Star Wars: Battlefront II (The villagers are outside with pitchforks and torches)

So are we going back to discussing Battlefront?

So I'll try to get the game this weekend, anyone has an Xbox gamertag who's also playing this game?

Loot boxes in general are not a problem. It’s when they are the only way to progress and or win that is a problem.
Edit: Which is not the case here.

A buddy of mine got it on the Xbox, and I managed to watch him play for a few minutes the other day as well as try out some of the local multiplayer. And, even ignoring the whole loot box situation and the hero unlock grind, I still found myself aggravated with the title; namely in the whole split screen department.

*Incoming Rant*

Why is it that split screen is still treated like a last second throwaway addition to this series? Battlefront 2 (the better version) supported up to four player split-screen on both the campaign and the multiplayer, of which you could make full use of and actually bring your split screen buddies online to play against other payers. In this game however, you are limited to a half-assed 'Aracade Mode' which is just an assortment of scaled down maps that you can only play assault or deathmatch on.

I still have yet to determine why, in this day and age, with two whole console generations under our belts (and all the increased processing power that comes with it) that games apparently have less features for local multiplayer than they did previously. Only thing I can think of, is that developers, as a whole, got lazy/greedy and want to force players to buy a whole other system, controller, game, and online service just to play something that could easily have been handled by one console barely 5 or 6 years ago. Even once bastions of split-screen, like Halo, have fallen victim to this with the latest game removing that functionality altogether.

Maybe its just because of how I grew up with games, and how much I enjoyed playing old school Battlefront 2 with family and friends, but this lousy excuse for local multiplayer in this game just rubbed me the wrong way.

Progress itself is not a bad thing. Tweaking it for money is. But what's worse is allowing to pay for in-game advantage in a competitive game. For me that's just instant disqualification.

So are the microTs in the game RNG based? If so then yea, good thing I'm passing to begin with.
