Frankly I find that quest full of witchy shenanigans and was annoyed with both women who're neither of fine character. I didn't kill anyone. I just washed my hands off them both and regretted doing the quest which I wasn't inclined to do in the first place. But I was curious what that second woman was up to so I did it. I didn't bother with this quest again in later PTs.

So once gain I didn't get too much done. Started the weekly quest and went to the Arena to kill some spartans...acidentally started one with bandits. Then the Spartans.
Afterwards I went around to a military or bandit...think it was a bandit outpost...and had a pretty good job assassinating people but there was a cave part under ground and Ikaros spotted the bandit leader from high up. And I turned to my fiancee and was like: "I wonder how deep under the earth he is?" One shot kill with the Ghost Arrows made that conversation moot.
Anyways I made it to Latos and rapidly got two more introductions with the Minitaur. First some guy wanted to jump unless he said he killed him, and another guy wants me to do 'pretrials' before going after it. GOing to be a bit awkard for that one dude when I kill the Minitaur and he claims he did.

Hey Obsidian Gryphon apparently I was reading to fight the Medusa you can lean and shoot out of cover, do you know how you actually do that on PC? I don't think there're keys for leaning since I don't recalling doing that. It's more of auto-leaning. It's like in MET1 when you put Shepard right next to a cover, they'll automatically put their backs to it. For AC Odyssey, I noticed that when I put Kass at the corner of her cover, bow held ready, she'll lean out if I press to shoot. Alexios will automatically lean if I'm behind a corner or rock and try to shoot from there. I ignored the conquest battle for Kyra's line of quests for a few days while I practiced using better sword abilities, parrying, and evading and then went back and did that conquest battle and it was over quickly. Needless to say, other closeup battles are going better too, now that I've gotten better with my keyboard, mouse, and sword skills. Thanks for the help everybody

Soooo.
Last night was fun. Thanks to a skit/ top ten list...well no top 7...on outside extra I think it was where they demonstrated Connor 'petting' a dog by mercilessly stabbing him I 'petted' a mercenary dog by stabbing him and the mercenary all whipped around like 'what are you doing!' and I killed him too. In that spirit too just for the shiggles and the xp I ran around assassinating random Athenian soldiers I ran into on the field. I constantly find it funny how murderous my Alexios has become.
Anyways finally onto the Latos fort for the quest with the jumper and it was glroious being able to hunt through it with just my ghost shots. I don't know how much time I am using up on this playthrough extending it by this strategy which is anoying but its also like heh heh heh. I took video of it which I just might show everyone one day.
With that out of the way a rapid series of almost being fleeced by the people of Pephke and the hunt for the Minitaur. My favorite was this kid that was selling 'Minitaur tunics' took me on a 'tour' which ended in a cave with him and a bunch of thugs trying to kill me and take my drachmae...well he ended up giving me 3500, I was pleased.

Finished Odyssey yesterday except for the First Blade DLC and some other quest. 100% completion took me 215hrs, I reached Level 70, made 9091 kills and travelled on foot mostly 1,718km. I have to say it is probably my all time favourite Fantasy RPG and Kassandra is most definitely my favourite female protagonist. The Atlantis ending was a bit MEH, not sure I'd trust Layla with a kids rattle SPOILER ALERT…. let alone that staff Was weird seeing Kass in a suit I am tempted to start a new PT but I have so much good gear I want to try out in different builds which puts me off starting from the beginning again. I will just try things out for a couple of days but then I think I'll wait for NG+. I also started a new MEA game a couple of days ago and think will have a break and play that for a bit, as well as read my new books. Major Spoiler in the picture below

Until now it would have been Dragon Age Origins, I sill think DAO is better from an actual proper complex RPG, companion based and story driven perspective as are the other DA games but Odyssey has been the most enjoyable and fun fantasy RPG I have played. It isn't perfect but I looked forward to playing it every day including combat and it made me laugh out loud and far too often I was right there telling off stupid Malakas with Kass.

I mean hell I don't think this is the best Ubisoft game I've played and in the RPG compartment I'd even rate Andromeda as higher at this point, unless the story does something really special later on. Just too many big problems with the gameplay and the power curve, for lack of a better word, in this game is ridicilious. You spend a shocking amount of time in the early game stumbling over yourself and running at every shadow only to *suddenly* become some kind of mega super hero dude its...disconcerting.

That last statement reminds me of another game. The Longest Journey where the protag was told she would restore the Balance and fulfill the Prophecy that was to come. The first was done. The last went out the window in the sequels where the original protag was relegated to a minor role, cut up and thrown out. The so called Prophecy was not fully realised. Those were awful sequels which I didn't enjoy one bit.
For AC Odyssey, that statement came out of the blue. I don't like having Layla plastered in my face when she has done nothing to show why she's warranted that power. If anything, I'd thought Kassandra would be the one to restore whatever it is they're trying to do, given how long she had lived, how much she had experienced. Or if she really thought Layla has potential, why not stick around to guide her, to be really sure that she could do it? Of the games I've played through the years, whether RPG or not, my fav char is always April Ryan. She started out as a uncertain young woman with a murky childhood. She had a potential goal, what she intended to do with her life before Cortez tipped her world upside down. She refused to believe nor wanted the responsibility thrust upon her. In her journey, she came to understand the worlds in conflict, resolved her pain and the past and came to accept the responsibility that was meant to be hers. Only to find nothing was what it seemed. Despite everything, she bravely moved forward. Her Journey was rich and meaningful. The second favourite would be FemShep. She didn't have the vulnerabilities April Ryan have. She was already set on her course, she knew who and what she was. What's admirable about this char is that she never give up despite the overwhelming odds. I can't think of a third favourite. These two chars made a lasting impression on me.

