And if you use the Companion tactics menu you don't have to be good. Because your companion fight the fight for you. Because you can tell them what they use when. Yes, exactly this. It wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but it sure was mine! You touched in your previous post part of what I have been trying to say - difficulty doesn't have to be based on twitch reaction time. That is actually a poor way to do difficulty, because it only caters to a small and likely forever shrinking demographic. People are having less kids, and this will continue as long as we have no other planet to run to - hoist in our own petard. "Business as usual" is on its last legs, for anyone not aware of the scoreboard.

I hate how for many "skill" has been reduced to twitch reactions and aiming. I'm far more impressed by someone setting up amazing tactics than someone getting a good headshot.

I'd love to have a difficulty setting tied to dialogue, or just make it so it isn't so obvious what to say to get people's approval. I'm currently playing through Pentiment and you really have to be careful what you say even in what may seem like a mundane conversation. In recent BioWare games it seems hard to get any companion to be really upset at you for your decisions (although I did manage it with Blackwall one playthrough without even trying).

I agree with that. I tried very hard to have Varric get all bent-out-of-shape and/or even leave. I will give him credit for sticking around. I would like a feature like that. The main character talks trash to a companion leading to him/her drop-kicking the main character and/or leaving. I know in DAO/DAI the player can tell a companion to get lost. In DA2 Hawke can refuse to help a companion who leaves to do whatever. I would even add the feature(s) to the next ME game.

That's the Reddit leak, it's already been talked about in the leak thread. The article is also wrong about something, since the leaker himself says the video is from last year and not a few weeks ago.

Nah, mechanics can be impressive too. There are tactics when it comes to reactions and aiming such as positioning, the type of weapon of you got, where you're aiming your shots, how you're leading them. Etc. plus many of these games also have a sky in the eye mode which allows you how to plan out and tackle bases and encounters. Which is the main draw of these 'twitch' based games. Player skill. Player focused. With player engagement. No your character just standing there for seconds as 'miss, miss, miss' flashes on the screen. Or your character just randomly tearing off into a random ambush. Your mistakes will be your own. Your tactics your own. And this extrapolates out to companions. We don't know how Dreadwolf's tactical cam will function, if it has one, but there are still ways of coordinating with your squad. Heck doing that in real time may add spice to that experience to.

amazing Felassan has shared compilation of reddit comments of someone, claiming to have played the build. Full post Bits I found interesting: - "I’m not confirming or denying the existence of different origins, but “Grey Warden” was not the class." - "I've beaten all 3 [existing DA games] and have played Dreadwolf. It's nothing like the other games. It's action combat. Grounded though, not in a fantastical way like DMC." - They also confirmed the existence of skill trees, a map, choosing the PC's class, companions who used classes and jumping & a jump button. They said that there are 4 ability slots - (In relation to article from Insider) "I've played it and can confirm everything in that article except for the release date and multiplayer stuff. You cannot directly control your companions, and its full hack and slash". "Multiplayer I didn't experience, nor did I experience the hub world that was described, although the portal thing is true." - On game readiness: "Tbh, they could’ve said it was releasing at the end of the year and I’d believe them. The only thing I could see that wasn’t finished were the voice lines, and not even that many weren’t recorded. Maybe 1/10th. Graphics were superb except for the facial animations (and given Andromeda, that might just be how they’re going to stay). Controls were solid, enemies were solid, abilities were solid, UI and menu all looked unique and finished. General gameplay was in a finished state. Had a couple glitches here and there but nothing that couldn’t easily be ironed out." - someone commented on party size, and they replied "Yeah, 2 party members and then a third based on what mission you're playing. Weapon wheel to control 3 abilities each for the two companion's you've brought and then 4 of your own abilities." - DA lore questions, and what the storytelling/spread of storytelling is like and they said "I was dropped in and out of missions, so idk, but I will say it has A LOT of story elements from DA:O" (Possibly because of Gray Warden storyline?) - "I think the character designs are sick, but that's completely subjective." - "Map design was one of the best parts, and boy were they gorgeous. The greenery specifically was the only thing in the game where I was like "This is exclusively next gen, like they couldn't have done this on last gen"."
They mentioned 2 party member you select and one will be static based on a mission. Am I to naive to hope for Dorian, Fenris, Inquisitor, Hawke, Alistair or other cameos? Please. Bioware, if someone from the company reads it, let me play as Iqn (or see how my previous hero is doing)

Ouch Q: Hello! Could you share (or hint in some way) if some of the characters from previous games will make an appearance? (Beside Varric and Solas, obv). Some old leaks implied Bioware considered dual protagonist at some point, so I'm wondering if it turned into something. Or, at least, any mentions about Inquisition? A:Literally the only people I saw/heard about lmao, sorry. I also never experienced anything regarding dual protagonists.

