so with Andromeda more or less in the dust, I think for many fans all eyes turn to Dragon Age 4. And while the game has not been officially announced, and while the game may not actually ever see the light of day, but the speculation has been bugging me for a while. So here it is, what I want to see done in Dragon Age 4.
1. Companion storylines: In Dragon Age 2, and Mass Effect Andromeda companions had multiple tasks/ quests which let them go on a story. This provided for some very powerful character arcs. I want to see more of this in future Dragon Age games instead of the one and done companion quests we usually see in BioWare, and indeed in RPG, games.
2. Cohesive Storytelling: Another quality of Andromeda which I quite enjoyed was how the main quest line, and the side quest lines, were all part of one larger whole. Instead of the main quest line being the main story thrust for a game everything you did was important in some way to the overall themes and objectives of the pathfinder. Granted there was the occasional piece of fluff but far less then in past BioWare games. So, I hope they will continue with it in DA 4. Give us a central objective and use the side and main quests o flesh it out.
3. 'Profiles': I know apparently this was unpopular, I even wondered if they would be possible for the DA system, and I think they need to be tweaked a bit (especially lore wise) to make it work. But, I have gotten excited because I remembered...in DA O, on consoles, you could flip out based on what weapons you are using. And while I did not really use this system in DA O that often...because I did not feel the need...combinging this system and the profile system has a lot of promise. Imagine being able to be an Archer picking people off at range but then either someone sneaks up on you, leaving you vulunerable, or you just go right in for the kill, you can switch to a melee profile, draw your daggers, and go crazy.
4. A more human story: Nothing wrong with DA I or its story really, per se. But compared to the arc of the Inquisitor and building up an organization, along with the Noble Inquisitor. I want more of a man of the people story, can still be a noble. But something down deep, in the trenches, fighting. The hero that should show Solas he is wrong needs to be a lot closer. They can even have a similar story to Inquisition and build up an organization, but just on the ground level, I want the character to go through a lot more.
5. Bring back the crafting: The weakness of Andromeda's crafting system was noticable. Just copy Inquisition's and have fun with it. The best crafting system ever. It let you design weapons to your individual tastes and to those of the character you were playing and what you wanted from your companions. It also made all that grinding for materials worth it, Andromeda? Not really at all.

Is this a wish list? Here's mine for starters:
I want attributes separated from abilities while leveling up.
Actual AI options for companion behavior. Specifically, able to order ranged fighters to stay at range.
If crafting is back and I want to make, say, a medium armor for my mage, I don't want to be stuck using mats that only increase rogue attributes. I want to be able to use whatever I want to make MAGE armor.
Fewer total companions to run around and get updates from after every mission. 12 was way too many, especially for a base as big as Skyhold.
Storage chest from Day 1, preferably not hidden behind a loading screen.
Less cluttered UI and a readable font for everything. Whoever decided on the all caps thing in DAI obviously didn't care that ALL CAPS IS VERY DIFFICULT TO READ!