I am certainly no expert on these things but from a purely enjoyment perspective including combat which in fantasy games I usually suck it sits at the top of the heap. In terms of the power curve I thought that was kind of the point, you become a demi-god at about the time you level your spear to Level 3 and get access to Ghost arrows etc. I actually liked being able to play half the game fully levelled and with a full choice of powers etc rather than reaching that status at 90% like in most games and being able to only use them for a limited time.

True but I just think you go from maybe blundering noob to demi good too quickly, too much of a one and the other without any real middle ground. I don't mind OP player characters especially since that is kind of the point (and hell Inquisition kind of did this too)...but once you get ghost arrows especially it just snaps. I will admit my ranking of this game is torn because I am enjoying it too and on the one hand I appreciate the lighter tone and humor which balances things out so in that vein the ranking could be, Tier 2: ACO, Witcher 3, MEA. But on the flip side the bounty system and naval combat reallllyy annoys me (amonst a few other things) so it could go: Witcher 3, MEA, ACO. But then if ACO is a better game then Witcher 3 then does that mean MEA might be too so it would go MEA, ACO, Witcher 3. Its confusing.

I think that is why it is hard to rate and debate games because every player experiences the same game differently and it appeals to each individual often based on their life experiences, current state of mind etc. Was MEA better than TW3 I couldn't give a toss cause I enjoyed them both and from an enjoyment perspective I enjoyed MEA far more than TW3. So in most gaming circles that'd make me an ingrate.

I haven't played The Longest Journey, in fact I have never heard of till I just googled it. Fem Shep is definitely number 2 for me and any of my female Cousland Grey Wardens. I think TLJ would still work on present OS if there's any interest. It was working on Win 7 last I played it. Although I'd recommend watching gameplay on YT to decide. What I like may not be up your alley as you've noted in your posts. An example is the Witcher series which has often been touted as a great RPG but I couldn't find any interest in it despite numerous attempts. Some say ESIV Oblivion is great too but I found it boring and not immersive. Others say Skyrim is another great but I can go to zzzz just looking and watching gameplay; put an arrow in my knee to wake me some time.

So I fought the 'Minitaur'...huh I swear I am spelling that word wrong. Turned out it was just Leiondres dressed up trying to get people to give them their drachmae etc. Surprise surprise the cult was involved. Now while I do like that a lot of the side quests are somehow connected to the cult I was like 'of course its th cult!' because it may be getting a bit old how everything might be connected to the cult. Which of course may not be fair either considering at least the Albantis quest line had nothing to do with the cult. Though I am pretty sure the area I found him in was the same area I was in before, and the area where his daughter was was the fort where I went full slaughter mode. Bit afraid I got him killed with him acting as a distraction but alas...everything worked out.
Afterwards onto the Kretan bull...which is the most rage inducing fight in the game. And I promptly got slaughtered. Grr.

Grr. Have you done the quests for Aldo to get the fight with the real Minotaur? They are called United Front and A Family's Legacy and are in Messara. No, I haven't. *goes to check where Messara is on the map.*

No, I haven't. *goes to check where Messara is on the map.* Its at the very bottom of the map in the centre. The quests start at Knossos Palace which is in the centre of the island which is half Messara and half Pephka. What level are you now?

And I know I found it and actually, as I kind of suspected, its where I am now. So something else I might have to do before moving on. Just I wasn't sure because Messara is very similar sounding to where the Erros Bow is so I find the two pretty easy to confuse.

In my case, there was a learning curve on my end, with my keyboard, mouse, abilities, and getting my fingers to work right so my Alexios had to really learn to get better before he could think he was hot stuff with the sword (and with me in control, he still isn't). Such fun family times today. Alexios rode into his home town to meet his mom but just as he got there, two bears got on his tail and he did his best to ditch them so he didn't have to fight them around townsfolk. Then he found his mom fighting one of them and she kept getting knocked out so he tried to kill the bear which caught on fire but so did dear ol' mom. So he went ahead and killed the bear and mom was instantly and miraculously over any injuries, so they could have their scripted talk. Plot armor for the win!

Just got to level 5 and got rid of that pesky bounty hunter in Sami. I'm about to leave the island, but I still have a lot to explore around the island, so no I'm not gonna leave it

Just got to level 5 and got rid of that pesky bounty hunter in Sami. I'm about to leave the island, but I still have a lot to explore around the island, so no I'm not gonna leave it I love reading the descriptions of the bounty hunters and felt bad about sneaking up on the deaf boundy hunter and assassinating him. Then there was the bounty hunter who got drunk and while drunk, asked a woman to marry him. Being one to follow through with his promises, it said he married her and grew to love her and she grew to love him. Such a sucker for the stories but then Alexios kills them. Had the part where Alexios and his mom stand on a hill and watch two boys fight with wolves and one is critically injured and Alexios jumps in and tries to save them. It was the wrong choice because Spartan boys need to learn to be tough or die, says mom. Later I read that a Spartan commander says that Alexios made Sparta weaker because he jumped in and helped the boys. Alexios has made Sparta weaker by wiping out entire Spartan forts but still he was going to help those two boys. Alexios, the homicidal maniac with a soft spot

Odyssey is my first AC since 3, and I'm absolutely loving it. It's gorgeous, the bow is so much fun to use, and the freedom of choice is very refreshing for the series. Can't read too much of this thread, since I'm still pretty early in the story (going to Argolis now), so I'll post some pictures
