While attacking the bandit boss of their camp, I thought Kass was armed so I hit R for overpower attack. She wasn't armed but she threw a flurry of punches that knocked him away. It surprised me. I wasn't expecting that.

I have recommended it to a few DAI friends an both are now addictively playing there first AC ganme.

Just my natural reservations about any new franchise speaking. I tend to be nervous and conservative about such things...actually as a note I wonder if I set the bar too high for Farcry 4 given how much I enjoyed the lets play but then the gameplay wasn't...as good and really annoyed me. But there are a few things I have read and seen about AC O which really concern me (the mercenary bounty system being the most glaring) but then thare are other things I am really pumped for in the game. On this specifically I have been wondering if a medeval fantasy game like AC O or DA could incorporate more 'Arrow Style' unarmed combat. Which I would think would be very hard to do given that some combatants of the era use shields and metal armor but Obsidian's comments was a weird accompaniment to that thought.

The mercenary system is fine once you get around L20 but it is easy to stay on the straight and narrow for the most part and you can always just pay your bounties off to avoid them. I hunt the merc's now for sport. AC is in no way similar to Far Cry that I am aware of but I have only watched my son paly them. The arrow abilities are great in AC Odyssey, you need to spec for Hunter using hunter gear to make it truly deadly but Obsidian Gryphon and Element Zero can help you better with that stuff. If you are talking unarmed combat I don't even know how to initiate it other that unequipping my weapons.

Monger - killed secretly Lagos's family rescued from cultist guards = Lagos willingly gives you the cultist clue and shard and agrees to leave the cult.
If none of the above is achieved, you have to kill him.
Saving him is possible if you follow Brasidas's suggestions. This quest determines Lagos's fate and will not impact the main line ending. I wouldn't know if it would be linked to DLCs since Lagos is a major food supplier in Sparta.

I've taken to taking mounts from the stables of cities, etc because they don't disappear when cutscenes happen nor do they wander off. I only have to remember where I parked them. Ran across a mercenary named Nikanor the Crazy Lover. His background is funny; he believed he would meet his true love on the battlefields. More than once, he had to be rescued because his 'better half' did not reciprocate his feelings. Wouldn't it be hilarious if he appeared on a conquest battle on the opposite side and decides Kass was his one true love? Sheesh, imagine having such a companion.

Yeah some of them do have pretty funny names, I killed one yesterday called: something The Greasy Camel. Another was Helen the Lumbering. Actually in one fort I killed over 6 merc's yesterday all in the same room it was fun, it was my murder room. I had already killed at least 10 guards in there. It must have been a programmed route for them so I just kept waiting there. Looks like a painful death:

It's a bit difficult to run and assassinate a mob while clearing a fort but with bandits, it's pretty fun. If it's a bandit boss, Kass would leap, wrench him down to the ground and stab. With the ordinary mobs, a spear through the chest or head does the trick.

I love this description as I unknowingly did a quest: "whether she was feeling violent that day no one knows for sure, she unknowingly did quest. It's time to turn it in." Or something similar like that.

As I mentioned in Phoray's test play thread, thanks to her, Dazk, and reading other members posts about the game, I now own it. Bought it not being sure my graphics card was up to the job but it is...so glad about that. Carrying a stinky body around on the back of my horse because I don't know what to do with it...ha ha...I need to learn more about the game. Being my usual self that picks killing people as the final choice, which doesn't make me a very good assassin. Off to read this thread. I love spoilers and I need all the help I can get anyway.

You did the right thing. This game gave me a much needed fix which Bioware refused to give lately. It's not quite up there with Dragon Age, but the living world and the awesome gameplay more than makes up for it. Also I enjoy most of the Assassin Creed formula in general.

^ Same here. I've been looking for games that are similar to Bioware's portfolio and I'm glad to say the other devs are stepping up to the bat. Larian Studios, Obsidian to name some. Then there are others with their own interesting franchise like Arkane Studios (Dishonored), TBT and adventure games.

