I picked up Lucifer. It's interesting but the writing is uneven. I just started Lucifer myself yesterday and Tom Ellis is ridiculously hot and charming. I'll watch it for the eye candy alone. It's a super cheesy beauty and the best narrative wrapped in a police procedural aimed at women I would guess and about as subtle about the romance as a sledgehammer. But I can't help being hooked on yet another impossible love story. I'm easy bait for such a thing ugh. Not a great show but fun, I like the humor. He's a great singer, love his voice. Love actors with beautiful singing voices.

I'm wondering if Lucifer would eventually reveal what he is to Chloe. I'm not looking for a sweet ending but a bitter one. I'm immensely curious what the big plan all about.
Edit. Damn. Charlotte's a great char. Will miss her. I'm glad she's nothing fear any more and Amenadial got his wings back.

Children of Men (2006) Watched it again, haven't rewatched it, oh, probably since it came out. It was exactly and precisely as brutal as I remember it. Wasn't just the gore either. The gore underscores and realizes the psychological impact. It's sudden. Here's to another decade before I work up the gumption to watch it again.

Found another tv series that looks interesting after running through a score in Netflix. I ran searches on them and found flaws one way or another. Then I discovered Gillian Anderson portrayed Margaret Thatcher in The Crown. I stopped watching The Crown after S2 so I was taken aback to find GA was given the role. Looked up some YT vids and I fell over; that's some great portrayal. But I've little interest in resuming watching The Crown so I looked up GA's previous acting chops. I settled on Sex Education. GA definitely has aged gracefully since her days in X-Files.

David Duchovny not so much, lol. Never liked him on anything he did before or after The X Files either. He was hot for a while though! Gillian was always the better actor. That said, I tried watching The Fall because of her but the slow boring narrative drove me away after just one episode. I thought she was great on Hannibal but that show kinda was a mess at the end. I'm developing a serious crush on Tom Ellis. The man is so gorgeous... Last time I found an actor this hot was Michael T. Weiss on The Pretender in the 90s... Lucifer is such a cheesy love story I should be appalled but for some reason I love it. It's like a less original mix of Dexter and Elementary. Much more like the latter in terms of narrative structure. Loved John Lee Miller's performance and the chemistry with Lucy Liu but the boring procedural nature made it kind of a chore. Kept watching shipping the two despite the creators saying it wasn't a love story. It was very sweet regardless. But the banter wasn't enough to make it a gripping show imo. So I only watched bits of the later seasons. Now Lucifer is more fun to watch but I'm getting a little impatient with the procedural nature too. Oddly never bothered me on The X Files back in the day but nowadays I prefer one overarching/one big bad season arc. And while there's the heavenly family drama that I actually enjoy, the cases are the least interesting part for me here too. Was the opposite for my BF, he stopped watching halfway through S2 because work too much family drama, haha. I'm on S2E7 now. Kinda addicted but mostly because I have an embarrassingi weakness for impossible unhappy romances. Ugh.

Man, Lucifer is like a bigger budget daytime soap opera, lol. Within S2 they almost kiss but get interrupted of course (The X Files movie comes to mind) by one of his bimbos, Chloe gets angry. Oh it's all over now. Cry cry. Then when he decides he doesn't deserve her and it's for the best, that ends in a real kiss. Then a dream sex scene, naturally. Classic. Then they're happy for like one episode until Lucifer learns why Chloe is special because mommy is a bitch. Now the boy's heart is broken. Omg, I can't stop laughing! But I'm super addicted. It's like somebody put every woman's romantic fantasy in a shamelessly cheesy TV show that only manages to be better than Twilight because of the talented actors oozing charm and chemistry. I LOVE IT

For once there was a new show advertised that looked interesting to me that I could watch (as I do not have netflix, hbo, any of those specialty channels).
"Resident Alien" I just watched the 1st episode, kind of a dark comedy. I like it quite a bit. About an Alien on a mission that crash lands on earth and then he has to try to fit in until he can complete his mission.

S4E6 of Lucifer was very Dexter-esque... The devil has an identity crisis in S4, doesn't know if he's good or bad. Tries to be good for his lovely detective only to get an innocent killed by letting a killer get away. Then he realizes that he enjoys punishing evil and paradoxically he saves lives being the devil. This is SO Dexter, lol! Well, Dexter was a much better show once upon a time until S4. But cheesy ass Lucifer will do right by the redemptive arc that Dexter fucked up so royally in the end, I know it. Dexter was headed for redemption too but where the detective will accept all of Lucifer eventually, no doubt, Dexter was not allowed to find peace in a woman's arms because the one person who would accept him too was unfortunately his foster sister. Can't have that! So lumberjacked he got, and Deb died because he tried to be good. UGH. Let's not go there again...
(Dexter is apparently going to haunt me forever.)

Watching Jessica Jones. Promising. S 1 is really good. Never bothered with 2 or 3...I'm interested but just can't find the time. And when I do, for some reason I can't get back into it. I think because it's been too long......But again, S 1 is quite good. Kristin Ridder plays the role well.

Too bad Luke Cage didn't continue on but I glimpse an advert and the char has its own tv series. Now on S2 E7 for Jessica Jones. I can't say I'm sorry for dropping out of the music scene totally in the early 2000s (not keeping up with popular music) because there's nothing meaningful in the lyrics of the music playing in one part of the ep. It's the typical one line repeating over and over. I've a feeling / impression from the occasional snippets I heard, the majority of the pop songs from the 2000s until today are not as great as the ones in the 60s to 90s. Anyway, I'm sorry Simpson went out early. I'm wondering why Trish is taking his meds. Is fear dictating her actions? She looks like she's going to do herself in. She's acting like an addict.

It's really good. Too bad Luke Cage didn't continue on but I glimpse an advert and the char has its own tv series. Just in case you aren't aware of the whole format together. (And an advanced 'sorry' if this is entirely redundant.)
Marvel and Netflix got together and produced Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. They are separate series but all connected, and eventually come together in their own show "The Defenders". Secondary characters are shared throughout the shows quite a bit. It was billed as a sort of "mini-Avengers for Netflix".
Biggest reason I'm saying this is that, Marvel and Netflix cut ties, so every single one of these shows ends abruptly and all of them end on a cliffhanger. Figured you might want to brace yourself for that ahead of time. Sorry if it's too spoilery but in your shoes I'd rather know not to get too invested in terms of a coherent ending. Cause... there isn't one. (That being said, enjoy the ride.)
Daredevil is generally regarded as the best of the lot, and I absolutely agree. If you like Jessica Jones and haven't seen Daredevil yet I'd highly recommend it after. Well, actually I'd recommend watching them all in proper order but as that cat's outta the bag, I'd go with Daredevil next.

In terms of where you are in Jessica Jones and your observations on Trish, you're 100% on the mark.

Gryphon and F*** It.....I completely agree with both of you, though as I said I haven't watched Jessica Jones S2 or 3...Nor S 2 of Luke Cage. I tried, but couldn't get into it. Really enjoyed Season 1 of Luke Cage, but cannot get into Season 2 try as I might. But the assessment and wrap-up of all the shows coming together is spot on. And DareDevil through all three of its Seasons really was the best of them all.

Daredevil and Jessica Jones less so (they were the last two to be cancelled. S3 of Jessica Jones managed to tweak the ending a bit at the last minute so it isn't QUITE as big a cliffhanger. In the original ending, she got on the bus and left town.

Started watching The Designated Survivor a couple of nights ago and am hooked after just 4 episodes. Kiefer Sutherland is great as are a few of the other actors but some of the acting maybe because Sutherland is so good is a bit wooden.
I like the story premise and so far it has been executed well.
