There's an interesting part about this video. As usual, I'll give the TL;DR There's a ton of conjecture in this video that I find forced - mostly to make a video that 'Anthem's in trouble'. First - Anthem in trouble because Laidlaw left DA4 team? I know that the point was about veteran developers, but even Bioware employees contest this idea, pointing out just how many old-school developers there still are with them. Also - Laidlaw said that he left in 'the best time for him to leave' and not 'in mid-production'. Second - DAI under-performing? Wut? And most importantly - where does this person gets information that Anthem underwent internal evaluation and it wasn't good? There's no sources for that information quoted, and you'd think that with info like that, you'd be sure to make it know where he gets it from. I can find no news through search that would mention something like that. To answer your question, when I play the game never has any issues finding a game for me to join in a matter of seconds. So yeah it is at least as busy as you are describing ME3 MP.

Even if it lost 90% of players that could still be lots of people playing when 2 million bought the game. Enough to matchmake. I've played a game that had like 150-350 users playing concurrently and I still found matches. Now that was more niche, but still...

Its one of those little things that require little effort but all the same seems a clear and present message even if it doesn't accomplish anything really.

I remember EA originally saying they expected to sell 14m copies by the end of their financial year (March), the same number the first SW BF sold over the same time-span. And they won't hit that (they said they expect to sell 10-12m by that time). But that said, they had hoped it would sell a lot more, given the additional effort put into this one. So I have a feeling that while they weathered BFII, this will still sting given the numbers they were really hoping to sell.

Yeah, they argue that it's technically not gambling because you get "something" for your money even if its not the thing you want. They like to compare it to buying packs of baseball cards where you don't know exactly what you'll get but there is a tangible benefit for the money spent. However, at least with physical cards, you can trade duplicates with others to get the thing you want and there is no distinction between the chances of getting a utility infielder versus Mike Trout. With the loot box mechanic, you can duplicates, can't trade, and the best gear is extremely tough to acquire and random. Despite the marketing speak, EA and their ilk won't change because billions of dollars in revenue dictate they shouldn't but Battlefront II demonstrated that consumer voice can have an impact and that can't let up once microtransactions are re-introduced back into the game.
