As someone who grew up in a family of gamers, I would have to say that I am rather perturbed by the overemphasis on things like graphical fidelity over gameplay features (namely split-screen). It's rather telling how lazy/greedy developers have become when your Nintendo 64 could run Golden Eye 4 player death matches without skipping a beat, but apparently the much more powerful PS4s and Xbox Ones can even manage to include the option of split screen in 99.9998% of their titles.
To pull the topic slightly back on to the discussion of Battlefront 2, I can remember that the original Xbox and PS2 version of this series had not only the option to play 4 player split-screen in offline battles, but you could also play the entire campaign, all the existing game modes, as well as take your, up to 3 gaming buddies with you, online and all play against other players over Live/PS+.
Flash forward to the current Battlefront 2, and not only is the optional number of local players reduced down to two, but you can only play said split-screen in a lousy, offline only, Arcade mode. But hey, those graphics sure are shiny, I am so glad I upgraded to the latest iteration of the consoles that actually have less features that those that existed 10+ years ago.

Tangentially related to Battlefront 2 granted, but this kind of BS needs to go die in a fire (IMHO) Last time I checked, Destiny 2 was kind of a flop? I don't understand why people keep coming back to the game, but I guess when you really like the genre, you just play whatever is available. Slight change of topic, but does anyone else think that DICE is a severely overrated developer? I’ve never seen the appeal. Yes and no. If you're looking for SP type of games, DICE is not the one to look at. Their multiplayer games (at core, when there're no greed practices introduced) are rather good, or fairly decent at least. They do make the best effects and graphic improvements in the industry I think, and that adds a lot of value in multiplayer games.

It wasn't? Unless you're referring to it selling less physical copies of the game compared to the 1st one, where physical copies for all games are down by, AFAIK, more than half (if not more) compared to 2014. That metric is pretty much entirely unreliable at this point in time. Plus, Activision keeps boasting about numbers of people playing simultaneously, which reaches numbers of ultra-popular PUBG.

They boasted about that just after release, but concurrent user numbers have actually declined dramatically (part of which is normal). I wouldn’t call it a flop, but it isn’t a breakout success either. A lot of players are just bored with it at this point in time.

Okay, It just gave me the impression that Destiny 2 wasn't a particularly well received game. I've seen people say it's just more of the same, and the first one wasn't that great anyways at the end of its lifespan. I obviously from a personal standpoint, wouldn't know. Never played D2 (first one is just for console and I don't play on consoles), nor I want to. But yeah, a flop perhaps is going a bit too far on the scale.

There's a difference between well-received and popular. Battlefront 1 didn't seem to be particularly well-received too yet still was a popular and successful title for EA. COD seems to be one of the favorite titles to grump on, yet still makes insane money. Which is, actually, one of the reasons why publishers/developers seem to be making those decisions that we look at and are like 'what are they doing...?'. They see what's selling far better than we do (even if they don't always reach correct conclusions) - it's a question now whether we've reached a 'critical mass' of sorts, where consumer dissatisfaction outweighs "well, they'll buy the game anyway''...

So, in that highlighted quote I understand it as: "People with money have to be milked, and people with no money, but free time need to grind their asses" . That type of mindset is a fail of a PR talk bullshit I've seen people spreading on the internet recently, some consumers even buy into that crap. "I work all day, and don't have much time to play. What a fantastic way of spending my hard earned cash: microtransactions So I can bypass artificial paywalls and be on par with people that already grinded in the game for weeks" Really? come on...

PCGamesN @pcgamesnEA absolutely plan to bring back Battlefront 2 microtransactions, and they don't believe cosmetics would work for Star Wars. www.pcgamesn.com/star-wars-battlefront-2/battlefront-2-cosmetic-loot-box … “We're not giving up on the notion of MTX,” says Jorgensen. “We're learning and listening to the community in terms of how best to roll that out in the future, and there's more to come as we learn more. But I would say we're certainly not changing our strategy.”

Sure I get not using on heroes, like the pink Darth Vader example he used, but it would definitely work for regular soldiers. Even in just the canon there is plenty of options to use.

Honestly customization in the game is zero, so giving options to the player seemed like a rather logical move. Disney wanted to keep it lore friendly? That's great, it just so happens the SW has quite a lot of different outfits and what not. The frigging camos for storm troopers in jungle maps, just why? why not? I mean, for what I've seen rebels had the advantage, because they didn't run in bright white uniforms all the time. So long as Imperial soldiers don't run around without a helmet like the first game, it'd be fine.

I just got a flashback to fighting on Endor with the last game. Damn Stormtroopers were basically holding up signs asking to be picked off. Thankfully you had the all-black Shadowtrooper skin to put on, but man... it was brutal before getting that.

The Empire is a human supremacist mono-culture but it had plenty of alien races under its banner that it used for everything from soldiers to mercenaries to slave labor. ._. Just because it was human first didn't mean it didn't have aliens in nearly every level of its society, they were just generally regarded as subhuman unless if they were specifically important. A notable alien is of course Thrawn but he wasn't alone in the fact that he was, a non human that reached the apex of the Imperial Military, its a rarity, not a impossibility.

I mean they could have something like the classes always being the same guys (pretty much all human, or maybe randomize it), and then as a customization option add a reskin for having, say Chiss as the Specialist/pseudo sniper and so on. More alien races to choose to spawn as, I mean SW has a lot of alien races, none should have an advantage over another when we talk customization, but they could've given the option to spawn as anyone really.

Funny that I mentioned different skins (well, not that it was the revelation of the year or anything...), because apparently BTF2 already has them just locked away. It's in the game, and recently someone did some "data mining" and found it:
Added a second one, lol you just gotta watch it. Anyways, both cover more or less the same.
If you don't wanna watch the video I'll give you the TL;DR. There're different races, different outfits, and all that already present in the game data, it was just hidden. Found just after their dumb claim of "can't do customization because canon" . There's also what it looks different factions. Not sure if it's there for sorting purposes as a way of organize, or the idea is/was to introduce different factions part of gameplay or something. For instance, there're Separatists, Republic, Galactic Empire, First Order, etc. I mean, technically that's already in the game right? it just depends on the map you get to play as one versus the other.
