Okay, why did that trailer feel like a hero trailer for Overwatch or something. "Play as so and so, the tank, such and such a ranged assassin". That was a weird trailer for an RPG :S

Looking forward to the gameplay reveal tomorrow. I'm hoping for something to get excited over

I mean, it's not like a dark fantasy setting with colorful characters that are often able to lighten the mood is that strange a concept.

I can only conjecture, as I haven't been on the inside of EA for 8 years (and that's a long time in game dev years), but in my experience EA Marketing likes things that are shiny and cool... and not nerdy fantasy blather. They've always struggled to grasp what fans like about it.

Alright, now that I've processed what happened today...

The companion I can't get out of my mind is Emmrich! Such an exciting concept for me, especially with Manfred.

I know there's a handful of information about him. People say he appears in Tevinter Nights, but I don't know the story. Also, there's a codex circulating that might have been written by him.

Please, someone, create an entry about him on the Dragon Age Wikipedia. Earlier today I searched for it and found nothing.

To me, you have to have Dorian and Fenris involved in some way. I have a bit of varric fatigue as much as I love him.

Considering how utterly painful it was to bring Hawke back in DAI, I'd be truly surprised to see the Inquisitor again, personally.

Do you think that they still have dark fantasy elements like what the brood mothers are and how scary blood magic can be if utilized for all the wrong reasons especially in Tevinter. I miss all the darker tones of DAO.

I don't know. I don't think "dark fantasy" was ever a particularly good category for even DAO, myself, and the series only moved away from it since then, so I wouldn't bet on it.

All I want is DA2 quality dialogue. DA3 was a bit of a let down in that regard. Female sarcastic Hawke is still the best character in Dragon Age.

Part of what made Hawke have more personality was the fact that they're a set character, and it doesn't look like they're going down that route. So if you're hoping for something like Hawke's personality, I wouldn't bet on it.

The leaks have suggested it’s a 3 person party which will have ripple effects on the mage, rogue & warrior set up from previous games, can’t control them either. It just doesn’t feel dragon age if that’s the case, more like greedfall/mass effect, not the franchise I love.

I'm not really a fan of that setup, myself, but imho I don't think Dragon Age's feel is THAT dependent on a 4-person party. Obviously, variation in party makeup is no longer an element, but just because it's gone doesn't mean that *nothing* is taking its place.
