Started watching The Designated Survivor a couple of nights ago and am hooked after just 4 episodes. Kiefer Sutherland is great as are a few of the other actors but some of the acting maybe because Sutherland is so good is a bit wooden. I like the story premise and so far it has been executed well. I thought the show started out interesting, but as time went on, it became less and les about the fallout of being the "designated survivor" and became just another political drama

Watched S11 E21 of Law and Order SVU. I was astonished when Sharon Stone turned up and then Brad Dourif. OK, I'm sooo out of touch with tv series of the 2000s onwards. Sharon Stone is another of the old actors who aged gracefully. Nice.

I was going to post a video of Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct......That famous scene (y'all know the one I mean)....But then I remembered it would be VNSFW because she'd gone Commando. Interesting point: That one clip is one of the most watched clips on youtube and in its video format, it remains the most rewound and re-watched scenes by home viewers.

Resumed watching The Man In The High Castle after initially not buying the premise at all and dropping it after 3 episodes. Took the better part of S1 to get into it but now I'm hooked. The first episode of S2 was amazing. I also love the music, lots of cello.
There's a supernatural/sci-fi angle I did NOT expect. Now I'm intrigued.
Btw, suffering a horrible void inside of me since finishing Lucifer, lol. S5 was the weakest but I still can't wait for the remaining episodes to air. Ugh.
My fingers are still inflamed so I got nothing better to do but watch TV. Hard to find something truly captivating. Lucifer was a special kind of guilty pleasure drug for 2 weeks and now I'm suffering withdrawal. Reality is so... boring, haha.

Interesting point: That one clip is one of the most watched clips on youtube and in its video format, it remains the most rewound and re-watched scenes by home viewers. I remembered her for that because the media went nuts over it. Such a ruckus but I've never seen any of it. Didn't watch the movie nor any vid of the scene. It's probably a good movie but I'm not inclined to deliberately look for it. The next thing I remember her for is the Total Recall movie because that's the first time I saw her; oh, this is the infamous actress in the other movie. It became stuck in my mind. Sharon Stone + Basic Instinct movie. Law and Order SVU is the second time I saw her acting chops. I thought she's fine. I like the ADA character she played. She could have made something out of it but she chose to leave after a couple of seasons I think. Crazy Netflix didn't have all the seasons so I started smacked in the middle (season 11) of L&O SVU. It's running to 21 seasons now I believe, with Mariska Hargitay the longest and original cast member to remain. I'm liking it for the pragmatic approach to some issues and I hope the format hasn't changed.

Watching Marvel's Defenders. I don't keep up with superhero stories. They're all over the place, keeps morphing, branching. It's impossible to keep up with what's what. With that said, the eps are good. I know the Marvel series with Netflix do not last long, as someone mentioned, so I'm prepared for abrupt cutoffs.

Curious....(and you can please feel free to decline to answer if you feel uncomfortable) but I was just wondering....why are your fingers inflamed? In any event, I hope you get better soon! I've been dealing with trigger digits for over six months now. Accompanied by some numbness. The pinkies are the worst but all fingers are slightly affected. Some kind of repetitive strain injury. Inflamed tendons basically. I was at home for five months, didn't really go away on its own. So then my doc pushed me back to work in December on reduced working time. My fingers don't like computer work at all right now and I can't game anymore. But gotta try. Can't miss work forever. Either it will eventually heal up or it gets worse enough for surgery. :/

Finished The Man On The High Castle!
So, the show got cancelled and they knew it going into S4. So that's why they killed my fav character off screen within minutes of the first episode. Ugh.
S4 is the weakest imo because there was not enough time to wrap everything up. Paradoxically they chose to introduce a whole new resistance group I couldn't have cared less about. What a dumb choice. But hey, a politically correct one. So I'm not surprised.
The first half of S4 was kinda crap. But the last two episodes were great imo. The ending is rushed and the final minute is a huge vague WTF moment that people HATED, it seems. Most people were super pissed off at the ending. I thought it was quite emotional even if silly. It doesn't make too much sense at that particular moment. But I'm OK with it.
The rest of the episode was great imo. One character's arc ended NOT at all how I thought but that's OK. It was fitting nevertheless and it made sense. They only did my fav character dirty. The other ones had fitting arcs.
I do recommend the show. It's great character drama. Maybe not the most believable setting and chain of events. They had to resort to several Deus Ex machina moments. But the show was really about the characters and their transformations or failures. The acting was amazing. The music was amazing. The staging of some scenes was just brilliant. Some of the best I've ever seen in a show or movie.
So, despite the bumpy final season, it was absolutely worth it for me. Good stuff.

