I hope the aggregated score of professional reviewers is good enough for EA not to shut down Bioware and to get them to keep making DA and ME games. I don't care about their content. I don't care about regular user reviews, either, except that I hope the anti-woke bs ones and the "Why isn't this like Origins" ones don't affect the above. The only review content I'm actually interested in spending any time reading or listening to are from Kala, Caitie, Ashe, and that whole fan council circle because they're lore, story, and character nerds like us. Yeah I'm listening to Caite right now and biggest sigh of relief ever. Though to the other point of your post like I don't really care about reviews in terms of scores or what not or popular opinion. Still think Andromeda is a way better RPG and better game then Horizon or Witcher. But I just don't know what EA is going to do since, recently,they were clearly trying to push their live service angle whose biggest consideration was player retention...but VG obviously isn't a live service at all...we're back to reviews and sales. |

The reviews look really promising. IGN gave this game a 9 while they gave Andromeda a 7.7. this, along with other reviews does give confidence that this is going to be a damn good game.

Some DA4 reviews are so varied that I get the impression different games were played. Either that or the reviewer's background influenced their game experience. How a game can evoke such extreme viewpoints shows there is no objective metric at play.
Interesting enough, all the reviews I came across were done on the PS 5.... all so far. How many? = 50 critics reviews as of now. None were Kotaku's.

The technical performance seems to be solid. Some reviewers got stable 70+ FPS (without upscaling) on hardware that's lower than the recommended one for the corresponding resolution.

Even if the game's score settles somewhere around 80-85, I will say I'm both surprised and thrilled to see how many 10/10 or 5/5 scores we've seen. I expected maybe one or two at the absolute most but the fact it's a significant amount, even if balanced out by those on the lower end, is very promising.

I actually like when review info is posted in this topic. This topic is generally the only 30,000 foot view I need. I don't have the time or patience to read through multiple topics. I am not sure that I will want to play action-based DATV more than once. The thought of trudging through the twitch combat more than once likely does not overcome my incremental joy of a second playthrough. I prefer a more leisurely paced game like DAO or BG3, but those seem to be a rarity now.

Not sure I entirely understand this reply or its relevance to what I wrote, but reactionaries have been losing their minds over DA's progressivism since the first game. As far as there being "less harsh rhetoric" in the past, I'm sure Jennifer Hepler would disagree.

Yeah I will play on story mode ... still button mashing is not my thing ... and can be both tediously boring on normal fights, but stressful for more difficult fights. I barely finished Tomb Raider playing on easy ending a few days ago. Adding on, you can customize the difficulty in anyway you wish. You don't have to "button mash" if you don't want too. There is no difficulty achiements this time around if you're worried about that.

So here we are, where Blizzard put a 90$ mount in the cash shop in a fully sub mmo and everyone buy it in a heart beat, but for a brand new 60$ game, we need reviews from this so called youtube beggars to decide to buy it or not. You can buy the mount with in game currency. You can actually also sub to the game with in game currency. And pretty much just buy everything from the store with in game currency.

Back home - time to catch up!  John Epler is anticipating @eplerjc.bsky.socialso 5 years ago, when i first re-joined the project as Narrative Director after a hiatus on Anthem, I was asked my goals for the project and one of the ones I put was 'i want to see the phrase 'a triumphant return to form for BioWare' in at least one review' excited to finally mark that goal done this project has been both the greatest privilege and the hardest dev cycle of my career to say i'm proud of this team would be an understatement, and to say i'm thrilled at the reviews would be similar whew.

Completely random but my Veilguard pre-load on Xbox Series X just got a 1.57GB update, a friend of mine who also pre-ordered checked her console and found hers had a much larger 45.95GB update waiting.
