^ After picking up the message about don't trust the fates and going back to Diona to report, when she started mouthing about fates, warning signals went off. I began to suspect the word fates might as well be a name; Diona. Her smarming pushy behaviour set my teeth on edge; you're coming on too strongly, why? I refuse you once and you kept persisting. I sense desperation, not true interest. I chose correctly at the end btw. I was very happy to kill her. If I could snarl and chop her remains into pieces I would. Kudos to the VA and animation / mocap, it set a very clear tone to the character. I played a bit yesterday. Kass went up to 64. I'm dragging this PT over to January because if NG+ drops, I'll finish it and start a new one. oh yeah i knew she was bad ju ju just didn't pick up on any noticable differences when trying to choose.

The cultist Diona's behaviour; pushy, smarmy, aggressive, ambitious. The other Diona is timid, ruled by fear otherwise she wouldn't be hiding in the temple and selfish; she didn't care the priestess was killed, she only cared about the clue / message. In the final scene when the protag saw the two sisters, cultist Diona was choking her sister.

I was too because neither one of them seemed worth saving but then I guess they weren't worth saving...they were both pretty rotten.

So in reference to my pwnage with the arrows:
So once again, man have I done a lot. Namely though I finally met up with mommy. And boy that scene was all the heart wrenching and all the sad. I also really did appreciate the fact that she did show her age, I was afraid given some of the other women in this game that they'd not do that because some of the old women don't look...that old. But she did actually look her age. Unfortunatley she was also the leader of Naxos, actually a bit of a nice touch for the game but I still was fascinated by that decision overall. And I had to do another chore for them because they were fighting with a nearby island and I had to help them secure it before she'd have anything else to do with me. It all culminated in two naval battles and I am actually starting to enjoy the naval battles just a bit. But first one was interesting, I do not know if this was intentional or just a glitch on the game's part but I was almost dead and I was lining up with one of the Athenian ships to board it...well one of their allies suicided it right in front of me. So I had basically zero health and had to go driving around like a drunken idiot. Yet somehow I pulled it off to where I rammed the two survivors sinking them and carrying the day.
With that done and with a few more cultists done I reached the end of an auspicious event. I was able to upgrade the spear finally and completly to its max level. So I did another reset and maxed out all the hunter abilities I wanted and restarted my build, I took Vanish this time. But yeah I was actually really pleased with everything and I am super psyched.
With that out of the way I moved onto Mykanos and its side island where another cultist was hiding. That is pretty much where I left off on the day but one other side note my fiancee was watching me and I was dealing with Kyra and the Spartan Polemarch. Kyra wanted to be sneaky, the Spartan wanted to be direct. My fiancee was all like "I agree with her". I agreed with the Spartan and then again had to explain that I am not playing me, I think its been more then established by now that my Alexios is very direct. I'll play Kass more cuthroat and 'sneaky'. She said 'RPGers are weird.'
Sooooooo one last question before I go, how important is killing all the cult to the end? I have heard that it has its own ending but it might be complicated and I was thinking of making sure the cult is all dead before finishing the family story...in point of fact now that I have found mommy I was really thinking of going down and doing a lot of cult hunting, and maybe go back to a few old areas and do some side quests, but I am just not sure if that is...wise.

The Kyra/Telemakas thing is a quite complicated scenario if you decide to romance either of them and in general. Personally I thought Kyra was the best romance in the game but if you want her to be happy at the end of it...… it's complicated. If you haven't completed the cultists I didn't think you could fully upgrade the spear to Level 6. You have to finish the cultists or you won't get the best ending in terms of the family quests I believe, then finish the family stuff and then do the Atlantis ending. Maybe saandrig or Obsidian Gryphon can answer more knowledgeably

But probably good ot know and that is what I suspected since GR:Wildlands did something similar. My plan both player wise and headcanon wise was that Alexios would be bount and determined to making mommy dearest his first priority, sure take out any cult that crossed his path or that he stumbled into but now that she is found he can really take the war to them. I mean I imagine from reading some of the entires some of them are still locked behind story stuff, but the rest are mine bitches muhahaha...ahem. Also I am hesitant because while I know there are nine chapters in the game and while I think I am on chapter 7 I still haven't found any in game way of keeping track of my story so I am hesitant if I need to kill the cult first because I don't want to accidentally stumble into 'the bad ending'.

