Mass Effect: Annihilation Delayed -Again-

This official tie-in novel chronicles the journey of the Keelah Si’yah as it carries 20,000 drell, elcor, batarian, and quarian colonists to Andromeda.

A pathogen is discovered aboard the ark after many drell are found dead in their cryo pods. As the pathogen jumps species, the ship’s systems begin to fail, making it clear this is no accident.

Hmm, it's pretty much settled then for it to be released on november 6th. As for n7 day, i'm waiting/not waiting for some surprise.

So the author wasn't behind the reschedule, the publisher wasn't behind the reschedule, so that leaves Bioware as the only ones who could right?

Honestly, for N7Day, if there was a video where Casey said, "A new Mass Effect is being made, we'll tell you more after Anthem" and that was it, I'd be happy.

They've maintained, since launch, that ME:A was not a total failure. If it's a reboot they'll be calling themselves liars.

EA has not provided exact sales figures for Mass Effect: Andromeda.[139] Prior to the game's release, Chief Executive Officer Blake Jorgensen projected that it would sell 3 million units before the end of March, and 6 to 9 million units during its lifetime.[140] BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn predicted that it would sell at least 5 million copies worldwide.[141] Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter has estimated that Mass Effect: Andromeda sold at least 2.5 million physical units in its opening quarter, resulting in $110 million in revenue.[142] The closest that EA has come to noting an exact figure was in their fourth quarter (Q4) of fiscal year 2017 (FY17) notes for investors, which stated that $53 million of the game's net sales related to its special editions were to be captured in Q1 FY18 instead of Q4 FY17 (the quarter of its release) for accounting purposes.[143]

2.5 million physical units, does that exclude online downloads? EA stated somewhere that they were happy with MEA's sales so I am guessing that 2.5 million "physical sales" may exclude downloads which may push it closer to their hoped for targets.

Yeah, i think it does exclude online downloads too.

I honestly don't think it hit their sales goals.  I think it started out well and sputtered after launch.  Someone from EA said that they expected the game to sell three million at launch, which would be 30 - 50% of the lifetime sales.  That would put the goal range at six to ten million, six being what ME3 sold.  So even if we took your numbers, they didn't even hit the bottom of the range.  

Also, now you have people from Bioware talking about how the game didn't get a fair shake because it was released in a highly competitive quarter, one of the most competitive ever one of them said.  Hindsight is 20/20, another said.  The only reason you would ever even mention competition that was out at the time is in relation to sales figures. 

Ultimately, I think it was a combination of perception, sales, and install base.  I really hope that they confirm another ME game, because there's still so much of the universe to see.  But they have a tough decision on their hands on where and when that new game would take place.  If the next game isn't a hit that probably will be the end of the ME franchise. 

Would have got DLC if they were "happy" with it.  Game got the reception it deserved.  There will be more Mass Effect games, but they'll have nothing to do with Andromeda.  Win-win situation.