So haven't posted about the game for a while just been to busy playing it. Been really enjoying focusing (mostly) on following the main story line and at the point of having to take down a Spartan King. I am currently Level 61 with over 150hrs and yesterday I was still opening up areas I hadn't been to. Climbed an enormous mountain in Lakonia where Kassandra exclaimed: "The gods can keep Olympus I'll take this view over theirs" or something like that. And yes the views were awesome and there was a surprise at the top as well. Have had some stellar success taking down forts silently and without detection and yesterday an epic fail as well. Ikaros has on occasion let me down by not detecting an enemy in a fort and for the 2nd time in a game I have turned a corner and walked straight into a guard. Also had a guard yesterday say I'll light the beacon and ran over there then did nothing which was good for him cause it was trapped. However even with no bounty mercenaries suddenly descended on the fort. Go figure!!!!!! So yesterday also got ambushed by boars and Lynx. Me: Oh look a boar lets get some leather Lynx and Boars hiding in the bushes: Oh this will be fun!!!! So I run up to attack the boar and am suddenly attacked by about 6 boar and 3 or 4 Lynx. Was one of the toughest fights I have had. The best bit was when a Lynx would attack a Boar and jump on its back. Some pic's I liked the Sphynx Was surprised by the end to the Daughters of Artemis quest View from the mountain in Lakonia

Decided to try a tame animal (alpha lion) in this PT. I didn't want one because I was thinking they would get in the way when I stealth attack forts but so far they only get into action if an enemy has actively targeted Kass. I haven't done a fort after the taming yet so I don't know what's going to happen. There's a pet icon above the animal's head. I read that crouching next to the animal will bring up the petting animation. However, I didn't see it after waiting for half a minute. *shrug* dazk, after doing the DoA once I didn't bother picking up that quest any more. I just kill all the legendary animals. The DoA are wacky noodles that I'm more than happy to kick to Hades.

Has anyone encountered an issue where you do something wrong and get mobbed by guards, civilians and Merc's then a bear and wolf come? Twice today it happened to me and both times I killed everyone and then the bear but then the wolf just one hit killed me at almost full health? Was bizarre.

And I am talking about the normal, not Alpha ones. I tamed a normal wolf and he was almost 1-hit killing his buddies. Then tamed an Alpha lion and left it to have 1vs1 with a regular lion. I had the animal 100 health/50% damage engraving on so I thought it will be a cakewalk. Wrong. Apart from the two lions circling around each other for a minute like two nerds in a wrestling match, they landed a couple of blows each. The Alpha did 50% damage. The regular lion did over 60% damage on the Alpha's total health! With just 2 hits. And the Alpha had 100% more health in addition to his big health bar. I didn't test much, so I don't know if all regular animals kick ass now or it's random. Maybe a bug, maybe nature wants to keep it's leather 😀 Also - some pets lag behind their Merc masters and may join the fight rather late.

And yeah these weren't Alpha animals just normal animals in the centre of Athens!!!! LOL re the leather comment. I added the heroic strike 20% upgrade and haven't noticed a difference either?

The pet disappeared when I logged out and logged back into the game. Am I suppose to tame another one? I looked around, didn't see him, spent 2k to redo the ability points, end of experiment. Attacked a Athenian camp. Ghost arrow an officer at the tower, long distance shot at an archer. Head shot. His buddy took alarm, the usual. I recognise this blah blah, said the buddy. Mercenary work. He looked around. I've got to find her. Whenever they say this, I'm left wondering how the heck they knew which mercenary and their gender. Really?! Anyway, he proceeded to light a torch, then set fire to the bushes. Fire spread to tent and he stood there, looking around intently. Next second, he screamed; I'm on fire! Put it out! Put it out! Fire dousing dance. dazk , I got that once. At the pirate island with that Xenah whatever her name is.. I accidentally killed a civilian who stood at the stall like an idiot when I was fighting the pirates who were also fighting Athenian soldiers so everything in town came at me. Ok, one question to all ACOD players. When you got mad / annoyed with a mob, what's the next thing you do after you killed them?

Oooooh, so many new passives, soooo many..... I need them all, every single one... At first I didn't notice they are separated in 3 tabs and was sad there wasn't more Fire damage. But then, oh, boy! Had to put a single point in so many of them just to get those sweet extra things. And you can reset them separately from the main skills. I am going to be building!
