If EA does nothing with Mass Effect, please sell it so someone who cares about the franchise. I sincerely doubt that they'd just bury the IP. With the likelihood of the rights actually being sold to an entirely different publisher being just about nil, I'm just hoping it doesn't return as a strictly MP game. Hopefully the success of strong SP campaigns from other games like HZD and even that one with the Polish monster hunter provide valuable lessons... :DD: |

Only after that backlash did they add on SP content for the sequel. I feel that it being Star Wars in and of itself makes it a special case. Star Wars is basically a deep pop culture well to yank tons of content out of and constantly pump out a new game, movie or animated series set in whatever era in that universe with whatever characters and people will eat that shit up. |

They should have ended the ME series with ME3. MEA should just have been called Andromeda. Any and all references to ME should have been left out. No ME races other than Human. Create a new story, with a background, new races, ect.. They would have had more freedom to do what they wanted with it. Having ME in the title creates an automatic comparison of the OT where story, characters, and dialog were the main focus of the game. MEA focus seemed to be counter to that with open world, world building, and combat taking priority. Aside from the bug ridden launch and crappy animations, the game failed to meet expectations with the new direction they took the franchise and reviews and rating showed that.
I don't want to see anything else from Bioware with any reference to ME in it.

I said the same thing about Konami when it concerned the "Silent Hill" series. that franchise was wallowing in mediocrosy before the development of "Silent Hills" or "P.T."...alot of folks was looking forward to what possibly might have been, then Konami abruptly kills the project. The franchise is now wrapped up in Pachinko machines that are very popular over in Japan....they are still making money off of the game in that capacity, but they are not making games for it anymore and would rather kill the IP itself than sell it. I don't think the mass effect series is anywhere near that scenario since the series still has a strong following, but just looking at EA's record...i too think they would rather kill this franchise than sell it.....EA has stated for years that "Dead Space" was just shelved for the time being and they completely dismantled Visceral and closed them down....granted the last Dead Space game wasn't the greatest, but it was still a solid title and the franchise itself still holds promise. Just make a good solid SP game the Mass Effect series is known for and everything else will follow....as with this latest in the Star Wars battlefield fisaco,..(didn't really follow the entire story behind that)......you see what happens when you try to put create profits and manage micro-transactions first instead of just creating a thrilling and enjoyable content. I understand these games are not cheap to make, but you cannot just create games and slap micro-transactions here and there to make money...actual content and depth matters....waiting to see how "Anthem" turns out.... |

If I'm going to hand over £50 for a game continuing a much loved franchise you would be absolutely correct in assuming I feel entitled to get what I pay for, not what I actually got, which was ME:Lite at best. What direction would you like to see EA/BioWare go with the franchise in the future? Direct sequel to Mass Effect: Andromeda. They need to finish that story before I trust them with a new one. Nah. Just like DC should have rebooted their universe instead of trying to remold Snyderverse. Mass Effect just needs to return to the Milkyway, get new writers. Hell Andromeda didn't even establish itself enough on it's own to warrant another game. They basically just reused a major plot point from Mass Effect 2. Characters are throw away too. I wouldn't mind Ryder returning, if they went with Andromeda. I actually like male Ryder. But I can live without the squadmates. Most of them didn't even have as much impact as supporting characters like joker, atleast not enough to care about them. I suppose the characters could be fixed with better writers but eh I wouldn't care if "muh huntress manuals" and "we got this" never returned. That's Cora and Liam in case people were wondering lol. I thought people were exaggerating about Cora and her asari huntress speak, until I replayed the game and relived it she literally goes on about it in most conversations and emails. That's literally her entire character. And Liam when he's not "we got this", "we can do it", "our team? the best eva" he's just being dumb or saying random ish. I absolutely hate his weird way of speaking, it's like he cuts off important context of a sentence. It's like some weird stupid version of Yoda. And how many times can one character say "we got this". There's a decent bro character under there, but the writers missed their mark. |
