You are making an assumption that the majority of the gaming community is the hardcores that keep in touch of everything happening in the gaming industry. Moreover, you are making an assumption that a lot of people buy games just to hate on them like money grows on trees for them. In fact, the VAST majority of gamers are casual, they will pick up something to play, if they like it they will play for a while, if don't they will stop playing sooner. They don't lurk here in the forum to shit on Mass Effect Andromeda and EA. The chance of them playing a game longer and coming back after a while is higher if it is purely skill based and the only gap is skill based. Playing longer also gives more chance for them to purchase cosmetics if they like the game. I don't think whale hunting is as much profitable as in the mobile gaming market because the production costs are so much higher. What does keeping with the gaming industry as anything to do with what I wrote? Or the casuals? Or retention? I'm talking about EA basically inexistant fanbase (sarcastically) compared to Blizzard super huge fanbase that buys everything that they do, barely complains about anything and is the reasons for Blizzard's success (not the "casual" who barely buy a single game every year). Blizzard can get away with cosmetic cash shop with its playerbase, EA can't. Not saying that the loot crate with stat upgrades are any better, just that going cosmetic only would probably be worst financially. There is also the fact that Disney seems to have a pretty rigid rules about what can go in "canon" games (going by some Visceral close up rumors I've been reading after my other posts), so the cosmetics would probably be very limited anyway.EA has stated that all cosmetics in Battlefront 2 will be fitting with the lore of Star Wars, so no neon pink Stormtrooper options for example.

You all know you don't have to buy the mictrotransactions right? There are other ways to get the stuff in the game, either by luck of the draw or using scrap to build the thing you want to unlock.

Spare me. I play MP shooters when there is some decent balance and not MT spenders who get to spawn camp with their PtW guns. It doesn't occur to you that playing for the in-game credits is maybe arbitrarily grindy and unfun against the paid crap that comes up?

That kind of stuff like spawncamping will happen no matter what business practice the developers adopt. The beginning guns everyone gets are able to kill people easily. And in the meantime, all the future content like maps, characters, weapons, cosmetics, etc are all free rather than having to pay for each one and further split the playerbase apart.

It's not just guns. It's character abilities, too. That stuff ads up. The Boba Fett supposedly can become immune to damage. And if you go up against people who have higher DPS and resilience you will be killed and you won't be able to kill them fast enough. Expect some minmaxers building their OP characters to unlock their super OP heroes. I expect the vanilla player to be just cannon fodder. That's maybe fine for a F2P shooter, but not really worth a 60 buck baseline investment.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Single Player Trailer
I didn’t care about Battlefront 2 until I saw this trailer, maybe the MC could in fact remain loyal and slaughter the Rebellion as revenge for the death of the Palpatine to the point of becoming too radical and out of control for even the Empire.
If so.....THIS WILL BE AWESOME!
Fuck EA, but this could be a genuinely epic Star Wars story.

I could be wrong, but is this the first time we've seen sp gameplay?

I keep thinking this game is out. Why? Because I heard not a peep about SP and yet I've seen MP. I forgot it's a sneak peak for MP. Nov 17. Ok, will watch gameplay. I look forward to it.

So it's a bit like it should have been: progression tied to actual progression and not to loot crate RNGesus. Still, loot crates are there and I don't like them, I'm not quite changing my mind about the game just yet. DICE can call me back when they release a game without that aberration. If only papa EA wasn't so greedy.

You are seriously not telling me you support this practice... It's fine though, I genuinely don't care about starting an argument.

I support loot boxes and free DLC that keeps the entire playerbase together over no loot boxes and paid DLC that divides up a playerbase. Plus at least the loot boxes aren't the only way to get things, and you don't even have to buy them.

It's just plain, unbalanced, shit and unfun. A crap experience. They have just announced to tweak the lootbox system. Now people can't beeline anymore to epic cards and there is gating that's tied to character level (XP). I mild alleviation. I bet it was planned like this all along. Still gives out paid advantage over other players. That's like having cheaters in the game - doesn't appeal to me. I don't play F2P games with such payment models neither.