Started on Empress Ki. I don't know much about this historical drama tv series except that it's Korean and that means I've to prepare for overloaded drama / dramatics; lots of long exchanged looks, long silences, long speeches, flying squirrels, screaming matches, over clowning, over dressing / silly dressing, etc, etc.
That said. There're some good moments in Korean shows. Sometimes the music is nice, sometimes the plot is interesting so they're not a waste of time. Sometimes it's dead obvious in the first ep that I shouldn't be wasting my time. First ep looks ok.

So for giggles, this week I watched "FATE: The Winx Saga" and actually found it enjoyable. The magic was interesting and there are some interesting dynamics at play. I was interested to hear that it has been picked up for a second season though when that will air is anyone's guess.

Finished Empress Ki. Started on King's War. like a nut over one scene in which a few assassins escaped after failing to kill Emperor Qin. The joke is a troop of horsemen rode after the assassins. The chase went on and on with one assassin after another pausing to "delay" the posse and telling their leader to run. Finally it was the leader himself and the poor horsemen just couldn't keep up with him. He's faster than the speed of "light". The chasers always keeping him in sight but never reaching him. Finally he dived off a cliff to a river. Huzzah. He lived!

Any fans of Andromeda here? I want to buy the complete series and was wondering whether it was worth getting it on Blu-Ray (difficult, not readily available) or on DVD. There's a really affordable $30 DVD set released in 2019 but no details on whether it has any extra features (bloopers, deleted scenes, commentaries, etc.).

I'm into S4 of Peaky Blinders. Been on my watchlist for years due to a recommendation. But I'm not very interesting in gangster stuff so I kept ignoring it. Turns out it's pretty good! One of the most badass shows out there. Started out feeling like a bit style over substance but it's a decent family story. And even though Cillian Murphy still freaks me out, he's a good actor. Only thing that has really disappointed me was that the love interest was just a plot device. Grace was never a real character, merely served the main character's character growth. That sort of thing is always a letdown. Still, what's not to like about blurry background badass slow motion walking to cool music?

Been making our way through season 3 of Titans. It was moving pretty slowly - not helped by the attempt at getting me to believe Jason was actually dead when Red Hood is front and centre on the Netflix page for the show... The actor for Scarecrow was...an odd choice. I think he was on Angel, years back and doesn't look old enough to be anything other than a frat boy, but he must be in his 40s by now, I think. It was just sort of meandering, until the 6th episode (which we just watched), bring in Lady Vic, showing Barbara's backstory (kind of cool to find out the actress for her actually had her leg amputated and still kicks arse) and revealing more of Blackfire and Starfire's relationship. I'm thinking Blackfire might be close to my favourite character. For an episode that had to do a lot of heavy lifting with regards to backstory and present day advancement, it was pretty great. The Justice League show we deserve, but will probably never get.

The actor for Scarecrow was...an odd choice. I think he was on Angel, years back and doesn't look old enough to be anything other than a frat boy, but he must be in his 40s by now, I think. This was primarily the character I was curious about. He is indeed, "THE DESTROYER" from Angel, Connor. A role I believe he was extremely miscast for. The prophesied son of a Vampire with a soul and Darla, was this little shithead? He was also in Madmen in a role significantly better suited to him.
I won't say much more til you're done.

This was primarily the character I was curious about. I thought as much Both the wife and I immediately went...Connor??? On seeing him onscreen for the first time (we're both long time Buffy/Angel fans). He's...kind of creepy in the role, but not...sinister enough...does that make sense? And tying back in to him not looking old enough...the beard - which I'm sure he can grow - just doesn't look like it belongs on his face

Two more episodes of Titans down. It is getting better. Casting off an annoying character and a bad actor have helped. Hawk and the lady playing Dove... Adding in Blackfire has helped further. Gar being useful without also scaring pedestrians is also a plus.
