Yeah, no face scans. elven, dwarven and Qunari skulls are not the same as humans and the proportions are off. People often use sliders to make those skulls more human, so they look more attractive I presume, but the models themselves are not. I am fine not to use the scans, but I’d like them to at least retain the shapes of the features, particularly the eyes, and the quality of textures and hair iron bull does look a little like Freddy Prince. Bull is like a red flag for me, heh. I have no idea who Freddy Prince is anyway. They did use heads selections for non-humans in Swtor, so maybe my point is invalid.

Variable height! Even +/-10% would be a huge step forward in realism.Saint's Row body shape triangle: Strong/Skinny/FatA way to save and share your current work. A long string of numbers is okay, but I'd rather have a full import/export/share file experience like in Saint's Row
A "make my face look like this picture" mode. Neural nets can do crazy stuff these days, why not an Instagram-like automatic adjustment mode that makes your character's face look like a picture of Brad Pitt or Yennefer.

Other than the lots of hair, I'd want tattoos with an actual drawing of something.

Variable height! Even +/-10% would be a huge step forward in realism.Saint's Row body shape triangle: Strong/Skinny/Fat I wouldn't get your hopes up in regards to those two: it'd create a lot of clipping and misalignment issues as Dragon Age, unlike Saint Row and Fallout, have characters that interact physically. I remember hearing that it required a good amount of work to deal with the various height differences between the Inquisitor and romanced companions. I think set heights and set body types might be more likely to happen.

As much as I didn't like the ME:A character creator with the limited face scans and all, the save tool to upload and share your characters online was cool and something they should definitely do for DA.

Speaking of variable body types: I loved Bull's paunch, Isabela was stacked, and Aveline was more muscular than other human women. I hope they keep doing this for companions, at least.

Definitely agree having a body slider would help, though I would prefer the presets stay true to each racial type. For example, a "bodybuilder" elf should look like Bruce Lee rather than Arnold, and a "tall" dwarf should still be shorter than an elf.
I also agree about the boob slider, but not for the reasons you might think . I appreciate the female form as much as the next person, but large breasts are as much fat as muscle, so truly athletic women don't generally* have naturally big boobs. Aside from the realism factor, the uncanny valley of the nude characters in Inquisition's love scenes made the women's breasts look like bad implants. A personal preference, I usually like natural over artificial, no matter how big or small. Maybe the slim and muscular female body types could have smaller breasts, the average (but still heroic) body has medium ones, and the robust option** could have large ones.
*Yes, there are exceptions to every rule, but most women athletic women that I've seen either have a small chest, or implants.
**I'm all for thick and full figured body options, but I think I would draw the line at truly obese. Our characters are going to be doing a lot of adventuring, and it would strain creditability for me if they stayed really fat.

Speaking of breasts, I'm pretty sure both the dwarf and qunari Inquisitors were bustier than the elves and humans. Especially the dwarves, proportionally speaking. I always figured that was deliberate, because dwarves are rounder and thicker in general so the ladies are designed to be curvier. (I'm gonna ignore the fact that the female dwarves looked like they were wearing a bullet bra.) Not going to post screencaps obviously, but, uh... there's always Google. I do think "muscular" for an elf should look more like a swimmer's build. Here's Fenris's WoT2 pic, where he's obviously muscular but doesn't have super wide beefy shoulders or anything. He still looks like an elf.

The skin texture choice in Andromeda was very nice once the patch freed it up, that's one thing I'd like to take from that game.
(The fact that eyebrows were part of the skin texture was very bad, though)

He still looks like an elf. I had to use mods to make him look acceptable - and that was DA2. In DAI you needed a whole lot of them in order to look alright. I don't know where the idea to portray elves as scrawny and stooped come from but it's a terrible one. When I think about a nice looking elf I'm thinking : slim & toned human teenager. As for the CC in DA4 - I repeat and will go on repeating - I want to be able to custom craft the face of all my companions like we were able to do with Hawke in DAI. That would go a long way towards increasing replayability. I can already see the massive threads comparing the appearance of each companion.

