Star Wars: Battlefront II (The villagers are outside with pitchforks and torches)

Well, Belgium isn't doing this just to Battlefront II but other games with loot boxes as well for example Overwatch which can't be called a failure in any sense of the word.

It looks like big changes may be in the works for Star Wars: Battlefront II's microtransaction system. It was discovered today that you can no longer purchase the game's virtual currency, Crystals, with real money.

Accessing the Crystals purchase page on Xbox One today yields the screen below. It does not give you the option to buy Crystals. However, you can still purchase them through the Xbox.com store, at least for the time being. We're working to confirm the situation on PlayStation 4 and PC. Keep checking back for more.

EA is temporarily pulling the microtransactions from Star Wars Battlefront II, a shocking move that comes after days of zealous fan anger and just hours before the official launch of the game.

These in-game purchases will return at some point in the future, EA says.

Our goal has always been to create the best possible game for all of you – devoted Star Wars fans and game players alike. We’ve also had an ongoing commitment to constantly listen, tune and evolve the experience as it grows. You’ve seen this with both the major adjustments, and polish, we have made over the past several weeks.

But as we approach the worldwide launch, it's clear that many of you feel there are still challenges in the design. We’ve heard the concerns about potentially giving players unfair advantages. And we’ve heard that this is overshadowing an otherwise great game. This was never our intention. Sorry we didn’t get this right.

We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing and tuning. This means that the option to purchase crystals in the game is now offline, and all progression will be earned through gameplay. The ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we’ve made changes to the game. We’ll share more details as we work through this.

We have created a game that is built on your input, and it will continue to evolve and grow. Star Wars Battlefront II is three times the size of the previous game, bringing to life a brand new Star Wars story, space battles, epic new multiplayer experiences across all three Star Wars eras, with more free content to come. All other publishers take note. Christ, what a disaster.

They said there will be in the post. However, they weren't specific on what kind of content they'll be. I assume The Last Jedi stuff will still be free including sp dlc. I mean, this shitstorm that EA got would be nothing compared to having paid map packs again and sp dlc be paid as well. At least with The Last Jedi stuff that's already been announced, they can't afford another shitstorm.

Too late, this game looks fun!

I’m kinda torn. On one hand, I’m don’t think the game deserves quite this level of hate. On the other, it does seem to be sending the right message to EA about how not to do microtransactions.

So...EA has been doing what they have been doing for...well nearly a decade now...and just now people notice and start complaining about it? Am I right?

With all the BS going on with this game, I'm playing the ten-hour free trial now and I'm having a blast. Resume your crying now. I evidently don't have the discerning palate of an elite professional gamer.