I'm just going to pray that they decided to scrap the no companion parts and 4 abilities, because these two separately is enough to greatly lower my hype but together? Nearly killing any excitement for the gameplay. Like, fucking ouch. I do not want to randomly button mash the entire game. It's things like this that took a lot of enjoyment from games like Elden Ring and MEA (I know I could switch profiles, but let's be real it was a hassle).
If they end up doing this kind of gameplay I'll just play it on easy level so I can get it over with and at least experience the story when I eventually decide to play.

I do like the return of a Grey Warden storyline, it's the storyline that made me interested in the game to begin with. Am kinda disappointed it's taken them so long to get back to it. I'm also going to take the 2023 release they're mentioning with a large grain of salt, will wait for confirmation of that before getting hyped up. 2023 looks like a stellar year for gaming anyway so plenty to distract myself with while waiting patiently for the game to be ready.

At most they’ll be a NPC that isn’t your Inquisitor but just a bastardized version of them. Guaranteed. But yeah, pretty much everything they mentioned sounds awful and not Dragon Age.

An awesome DA Fan compiled a few more details from a recent DA:D playtest... What the playtest entailed: “Certain part of the game. I played specific missions, story missions, so I wouldn’t know anything about the sidequest fluff.” “I played in the middle because that’s how most controlled tests for games work. You almost never just hit “new game” and start from the beginning.” Protagonist: “ Rook is the name of the protagonist. Like “Inquisitor” was in DA:I.” Someone speculated that Rook would be a fridged prologue companion like Jenkins Masseffect (F) and they replied “As someone who has played the game, don’t try your hand at the lottery for a while lol.” Party Members: “I’ve played it. You can’t directly control party members. A more apt comparison (and it’s extremely weird that they didn’t reference this [referring to the first Insider Gaming report] considering it’s another bioware franchise) is Mass Effect. It’s exactly like ME’s wheel where you hold RB or whatever it was, and choose what ability they use.” “They can always change it, but I’ve played it and unfortunately, I can confirm. I personally don’t care as I never switch to companions in games where you can anyway, but it’s exactly like ME in that aspect.” ”Dreadwolf has a lot of similarities with previous games in the franchise;“ AND ”You can recruit members to your team"; The article basically just describes a Dragon Age game. ***POSSIBLE SPOILER*** “It’s understood that you’ll be able to move from your hub to missions by passing through a mirrored portal.” Portals & Open World: [re: mirrored portrals and an open world]: “I can’t confirm the existence of one, I could’ve just never experienced it from my time with the game, but I myself never played anything that could be considered open world. Funny enough, I never thought about that until your question just now. But it would make sense from what I played.” Q: “Does it feel like a medieval fantasy game still? It looks so sci fi to me, like the eluvians are shitty Rick and morty style portal guns all of the sudden. Does the neon purple take away from that feeling at all?” A: “It didn’t feel sci-fi to me but it sounds like you’re referring to a deeper level than just baseline aesthetics, and for that I think it’d be subjective. If you’re not though, no it still felt distinctly fantasy. Some parts more medieval than others.” Someone also asked about warriors breaking stuff in the world, mages restoring terrain and rogues picking locks and they replied “Let’s just say…the game doesn’t play in a way that requires those anymore.” World Size: From what I played, it seems more instanced than open world like DA:I, so I can’t really compare it in size, and obviously the previous 2 games have been outclassed in terms of technology. Graphical Details: Graphics are for sure upgraded. The flora in particular I would say wouldn’t have been able to be created before the PS5 gen. It’s that good. Environments, clothing, faces were up there as well (clothing and faces could’ve been better with your character, but everyone else’s were next gen). Q: "weird request. not even sure if you can answer this. can you attribute a single emoji to every companion you saw? like an out of context spoiler kind of thing" Q: "Hmmm I can try…

Q: "weird request. not even sure if you can answer this. can you attribute a single emoji to every companion you saw? like an out of context spoiler kind of thing" Q: "Hmmm I can try… *holds his hands up in the universal 'touchdown' sign for the name of the protagonist being 'rook.'* So friggin excited.
So six companions? Interesting.
'the game does not play where that is neccessary anymore'...uh oh. I can see some griping if that means what I think it could mean.
'more instanced then DAI'.
Interesting though kind of irrelevant. IMO DAI was also 'instanced' in the first place so this could mean anything at this point.
