Has anyone asked Bio about the ability to mod the game? It's stand alone after all.
There are layers as to the reasons why, but the answer has always been... No. /Arishok I hope the current fan mod tools & cinematic tools will get updated, but I don't really hold out hope for an official mod toolkit. I haven't heard anything one way or the other though. The irony being BW seems to have molded Frostbite into a good engine for their purposes... only to switch to Unreal (but moddable) for the next one?

DICE still own Frostbite and, afaik, their stance on modding hasn't changed, so official modding tools are not going to happen. Modders may still be able to do it through sheer determination with the current tools available, same as they were able to mod DAI and MEA, but it'll be limited for obvious reasons.

I remember making a topic ages ago where I wanted people to guess release month. My guess then was November this year, and so far it's holding up. I challenge you all to guess an exact release date!
My guess is 3rd of November. It's a bit ballsy given it's around the time of Assassin's Creed, but I'll stick with it.

I just saw a video saying because the main character interacted with the ritual, through his/her blood tying them to the fade according to Solas. They can communicate with each other. Hmmm...Hopefully a modder will create a shutup Solas mod like the shutup sam mod for MEA? I have that mod for MEA. It works. Just doesn't shut the sam voice up 100% of the time. Would you be so nice to spoiler tag this? Please also edit your own post to spoiler tag the post you quoted. It's now available twice to be read because of the quote. Thanks.

Seeing Bio made an amazing improvement, and UE 5 with the next ME, I was hoping... maybe Bio can throw us a skinning mod possibility?

I forget there are some people who are just in one camp or the other. I prefer DA but I love me some ME when it's that series' turn. Me I prefer Sci-Fi but it was DA which got me to fantasy again after Runequest back in the day, and I love them both. There is nothing like them. Yeah I was more Scifi too initially an dgo tint oBiowaer's games through th eME trilogy and discovered Dragon Ag ewhen looking up what othe rgames Biowae rhad don eand eventually after taking a fwe attempts to learn DAO's mechanic sended up enjoyin gtha ttoo. That' skind of how I go tinto Dragon Age. I can' t remember i fi twas shortl yafter DA2 cam eou tor jus tbefoer DAI but i twas somewhere aroun dhten wher DA started t oreall yclick wit hme and I'v ereall yenjoyed it since. Yeah DA is a grea tseries an dthere's no tman ygames like i tthe closest is probably the Witcher but fo rme as good and as popupula ras the Witcher is fo rme DA jus tdoes it better for me.

Hey, Bio, did you add inventory improvements such as auto-sorting, inventory tab feature and a "recently acquired items" tab? Maybe add the famous auto-sell scrap tab? That will go a long way in improving my QoL with the game.
How about saving your inventory for the next playthrough? Of course, you can only use items based on your level. I find this feature quite useful with the PoE game (Path of Exile). Let's face it Bio, you keep changing the game with every new iteration... might as well continue and be evolutionary...

This thread isn't marked for spoilers, it's for discussing news and that doesn't automatically mean you're going to see or should expect to see story spoilers. Doesn't matter if it's "already out in the wild", if it's a story spoiler please at the very least have the courtesy to tag it here. If you really want to talk about everything in the article, though, there's a thread for it that is tagged as spoilers, so you can talk there all you want with other people who want to talk spoilers.

SAM was probably the second best character in Andromeda after Ryder himself... And I for one look forward to Solas quarterbacking this team. I need to play MEA again. Yea hI'm thinking o fplayin gthe ME games firs tbefoer I do my pre Veilguard DA runs. Mostl yto giv emyself a chance to think abou twhat warden and Hawke I want to play a sI don' treall yknow yet. As I'm planning on playing all 3 I am likel ygoing to ask th ekeep fo rhelp with that though I think. I as yruns because atm I don' tknow whether I'll jus tdo th eone run or maybe a couple .It likely depends on the time really and when exactly Veilguard drops.

I am quarterbacking this team. Varric is HC, Harding is GM and Solas at best is Offensive Coordinator. Love a good football analogy. I suppose one of my rooks will have to be named Tom Brady.