Well dzak that all depends what you term best ending now eh 😉😛
Colfoley, doing the cultists missions completes the family story, or it did for me, but i ended up in a weird spot where i went straight for the visible ones on the map an only progressed the story or did side activities that were required to unlock a particular cultist, so when i had completed all main story trees i had a few side quest around the world i hadn't done so i went back to do them on my quest to reach lvl 70 an found a couple of them had quite abit of dialogue concerning cultists who were operating in the area an since i had completely wiped out the cult by this point the dialogue was quite jarring so i would recommend doing the side quests so you dont experience that
Got lvl 64 today playing both sides an gathering seals while recruiting decent Lieutenants for my ship, got a fair few legendary lieutenants with tier 7 skills just knocking out an recruiting the Polemarchs in the forts if anyone interested

My advice is to scour the map and do any Black and Gold icon quests as they either relate to family or cultists for the most part. Look for Sokrates and Alkibiades quests in particular and you'll want to finish Hippokrates quests, you'll know if you have cause you'll get an achievement for it. The Atlantis quests start with Myrinne telling you to go meet your real father, Nikolaos should have already told you he's not your real father. You'll get a quest to go meet your real father and he'll give you tasks to do in terms of the Atlantis quest but you can actually do those anytime as they are black and gold quests on the map. I mentioned before about the Minotaur, that is one of them but there is also one that is related to an easily overlooked side quest “A God Among Men” which can be found on Kythera Island on Pilgrim Hill.

Basically what dazk said, do every quests that's black and gold ! because they're linked to the family / cultist stories. colfoley , regards the father quest if you have it. I'd recommend doing that the very last. It's very jarring, trips up the pacing of the game / story. I did it in the middle of the game in the first PT, thinking there's some interesting revelation. Instead, it left a sour taste. I was pretty pissed off because of how bad the modern chars are and how you're smacked in the face right out of the blue. Imo, the devs should not have put it in there. Rather, I'd prefer they put in the upcoming DLC about Atlantis. I think the Atlantis DLC is the last of the planned DLCs. Even more appropriate to put the father quest there. I don't know wtf the devs were thinking.

So that makes suddenly a lot more sense. And that is also really interesting because I did find that quest and that also reminds me I kind of like Alkibides hanging...I'll need to check my trophy list to see if I got the right trophy's for them or something too. I mean at this point I am going to be just doing a lot of different side stuff anyways. I am not exactly sure what you mean by the black and gold stuff. Heh, this game could be pretty awesome yet.

It feels weird to just drop the family quest line for that long especially if it opens up another story arc on its own with the whole Atlantis stuff, but again was kind of planning on it anyways.

Yeah all the mythical creatures will yield you an AoE that will serve a purpose when you meet dad. Re the black and gold things we mean the black and gold quest markers on the map, do all of those but yeah as OG says leave going to see your real dad till last. Oh an when you do explore where he is there are lots of things to interact with that will give you info.

OK just to be one hundred percent sure the next bit of the story I have to do is go to Lakonia with mom, now she mentioned going to find Dad but the game does seem a bit confusing on this too since my next quest says nothing about that and seems to want to be going down the route of 'purging Sparta of corruption'.

I'll be honest i did it an felt like no playing the game again, just quitting right there an walking away, the disappointment, anger etc was real, i had planned a full 2nd PT out with the char i never did which was Alexios an that shit depressed me so much it was shelved and if i do do it that last part will not be getting down. I actually think im suffering PTSD i need to lay down

OK I get where you are at now, so yeah its fine do all the quests you get with her and Brasidas and for the Spartan kings, that's all good and necessary as part of the family and cultists quests. JUST DON'T do the meet your dad quest until you are finished those two branches - and all the Black and Gold Quest markers

I am a bit on the fence re the Atlantis stuff, I actually liked it except for the modern day bit. That was where I could start ranting but as a new person to AC I'll leave you to form your own opinion.

Christ I have to do them all to get the best ending. God dammit Ubisoft.

Oh i do love the game m8, i love being a merc, i love exploring Ancient Greece, i love fighting for Sparta or Athems, i love wiping forts, i love sea battles an exploring with Poseidons trident, i loved hunting the cult an i loved fighting mythical creatures but that ending put me in a dark wee corner whimpering like a baby an it took me a coupla days to semi get back into the game an even then i had lost alot of enthusiasm to play. The main reason im still playing is i had bought a couple of armour sets before the end in anticipation of another PT an i'll be damned if i dont get some use out them 😁

Still anything about a game which subtracts from the desire to want to do another PT of said game would be a major flaw to me and I would always want to play a game again that I 'love'. Its funny I did forgot to mention during my 'journal on what I did today that I have lost all desire to do any of the conquest battles. Certain events in Attika and now Lakonia makes me really want to tell either side to pound sand and not really fight for either of them...or alternatively murder them all but I am still at least leaning towards Sparta but I/ my Alexios just does not care about doing any of the conquest battles anymore. And I doubt my Kass will either when I get around to playing her. Feck Sparta, feck Athens.