What I did like about the ME:A CC was that it was really good at creating ethnic faces. I played my first ever custom made Asian PC, and I loved it! So I hope they can meld that with the CC from DA:I. How do you guys feel about the option of having two different options for voices? I liked it, it added some replay value, but it must have taken quite a bit of resources that could perhaps have been allocated to something else. I'm fine with just having one voice, although I do expect that voice actor to be good (they more often than not exceed my expectations).

But I agree, I'm fine with just one voice, and it isn't what I'd choose to put resources in, if it were up to me. I guess it depends if they go with races again, since they have established humans and elves have different accents from dwarves and qunari. Although, 2 almost doesn't seem like enough in that case.

I don't know where the idea to portray elves as scrawny and stooped come from but it's a terrible one. This! Both male and female elf pcs were way too scrawny. Slender is fine but not emaciated or looking like a strange elf alien. I think having only one male voice and one female voice is best given the costs. I think the extra VO would be better used for side quests and/or branching stories unless they have a really large budget.

I LOVED having two voices per gender. It made the game more replayable for me because the different accents and different levels of deepness(?? there's got to be a better way to word this lol) made my Inquisitors more distinct. And I mostly play dwarves and qunari who, in-universe at least, have American accents.
I wouldn't want to go back to one voice per gender unless we go back to a human-only protagonist, which is also something I don't want.

We're just referring to the CC, right?
First off, I affirm that scans are not used. Even if we may only choose human, we need to be able to sculpt the faces to our liking.
Second, more options are better, not worse. This is especially true for hair. At least twenty different hairstyles.
Third, make that at least thirty.
Fourth, male and female should have separate hairstyles. Male and female skulls and hair growth are not the same. Do not treat them as such.
Fifth, ignore the makeup, particularly for the men. People who want to look like a drag queen are few enough that the modders can take care of it.
Sixth, and rather, simply, just start with a normal, well proportioned face, with realistic hair, eyes, and everything else. Inquisition's was mostly right, you don't need to reinvent the wheel. Just sharpen up the textures.

MEA's hair options (styles & colors) were a huge step up from DAI, so I hope they improve even more for DA4.
No more of that face scanned, complexion linked to the eyebrows stuff. Just no. Better complexion options.
Speaking of eyebrows, I want more options that don't look like wooly-bears. There is one eyebrow choice that I can stand to use on my Inquisitors.
Piercings. Ear/nose/lip/eyebrow, at the very least.
Tattoo options for the body, and not just neck/face tattoos, which I am still not fond of.
Elves that don't look like they're so far into starvation that a sandwich wouldn't help them.

More natural lighting in the CC space, not some green fade corner or dark basement. CC based on DA:I CC, not ME:A CC monstrosity. I want to be able to sculpt the face I want and to choose eyebrows and other details myself. More hair options for both sexes and better looking hairstyles suitable for the setting. No flavour of the day real world hairstyles, no fifty shades of bald. Body type triangle (as in FO4). Cure for elven anorexia. Some way to save/share character looks. No non removable tattoos, piercings, scars, beards, body hair. Two voice options are a great feature. I usually like one of those more, so having some choice is always cool.

I would want multiple lighting option in the CC just to see what the skin complexes together with makeup would look like. It's not fun to play hours and look at a face that looks shite, but won't mind it so much as long as there's the black emporium from the very beginning available and not added later as a patch.
More hairs definitely.

I was pretty happy with the DAI CC. Like everyone else, Hair/Beards (more options & better fidelity/physics) would be at the top of the list, then being able to change the lighting/environment in the CC. In DAI, I find that it's about 50/50 I'll want to immediately go back into the CC after seeing my PC in-game. I'd really like that to improve. Pie-in-the-sky: Improve how hair integrates with helmets/hats/etc. and proper shadowing. I know this is very, very difficult to achieve, so I hold little hope that it'll actually happen. Eg. Remember all the hype surrounding "The Hat"...? www.gamerheadlines.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Dragon-Age-Inquisition-04-720x405.jpg... but in the end getting this. i.imgur.com/oRianiG.png

Really? Do you have examples? As far as I've found SW:tOR helmets have the same issue of hiding hair. Aside from the stuff that's more like a headband, circlet or goggles They do hide hair but they do not replace it with patches, just short flat hair of the same color the avatar has. I am thinking of the Smuggler's level 50 hat. It is very similar to this one, and looked great on my characters.