I enjoy RTwP games and prefer the player skill to be just thinking/planning skills over adding reflexes/reaction times to it, I prefer attacking/dodging and such to be determined by the characters skill. Both because I find trying to do it myself tiring and because it's a lot easier to roleplay whatever character I want when it's not based on my physical skill to pull it off. I also enjoy the full party control and surveying and manipulating the battlefield. So i really enjoyed dao combat in fact it was the first game where i actually enjoyed the combat in of itself as opposed to it just being a thing i had to do to progress. Da2 combat suffered from no detached camera, no weapon switching, and enemy waves falling from the sky instead of approaching through logical ways which could make efforts to be strategic feel pointless in some fights. To be fair it also had better programmable tactics and faster animations (there's no reason characters in RTwP should move or attack slowly or why their animations shouldn't look cool). So while not as good as dao, da2's combat was still very enjoyable. Dai went significantly downhill due to the combination of turning off auto attack and hold commands in 3 person camera while also having a poor quality detached camera. The decrease in mechanical and thematic options for mages and the barely there programmable tactics didn't help either. Yet because i still could rely on character skill, pause and command and control a whole party, and survey the battlefield, it was still more enjoyable then many other games. I am of course disappointed that they chose to transition to action combat instead of making better RTwP combat. But I accepted that decision long ago after the dai hybrid combat came out. They want to do live action player attack/dodge/block combat, they should do what they want to do. Mass effect trilogy combat doesn't come close to as enjoyable as dao combat but it's still better than a lot of games out there cause i get to pause and select my parties targets and ability use. The trilogy also allowed alot of cover shooting though so player dodging and blocking wasn't necessary in the same way it would be in a game like datv with more melee. So we'll see how i go. I've heard talk of help with targeting and parry windows and if nothing else there will always be the easiest difficulty setting plus the unkillable setting. It's not the same as having actually fun combat of course but it should guarantee i can enjoy the story regardless. BG3 has recently joined DAO in my most enjoyable combat category. Hopefully I'll be able to go to larian for fun turn based combat in the future. Sadly most other providers of RTwP combat have isometric with tiny little character models all the time and no to little voice acting, so who knows when i'll next get a RTwP game of DAO's quality again.
Well said.
AUTO-Attack in DA2 is what allowed me to play as a melee character. So, I enjoyed that experience for the first time. DAI removed all that I liked about DAO + DA2. BG3 is a game I lenjoy and can play. Combat is slow because of the "rules" but otherwise, It's a game I longed for quite some time.
Five levels of difficulty in DA:V is promising but until I see the castrated Mage in combat with a KB+M, I'll withhold my enthusiasm. I'm hoping some KB keys can be assigned to the mouse. I still have my MMO mouse somewhere, which has 12 buttons.
This is how Corinne Busche answered someone's concern over mages in the game on social media. corinne_at_last 8h8 hours ago Much of what would have been abilities or “spells” in the past are now accessed in real-time from the core buttons on the controller!
Mana Shield, Mage Beam, Bolts, Magical Blasts, Orb Toss, and Elemental Bomb. Not to mention the elemental types change depending on your weapon.
It very much feels like casting spells, but don’t just take my word for it. I’m excited to show more Mage gameplay as we get closer to launch. She added there will be hot buttons for PC players in a follow-up. I'd say let's chill until they do a deep dive on combat later.

Are Chipper/Bubbly characters not well liked in entertainment media, or narrative RPGs specifically? I ask because it feels like you having such a character in your media seems like a pretty big negative for people

My guess would be something like Nov 18 or Dec 4. But I was thinking something about the release date and I posted on the Lighthouse thread. I'll just copy it here to hear your opinions : so, how relevant is the Game Awards to developers and game companies nowadays? I mean, do they develop and release games with the "Game of the Year" prize in mind? Maybe Bioware is a company that consider this award more important than others companies, since they already won with DAI in 2014? I ask this because, maybe they do think this is something to aim for and they would definitely try to avoid releasing the game post-November? Don't really know when is the last day to release a game to be nomitaded this year. If I'm not mistaken, DAI was released on Nov 18, and it still won the 2014 Game Awards. But, let's suppose that the game is released in December or (knocking on wood) it is delayed to early 2025... that would be too soon to be a strong contestant for the 2025 award, no? don't know, just thinking out loud and trying to convince myself that they are well prepared to release the game in perfect condition until November

Are Chipper/Bubbly characters not well liked in entertainment media, or narrative RPGs specifically? I ask because it feels like you having such a character in your media seems like a pretty big negative for people It became so cliche in Disney films that people kind of hate it now plus Jar-Jar and Ewoks. I worry about Bellara being that kind of drag on this game so I hope they've done something with her to give her a bit more punch. The GI article didn't help with descriptions of her as "cheery" and "spunky."

so, since the Game Informer issue was released I've been avoiding this thread to be safe but I can see everybody is hiding the comments with spoilers from that article, is that it? maybe I can hangout here for a few more days/weeks If you want to be really safe, there's the Lighthouse thread which is the designated no-spoiler zone.
