matter. I'm always mildly surprised over stuff like that, since the same people react differently with any other mundane business. They tend to humanize entertainment companies, as if they were friends, only waiting for their input, when in fact, business rules are always the same. Wether it's about toilet paper or games. Market research makes them tick, not the internet.

To be honest I haven't really been bothered by this news. It's a shame, but I'm not really overly upset about it. I suppose the fact that I haven't touched ME:A in a while probably contributes to that. I've sort of already moved on to other games at this point. I'm arguably more annoyed by Inquisition's DLC which puts the Inquisitor's "real ending" behind a second pay wall. That's just shoddy DLC practice in my eyes as I shouldn't have to pay $20 more to get the full ending to the game, which I consider that part of the full ending even if the Corypheus part is done by the end of the DA:I base game. If nothing else, I suppose this serves as a warning that people shouldn't buy a game on the hopes that there will be DLC. Buy it purely for the base game and nothing else, and if you get DLC then it's a nice bonus. Was it truly an ending to the story, though, or an appetizer/segue into the next one? DA2's Legacy DLC is also treated as canon, and introduces DAI's villain. The first time I played ME3, I had not played The Arrival DLC, and had no idea why Shepard was in custody and decommissioned at the beginning of the game. Granted, she'd worked with Cerberus during ME2, but Anderson was still supportive, the Council still offered limited support, and Hackett had even asked her to place a monument on the Normandy's crash site, so none of them seemed terribly upset with her. I guess I always figured she would turn the SR-2 over to the Alliance after the assault on the collector base and wash her hands of Cerberus. Also, note that LotSB (and other DLCs) are also treated as canon. I'm fine with, and even expect, DLC being canon. The problem I do have is that the Inquisitor's story in DA:I no longer feels complete without the $20 DLC. Trespasser relates back to the events of the main game just a bit too much to really be just an introduction into the next game. I do also think that Arrival was pretty stupid to put in a DLC as well, since it was an important story point in the trilogy that could leave people confused as to why Shep was being detained at the start of ME3. Had it just been about delaying the Reapers and the detaining part was included in the main game, it would have been fine. Lair of the Shadow Broker as well is fine as it can be explained with some dialogue with Liara telling Shep about how she took down the Shadow Broker if you didn't do it in ME2. DLC should be nice extras for people who enjoyed the game and want more before the sequel comes along. The base game shouldn't feel incomplete without them, and that's how I ultimately feel about Trespasser with DA:I.

To quote one of my favorite Radiohead songs, I am "let down and hanging around". I have played ME games more than any other in the past 2+ years, and they have gotten me through some difficult times. So, the possibility that the ME universe that I have taken to heart won't go on does leave me a bit sad. The logical and professional part of my brain understands, not the emotional. And I didn't play these games that casually, so that's not an option.
This doesn't ruin the games for me though, so I'll finish my second playthrough and probably come back to ME down the road. I'm not very inerested in Anthem from what I've seen so far.

Depressed? No. It's a video game. Am I a bit disappointed this is the end of the line for Andromeda? Sure. I would have liked to have seen BioWare Montreal try to redeem themselves and the game.

Honestly, yeah, a little. It's a loss. We had a future happiness in our minds, and it was taken away. There is some process of mourning there, even for a video game.
For those who have an emotional response to the characters, it's a little like their death. It's worse, in a way, because they aren't just dead, they are frozen. Lobotomized.
