Beta Impressions:
...Kinda underwhelmed if I'm being honest. The gunplay feels off, but that could just be habit and me missing my 400 light warlock. The grenades were definitely a bit weak though. I'm not enthralled by this new weapon slot system but that could be another thing you just need to get used to. The weapons themselves are almost as satisfying to shoot as the first game though, with a few neat new ones.
The story mission showed enough for me to start to feel interested but after I completeted the strike I just got bored. Yeah, I know, it's a Beta but somehow showing me this minuscule piece and not letting me take the story any further just makes it annoying. I tried the Crucible, but I think I'm still in need of getting used to this game, because it hasn't been going well. It has this weird feeling of being familiar but different and it doesn't have enough interesting stuff to do in it at this time to keep me playing until I become familiar.
Again, I know it's a Beta but I can't really enjoy a Beta where the parts I'll enjoy in the full game are missing.

Again, I know it's a Beta but I can't really enjoy a Beta where the parts I'll enjoy in the full game are missing. I know what you mean by the beta being underwhelming in a sense. There wasn't as much available to do as there was in the D1 beta and being able to go on patrol and engage in a public event would have been nice but I still enjoyed it. The opening mission has actually given me hopes that they are finally getting the story mode right. One highlight for me was that Zavala actually died right beside me and I got to revive him. He came back to life giving the most pissed off growl, lol. I thought it was a great way to get the NPC's involved as it really felt like they were fighting along with you instead of just being there. To me the gunplay felt amazing. It actually felt like there was some grunt to it and the aim assist felt less dominant than it did in D1. I think the change in loadout will take a bit in getting used to. I found myself switching to my secondary quite a few times to use my fusion rifle instead of switching to my heavy. Overall though I like the idea of being able to have two primary weapons equipped at the same time. The grenades did feel underpowered imo, which isn't great for PvE and I do feel like ability charges are a bit too slow. I was lucky to get one super in a crucible watch but at the same time it solves the problem of ability spamming. Now crucible feels more like a gunfight that requires teamwork but I'm okay with that. Once we figured out a solid strategy in crucible we owned a lot of the matches we played in and it's where I spent a majority of my time in the beta. The strike was just as good if not better than we have had in D1. The mechanics of it made it feel more like a mini raid rather than just a long story mission. Yeah the boss was still a bullet sponge but he was a more interesting bullet sponge than we the ones in D1.

After playing this a bit longer to get a hang of the revamped mechanics, I have to add to my previous thoughts.
I officially hate the Voidwalker. I was already put off by the disappearing radar on blink, but the delay is even longer than it is in D1. The nova bomb isn't anywhere near as satisfying as it used to be. Now it's almost like that ball of darkness Taken Captains fling at you.
Dawnblade is a lot of fun, but for me, it doesn't hold a candle or small star next to my beloved Sunbreaker, which I'm missing dearly already.
In the end, I think my heart's squarely into the Striker titan. It's even more of a brawler than the previous iteration (even without the insta-kill shoulder charge) and that's the way I likes it.
I'm not sold by this 4v4 thing. I like having my big group for Crucible shenanigans.
But in any case, the beta has given me a decent amount of hope for a more solid PvE experience. I'm really looking forward to shooting monsters on a regular basis and sucking up that sweet sweet loot.

It appears D2 already has more pre-orders than the first one and it's beta had more players than D1 beta. *looking to link soon*

Checked out the PC beta. The game looks and runs flawless. 1440p with 1080Ti, averaging 120fps on High settings. Gameplay is fine, I mean it's Destiny so nothing groundbreaking. But it should be worthwhile purchase. It blows ME:A out of the water, IMO. I really don't see Anthem succeeding in this arena.

I just played the Beta on PC for a couple of hours. It is pretty short and straight-forward, even for a Beta. The game is good though. Graphically it looks solid. Movement doesn't feel like the most responsive ever, might require some time getting used. Shooting feels very responsive though, and the combat animations, damn, they are jaw dropping. I feel like a superhero full on when casting my Super Ability. Also, the game is on Battlenet, which is the best online gaming platform it could be on. It is neat and clean (tired of ad visual pollution from Steam and Origin) and whenever you have a problem, those 'Game Masters' from Blizzard Support are usually pretty lighthearted. Much better treatment than you get from EA support.
Still, I am not totally hyped up for Destiny 2, I am not pre-ordering it just yet - and exactly because of that, I am glad it is coming to consoles a month and half before it hits the PC. We PC players will benefit from having more time and reviews out there to make an informed decision whether to buy or not.

Some gameplay I recorded today. This game honestly does look and sound amazing, and the more I play and experiment new guns and sub-classes, the more I enjoy it.
There is still one-ish day left for the Beta. If there is someone curious about the game but haven't tried it out yet, I highly recommended they do it. I can't judge the game yet, but at least as far as this Beta for PC is concerned, this is one exceptionally fine and polished product.

I played the first game on launch and fucking hated it. It was utterly devoid of pretty much anything fun to do at max level, and the old Light system made me want to shoot myself in the face. I skipped out for the second 2/3 of Year 1 and all of Year 2. Came back in the second half of Year 3. I liked Rise of Iron enough. The new strikes were pretty cool, and I actually enjoyed the somewhat-heavier emphasis on story content compared to the travesty that is the core game's campaign.
Bungie has generally been a solid developer in the past. Outside of the first Destiny's launch, they haven't really disappointed me with any of their games yet, so hopefully they learn their lessons from the first game for Destiny 2 with the base release actually having a fucking endgame that isn't just patrol patrol patrol patrol strike strike strike strike and an actual reason to continue playing after the first 10 hours.

Destiny 2 Netcode analysis from Battlenonsense.
He mentions this at the start of the video, but if you haven't seen any of his analyses before, you should probably check out this video beforehand. It's a long one, but it covers all the terminology and testing methodologies he uses in easy to understand terms.

I must say, the steps forward in storytelling, worldbuilding and intense pvp are quite awesome: 6 hours of solid time spent in-game, loving it.

OK so the entire prologue is pretty great, but my immediate complaint had to be with the appearance of the titan I carried over. Good thing you start fresh regardless, so delete.

Good question since I'm a bit curious about this too. The reviews make it appear that it's more or less Destiny 1.5, for being more of the same with some improvements.

The story is better, if still nothing to write home about and they kinda build up an arc for the villain that comes to nothing. There are also some weird design decisions, like how you can no longer choose a specific strike to do, you can only enter a randomized playlist.

Yeah, I wasn't an avid player of the first game, but to me this does feel like more of the same. I play it mostly because my friends insist that it's amazing, but I feel that it's just... okay. I mean, I understand that customization isn't the most important in an fps-game, but it's exactly the same. Even the powers are to a great extent the same. The story does seem better though, and if you really like fps-games, and Destiny in particular, you will probably enjoy this too.

Never played Destiny, but I saw there is a free trial, so that's downloading now. So far I've done nothing, I know very little about Destiny and nothing of the plot (if it has one). Edit: Hmmm, combat seems fairly straightforward, easy to swap weapons and use grenades. Haven't died yet.

I'm loving D2 so far. I'm not even bored of grinding yet despite the fact that I've been no-lifing it since the midnight launch. So far I've done nothing, I know very little about Destiny and nothing of the plot (if it has one). The first game doesn't have one to speak of. It's a series of loosely connected events masquerading as a campaign, and as a result, they don't really have a discernible impact on the universe. The two expansion packs are much better in this regard, but their stories are entirely self-contained and I highly doubt any of their content would be included in a free trial.
