While they do not alter the play style, there are a few very good mods for The Witcher (apart from some bugfixes that are needed). Here is a summary of what's available: www.kirmiziperfect.com/installing-best-mods-for-the-witcher-1-guide/#ffs-tabbed-13I personally recommend "Witcher Rise of the White Wolf Enhanced Edition" and the texturen mod (and named bugfixes). You get a far better UI and a lot of graphical improvements. Now - I don't really know a game that's exactly in the ME ally, but if you do not mind a bit of clunky game play, Technomancer (and also a bit less enjoyable "Mars War Logs"), are good sci-fy games. If you like a bit more "old school" RPG's and like the Gothic series, then you might share my interest for an upcoming game from the makers of Gothic (Piranha Bytes) named "Elex". It's a real open world science fantasy RPG game, and will be released October 17 this year. Other than that I really don't know any game in this genre that will be released soon.

I don't know any other game that is similar to Mass Effect. Mass Effect is unique. There is however sci-fi game with a lot of RPG elements such as the cyberpunk Deus Ex Mankind Divided. You can talk a lot in this game, take stealth a lot or even you can fire with guns at nearly everything that moves. Jensen's combat skills are amazing and the upgrade system is really good. And there are plenty of badass persons in this game. However i do not recommend this game to anyone, at least you can get it for discounted price right now so you won't lose much if you did not liked it.

Oh Boy.. I guess I didn't make my post the way i had intended lol.. Ok, let me rephrase it. I loved the ME series including MEA I loved DAO - wasn't a huge fan of DAI. I am looking for a game that is similar to the play style especially the play style in ME. Where it was very easy to play and use abilities and your team could actually play by themselves for the most part. I do NOT care at all that it takes place in space That means nothing to me.. Mostly a fun game (NEWER game) that plays somewhat similar. I have heard really good/great things about the Witcher Series, esp Witcher 3, but I started playing Witcher 1 a while ago and I didn't like the mechanics of fighting, but i didn't give that a chance.. So, i guess just looking for something really fun, easy to play, and somewhat similar to Play style to MEA or DAO.. I hope that clears is up a bit.. Sorry if my post lead everyone to thinking about space games I just want to make sure I understand what you mean here. Combat-wise, DAO is an isometric, real-time-with pause game whole MEA is more of a tps. So by playstyle do you mean running with NPC companions with personalities and goals of their own? Or do you mean narrative-heavy games? Choice and consequences?

I agree with you about TW3. I enjoyed the game very much and put more hours into it than I want to admit. I even had fun doing almost all the side quests. Absolutely loved both expansion packs. I own Technomancer and have only played it for 30 minutes. I guess I should give it another try? I liked Technomancer's atmosphere. Quests design fit who the character was. Room for improvement but can see the growth from Bound by Flame. Romance not at the same level as a BioWare game - but well no one is so.. I know about the hours put into a great game! Between BioWare, The Witcher series and Borderlands - that's lots of time spent! I played Mars: War Logs years ago, and this is supposed to be set in the same universe, maybe I'll give it a try.

I think Technomancer is in the same verse, iirc a prequel to the War Logs. Gotta give it to Spiders, they at least attempt to create interesting settings.

For soloplayer games, i recommend Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4. All RPGs.
In mmos, Defiance is a gameplay match, but it is not an RPG. Also, the levelling and loot acquisition is grind intensive, so it is not for the casual gamer. I play Defiance on the European server, but there is also an American server.

If you have the old version of Skyrim (Oldrim) on PC, I'd recommend looking into the total conversion mod Enderal. It's a lot more linear and character-focused than Skyrim, with a new story, land, and protagonist. It's a completely new adventure. It's also fully voice acted and available in both English and German. The writing reminded me a lot of Bioware, so if you enjoy Dragon Age and Mass Effect--you really should check it out! Here's the trailer: This might make installing Skyrim again not seem like a terrible idea. Interesting and unexpected, thanks! Definitely do it. I honestly think everyone here with the original Skyrim should check it out. It certainly feels more like a Bioware style story on Skyrim's engine. Not so much of the "go anywhere, do anything" thing Bethesda does. Just bare in mind it's a free mod, not a commercial product. Not anything to do with quality, but companion / romance choices are very limited (very well done though), there isn't hundreds of hours of side content. And one or two other things you might notice.

It is a gaming drought for me these days, so any port in a storm I found Skyrim awful, but the controls made sense and it doesn't look bad. The game had no direction in vanilla, and I need a reason to be in a game or it just doesn't grab me. This sounds like potential, and the cost is lovely. If I don't care for it, nothing lost

Spiders' games, Binary Domain (pretty dumb/ironic, but similar). Edit. tell me more about techomancer and Withcer 3.. Are they both great games? Which one would you say is better and why? thx.. link to the reviewWritten after one PT. No comments on TW3, except graphics being good and controls being really uncomfortable.

It's an old game. Are you playing the remastered edition, Ur Quan Masters? Oh, and to 100% this game without guides, you need several playthroughs. At least I needed, all those years ago.

Yeah, I don't see how a person would know how to do much in this game without a guide. It's hit or miss you end up in the right system for anything other than getting your ass kicked. If I didn't suck so bad at the arcade fighting I'd probably like it a bit more.

sc2.sourceforge.net/ Here you have the remastered version free to play. It corrects many bugs and update the graphics a little. And to master the ships go to the versus mode! I love the Spathi Eluder and the Thraddash Torch.

ME is really the only space opera rpg I can think of (well there is KOTOR but that game is 14 years old). You would think there would be more but it is unique and then the stupid internet has to go and try to murder ME.Indeed that's the most frustrating thing about it. I don't know, space opera's aren't that great. Being unique is no indication of being good, after all. I mean, a football bat is a unique idea. It's also a pretty lousy one. Mass Effect would be a lot better if they focused less on being Star Wars and more on being Star Trek, but that's just my estimation and opinion. And to be fair, it's not necessarily 'unique' in terms of the narrative infrastructure of the series (the basic plot). It's really only unique in its setting among contemporary RPGs, being set within a futuristic sci-fi setting.

I should give it another go myself as I have it but I did struggle a little with the combat.
