I thought Liara had a lot of garbage dialogue. She certainly wasn't a consistent character across all three games. I mean, she's an archaeologist who is capable of taking down asari commandos in the very first game. Something isn't right about her. Why does no one call that out? Why wasn't she a fan failure? She does have garbage dialogue. How many times does she have to say, "I've studied the protheans for blah, blah, blah", before she realizes everyone already knows. Her background doesn't support her being a squadmate. In fact all 3 games shows she's not squadmate material. If anything, have Shiala join the squad with the T'soni is only in the game to say, "Ilos". I like Cerberus, at least in ME2. They were willing to do something about the abductions of colonists while the circus calling itself Alliance were doing a whole lot of nothing. Even the Anderson guy says its up to Shepard to find a way to stop the reapers. He never cared. Too bad my Shepard couldn't throw the clown off the balcony for that comment. In ME3, they became the keystone cops. I guess being indoctrinated makes you stupid.

Too be fair the Reapers were clearly idiots so if you are being controlled by them you probably act like a idiot. That's why they let Saren retain some semblance of freedom so long, they recognized how stupid they were in comparison and let him actually function.
And yes, Liar is horribly written. The Andromeda cast is pretty much all that bad. One or two characters you forgive the whole cast not so much.
I was fine with Cerberus outside the forced nature of joining them. Yeah they were villains in ME1, but they were even in 1 described as a super secret well funded organization. Its not a surprise to me that some factions in a organization like that are total villains and others more anti heroes. They were story wise from the get go a black ops organization that went off book and got private funding. It actually stands to reason that they might have some serious pro-alliance foundation given where they come from.

As soon as you have garbage dialogue coming from a person, the entire character is ruined. Take that and add on 100+ hour game? *shakes head* Not good. Better just to take them out back and put them down with Old Yeller. EDIT: And I may as well add in the biggest lore inconsistency between ME1 and ME2, which is Cerberus. They were outright villains in ME1 yet somehow fans bought into them being "anti-heroes" in ME2. People loved them. Why? It's partly why I could never get behind Cerberus in ME2 - because I actually paid attention to what happened in ME1 and knew that Shepard was being played. I really wished there was a option to tell Liara back in ME3 to piss off, but at least there was a option to get that damned blue skin last in ME1. I hear you about Cerberus, the ME cheap knock off version of Hydra/Cobra.

My point isn't to make anyone hate Liara or hate Cerberus. My point is that the "bad writing" people complain about being present in MEA has actually been present all along. It's just if they like the game they ignore it and if they don't a mortal sin was committed. Being a bisexual blue alien helps a lot with that. If only Cerberus was a bisexual blue alien! But seriously the MET had a lot of good writing too, off the top of my head Mass Effect 1 had world building, Mass Effect 2 had Mordin Solus, and Mass Effect 3 had the Tuchanka arc. This is just my opinion but Andromeda had nothing of that calibre. Though yes I do agree that people (including myself) will overlook some bad writing (ie. the Conduit plot/Lazarus Project) if I am enjoying the game.

Because PUBG is reasonably compared to it's competition DayZ and H1Z1, while ME:A is unreasonably compared to The Witcher 3 and original ME trilogy.

So yeah even though I only like MEA and love ME1-ME3, MEA beats TW3 for me.

That’s right... come to the dark side! We have cookies. And Ryncol (humans beware). Funny. I literally just had Shepard visit the Dark Star Lounge and drink ryncol. He woke up in the restroom with Miranda and Jacob at his side and a turian pissing in a urinal. Fun times!

I never got to 20 hours, 12 I think, uninstalled. Both ME1 and MEA had the feeling right from the beginning, the atmoshpere right for me.

Your girlfriend is in trouble or something(I kind of forget it), but most the quests sure they were more detailed but I just didn't care about it. Some dude messed with your forge? Sure I'll help, but sleep through the story.

Fearing about cyberpunk now I liked TW3 (though never completed my first run yet) but still favor ME games. Then again, I favor science fiction over fantasy. Not fearing for Cyberpunk 2077. Loved William Gibson novels, loved Shadowrun from back when it first showed up on SNES and love the newer Shadowrun games that have appeared on Steam and GOG. Thematically-speaking, I'm very much looking forward to it. Even if there are a lot of side quests, it can be worth it to boost your skills. If Cyberpunk 2077 is anything at all like Shadowrun, choice of skills becomes very important when you have to choose allies. That also comes into play in ME games (though not so much MEA since they basically allow you to eventually do everything) but less so in Witcher games, where Witchers are their own sort of thing, sort of like being able to choose mage, rogue or warrior (soldier, vanguard, engineer) vs having no choice but to be a warrior (or soldier). Not necessarily bad but I like more options.

SCIFI >>>>>>>>>>>>> Fantasy, but I was surprised how easily Dragon Age, especially Inquisition took me in (less in DA2) as I generally didnt even play pen&paper RPG's in fantasy, mainly CP2020 and Call of Cthulhu. Well I really hope CP2077 turns out great, maybe its the Witcher guy and the whole setting. I also like sidequests, always try to do all of them if possible, but for some reason they also felt drab on TW3. I mainly also think it started way too sloppily, compared to TW2 which was more of a "bioware style of starting a game"

Even as someone who was completely captivated by the Wild Hunt and found Andromeda to be boyish and bland, I feel that many people didn't give Andromeda a fair shake simply because of the damage done to the IP by the ending to ME3. That said, the game really didn't present well at launch and gave those who have an axe to grind with Bioware plenty of opportunity to stick the boot in. Such a shame.