What I want out of DA 4 is to break every bone in Solas' body, make him watch as I kill the last two archdemons in their sleep and preempt the blight and have nothing bad happen because of it, then cut his head off and put in on a spike, all in the first hour before moving on to the actual plot of the game.
If I had enough money to buy out EA, sell myself Bioware, and mandate a game's story with no concern for it's commercial success, only for my own personal gratification, that's what would happen.
I don't have that much money so that isn't going to happen.
So, more realistically;
I would like to be entirely unaffiliated with the Inquisition or other major organisations and instead take on a role similar to Hawke's in DA2; a highly skilled, self motivated individual who finds themselves caught up in circumstances but not beholden to any faction involved.
I would like there to be a nine party members with a 3/3/3 split between the classes. I'd like the majority of the party to be from the Anderfels, Rivain, Serehron, and Tevinter, with a minority from southern Thedas if absolutely necessary. Fact that we didn't have a single native Orlesian in Inquisition's party is still a minor gripe I have with the game. I would like all of those companions to be optional, but none to be mutually exclusive. I would like the number of Andrastian party members to be kept to a minimum. One or two. I want each of the nine companions to have at least one major sidequest that amounts to more than finding a random thing to smash in the wilderness or killing random NPC's with no real story attached, but also has more actual challenge and gameplay than going to a tavern and having a conversation with the companion's dad. I would like the companions to run a very wide gamut of moral and philosophical view points.
I would like for one of the female LI's available to a straight male inquisitor to be a worldly woman who has experience with relationships and sex before meeting the PC, is comfortable and open with her sexuality, isn't shy or shocked that someone may be interested in her, but also doesn't have a comically exaggerated sex life.
I would like options available to play my character in a wide variety of ways, ranging from loud and crass to suave and charming. I would like the option to play my character as a noble or horrible person according to my whim, as crude or refined person at my whim. I want to be able to be a bloodmage if I choose, I want to be able to frequent a brothel if I choose. I don't want my character's behavior to be beholden to anyone's opinion of what they should be, in universe.
I do not want my character to be the subject of any religious movement or any religious adoration. If this is unavoidable, I want the option to speak to every single NPC - regardless of how insignificant they are - who believes my character is sent by a divine power, and tell them they're a fucking idiot - in those exact words - and to spit in their face if they refuse to accept that I am not an agent of their god.(This is probably the least "realistic" thing I want on here but also the least likely to be a factor.)
When we confront Solas, I want the option to kill him, and I want it to be real and unambigious. I want there to be a version of killing him where his death is treated with no sympathy, no respect, no remorse, and no sense of tragedy. I would genuinely like the option to spit in his face as he dies.
In general I want to be able to work against the status quo, subverting and tearing down the powers that be and the establishment rather than protecting them. I do not want to be an agent of order any longer.

I loved the multi act companion storylines of DA2. Would love to see DA4 return to this multi thread approach. Would also like for something like Hardening/softening to be there for some companions. Adored that features in regards Leliana in DAO & DAI.
I really want to free the Evanuris, party with the Elven Gods, then team up with them to go stomp on Solas for everything he has done to Thedas. If i can't get that like formerfiend, i want to be unaffiliated from the idiot inquisitor and his band of chumps.
I'd like a conventionally beautiful, sexually confident female hetrosexual LI.
And please pretty please don't take the Evanuris into moustache twirling villains to be stomped in boss fights.

I want the sidequests to be like Descent, not like empty maps to go round and kill mobs with one or two barely conversant character on it. I want less companions and for them to have story arcs like in DA2/ME2 and MEA. Named bosses and intermediate bosses with interactions I want to kill Morrigan, and I don't want more than one returning companion (Dorian) I want bold, world-changing, divergent outcomes, as in tearing the Veil or keeping it with consequences - hence, I want this to be the last DA game in this Age. Next one can take place later or earlier. I want them to keep two VA options and race choices for the Main character I want way less romances, open to all PCs and plot important like in DA2 & focused on story and scenery flirts/interactions during the game rather than on the "let's bang" cutscene. I want way smaller gathering point than Skyhold & ability to chat with companions on the trail, with only some dialogues tied to the campfire I want way, way, way more banters between the companions Less loading screens overall, better UI, combat more like in DA2/MEA and no crafting/gathering Attractive, or at least uber-cool looking characters, particularly LIs. Yes, I know it's unrealistic/shallow, but I have liked playing with Anders, Sebastian and Fenris way more than with Bull, Blackwall and Solas. They don't all have to be great looking, but at least half of them or something.

What I want from DA4 is a return to for to the darker roots of Dragon Age. I second this. Both DA:O and DA2 have dark moments, like when watching the King die -which always makes me cry-, or finding Hawkes Mother. Inquisition however, doesn't. The dark elements are all in codex. So sign me up for darkness +1.

I remember being horrified the first time I played Origins and I went to Arl Howes basement. Where in DA:I do you ever get that? You don't. Because everything has to be all bright and cheery to appease the masses.
