I finally watched this vid. I love the MET, and have invested more time and PTs into it than most can believe. I’ve also completed MEA 11 times, with 5 additional partial PTs. This being this case, I am very well informed on the subject and have well developed opinions. The MET is my favorite series in all of gaming, but it’s not as masterfully made as his rose-colored nostalgia leads him to claim. Neither is MEA as bad and flat as he claims. One broken-up playthrough is not enough to see everything any BioWare game has to offer. Hell, it’s never even enough to actually get to know all of the cast all that well. I do agree with some of his points and general feelings, but the vid is hyperbolic start to finish. His Reaper concept is terribad, embarrassingly so. He shouldn’t have shared that. All in all, this is a well produced video, but one full of hyperbole and terrible “alternative ideas”. MEA fell far short of the MET for me, and he does hit on some of the reasons why. That said, I’m not sure we needed yet another video of this sort. Were I not denied sleep by pain, there’s no way in hell I take the time to watch this. Yeah, I think if he would have stuck purely to the writing critique it would have been a good vid. I also agree that the OT wasn't some sort of writing masterpiece but it did one important thing that MEA failed to create for me. Rising tension. A key component to great storytelling...and arguably the most important element to successful storytelling in a game. I'm on playthrough 11 for MEA so I obviously like the game well enough despite any the shortcomings. The only way they can really do that is by imposing pacing on the player, and making most of the content gated. MEA instead gave us a bunch of planets to explore so the whole experience is mostly self-paced. It works for me, because it gives me more role-play opportunities and allows me much more active participation in creating the character's narrative. Different strokes and all.

I like MEA as in I enjoy playing it but I think it is weakest of the ME games. I was playing both it and ME1 the other day and I found myself enjoying ME 1 a lot more and ME 1 is my least favorite trilogy game.

I have now on my later MEA gameplay, even more higher appraise for the game and that makes playing especially 2, and 3 harder for me as 1 is the favourite of them all.

That is a quote from another post I made in another thread earlier today. I'm tied and I'm in a very foul mood. So I'm copying and pasting that post here because it sums of my feelings right now anything else I would say right now would get likely get me banned because my restraint is already pushed to the fucking limit. So I'm going to get some much needed rest and relaxation for at least few hours then I'll return.
So to quote wrestling legend Jim Cornette: Thank you. Fuck you. Bye.

Wow, that was really very informative and helpful. Not full of DIAF quotes either.

Just because you're having a bad day doesn't mean you can make everyone else have a bad day too. If you need to vent, do it appropriately.

Yeah too many people act like the MET was perfect when complaining about MEA. I enjoy both but neither are perfect. Agreed. I will never say Andromeda was perfect, but at the same time the original trilogy was far from perfect itself. To me at least my problems with Andromeda emphasized the short comings BioWare normally has, but at least I can see that those problems are generally present in every BioWare game I can remember even going back to before EA. I have a different view of it. For example, world building is a big thing for me and I find that BioWare typically does a good job in that regard, but I found Andromeda rather lacking. I suppose part of that is to be expect seeing as it was the 4th interaction on the series, but imo the fact that Andromeda was some weird mashup between a reboot and a sequel didn't help.

He wants to kill you and get the meridian, but he is going counter to his directive in what otherwise seems to be a very indoctrinated group. His obsession of the remnant over his duty to uplift all the life in this cluster made him a bit more interesting. That's more interesting than I'm Saren and I'm mind controlled. Sure the Kett are grunts but what were the Geth in ME1, they were just grunts. And the reapers, oh look rogue AI I've never heard that story before. And yeah ME1 had more lore to deliver, but it should be that way. You are getting introduced into a established setting where humans are newish but have been part of it for decades. This was a story of just discovering things so the lore was sparser you were discovering it, it just wasn't delivered in the intro and codex. I'm not saying it was perfect, it had plenty of flaws. Its story just wasn't substantively worse than any of the other games on their own. I disagree of course, but I do respect your opinion. Oh they know... I think BioWare (proper) are internally more painfully self-aware and critical of MEA's flaws than they'd ever care to admit publically which is why short of cancelling it... it was pushed out in march and buried as soon as they'd put out the dumpster fires to begin with - a logical move in order to contain the foreseeable damage to their IP and reputation. Not exactly the actions of a proud studio/publisher. The only reason why any publisher would impose a genuine hiatus on a property is so that the press and mainstream consumers will have forgotten how poor the last one was by the time the next one is released. Having said that I can't think of any EA property in recent memory that has ever come back from a situation like this. Yeah, that and they probably at the moment have no idea whatsoever about what to do with the franchise. Where to go? how do we fix the issues we've created? plus Bioware of old is no more, it's a bit of a scramble. They got to put their shit together first, too many new people are in, and too many old people left. If they were to start another ME as it is, it'll be Andromeda all over again, but worse. Thank you!!!
