That's reassuring. I don’t want grim dark for the sake of grim dark like the Witcher, but there are high stakes that the trailer did not encompass.

I'm definitely looking for this. Dragon Age was originally conceived as a dark heroic fantasy. I know some are sick of that but that, and it's gameplay, was why I hopped onto the genre. I don't like very dark stuff but DA:O treaded the line between dark but not too dark very well for me. 

I don't need horror and gore, but I'm not really looking for slapstick. To be honest, if I wanted a light fantasy romp with heroes I'd be playing Genshin. I'd be playing HSR. A lot of AAA studios do that stuff now, like Marvels Midnight Suns. They're done very well. But that low fantasy, slightly dark world to explore was something I liked very much also.

It depends how it's done. Some games have like one piece, like a set. Others you need to full equip companion armor. We'd need to see how the concept is implemented

I don't really mind too much just that bit torn because companion wearing control is something I don't mind but crafting all that armor in Inquisition was a real pain in the mik'ta. 

think thats the intention, and don't forget the GI cover a few days later AND I am sure whoever is going to watch it live will fill the rest of us in on the surprises. The Dreadwo....ahem...VEILGUARD...hype train is full speed ahead.

I got a sneak peak at gameplay of Dragon Age: Veilguard.

Not the entire thing, and can't give details, but what I saw reassured me that BioWare has cooked up a very fine ass meal. Ya'll know how much I love Dragon Age and Mass Effect lol. I don't hide it, and I get some of the skepticism from the trailer, specifically the tone - but from what I saw it's absolutely still plenty dark, gritty, and a huge step forward in quality for the series. If the rest of the game keeps that up, hoo boy.

that tone has been the Dragon Age tone since origins, so I don't really get the discourse around it tbh

I think it's just the style of that initial trailer. The song choice, the big bombastic slo-mo title cards, etc. It painted an overly cheery mood over the whole thing, which is absolutely not the feeling I got from what I saw.

The trailer looks like Dragon Age: Borderlands.

I was waiting for Claptrap to appear.
