Two cents, I’m not terribly worried about Anthem over this. Until I hear that there will be progression-linked loot boxes in Anthem, I’m not going to get worked up about it. Yea, I can't say I'm losing much sleep over this at the moment, as much as I discuss it here. Still, I also can't say I am not curious how the industry as a whole will look like after dust from latest debacle settles or how the scene will look a year from now. I don't predict the death of microtransactions or loot crates, but it'll be interesting to see if there'd be any noticeable changes. Will games now make 'no loot boxes/no progression-linked loot boxes' a new marketing slogan? We do see a few developers already taking shots at both EA, Activision and Microsoft for P2Win content in their games, ouch.

I do worry that Anthem will get hurt by all this simply for being affiliated with EA. If Anthem deserves it, fine, but I don’t want publisher’s problems to get in the way of it doesn’t.

Yea, especially now, that people in general stoke fires of resentment towards big corporations. For good reasons in many cases, but still - EA is not helping itself, and I don't just mean the whole BF2 shenanigans. Aside from other publishers joining on the loot craze trend, adding to the strength of backlash, I'm fairly sure that closing Visceral added to the fire too, and that's despite the fact that there were reports indicating that it didn't happen because 'heeey, no more SP games from EA!', but after a long period of trying to make this thing work and it just not gluing in the end, which is not something that happens rarely in game development world at all. I think at this point it'd probably be a good idea for EA to invest in good PR department, because they just keep adding fuel to the fire with the way they handle or market some things.

I'm trying to judge the game by its own merits as well. But I will say that, because EA is making it, I'm more inclined to believe it won't be good. However, I am hoping the game will be fun. And would be pleasantly surprised if it is.

There was actually already a Battlefront II and it was fantastic.
None of this EA bullshit.

I'm more amused that an EAbot decided to derail a Star Wars Battlefront 2 thread by nitpicking something said about Anthem... It's pretty mild, but can we avoid poking at other posters, please. By all means, take issue with the contents of posts made... Got it ModBot!

There certainly are many physical box copies of BFII in the stores. And the lowest priced PS4 bundle appears to be the BFII bundle.

I've found this picture on twitter a while back. And I think it describes more or less the industry in general nowadays:

Alright, someone tell if this true. Is the campaign for this game seriously only four hours? If you speed through it, perhaps. Otherwise it is longer than that. The cutscenes alone are around an hour.

About the usual length a Shooter campaign takes me to finish, so I'd say about 8 hours of gameplay, maybe 9 or 10. That was also on the easiest difficulty so on harder difficulties maybe an hour or two added to that.

Alright, someone tell if this true. Is the campaign for this game seriously only four hours? It's subjective. Not everyone has the same approach to playing games. Some are brisk and very efficient. Others like to take their time and so on. The two streamers I watched on different days were on hardest difficulty. They finished the campaign in about 6-7 hours. Would be less if they didn't spend time chatting to viewers and thanked the subs who re-sub for the month, people who donated, RL interruptions, etc. Knowing AJ, he would have done some calculations of his own PT.

I would still say EA is still mostly responsible since they were the first to adopt this mess in full retail $60 games but Blizzard-Activision have also done more than their fair share to help spread it. Then again I am sure all of the major AAA publishers have had their hand in it in some way shape or form.

Maybe you're not looking for the fancy graphics. They're pretty much tied with the Frostbite engine. Battlefield 1 was solid shooter. Except for the random crashes. That's pretty much my experience with Dice games.

If you take in consideration what they do for single player games, they are more then overrated. Their campaign modes are the most basic of basic in FPS games. Now if you're talking about multiplayer games, they are alright. I did had my share of fun playing battlefiel and the first battlefront online.

A shooter needs to do something pretty unique to get my attention, plus I only dabble in multiplayer.
