Races and romance poll

Is the “I’m a _____” referring to the PC’s gender or the player’s gender?

Also where’s the sylvan “other” category for spirits, fex, scaled ones, sentient trees, and other correct unusual LI options?

I was going with player gender. Like I'm a woman, and I played a male character to romance Fenris, but I still said I'm a lady who'd romance a male elf. If that makes sense.


I thought about that after the fact.

First Play Through:
I'm a lady and I would romance a Human and elven male. I have never ever liked the appearance of male dwarves in any of their iterations. I'm "eh" about male qunari as well. Funnily enough, my immediate perception of romancing a human female is ,"pass, that's boring." If an elven, dwarven, qunari female were available to my female protaganist, I would give 'em a chance.

Like I gave anyone who showed up at Hawke's mansion a chance In Technomancer I was locked as a human male and flirted with the human women there too but their feel was off from the style of romance I prefer. No matter their backstory, if their flirting style is, "Let's fuq sometime" I'm going to fly away at high speed to someone else. Which I guess it odd to say considering I value Zevran highly. I don't know how to pinpoint it-- Zevran and Isabella beat around the bush and flirt and insinuate and use their clever tongues. Jacob and Garrus were like, "Whoa, you like me that way? ya, I mean, I guess we could bang sometimes." Maybe it's that Zevran and Isabella were the aggressors? but I was forced into the roll of aggressor for Jacob and Garrus?

Second playthrough:
I'd roll any gender to get at a person that seemed nifty the first run that I couldn't touch because of my digital vagina/race, regardless of race or gender.

HIGH FIVE. Morrigan, Josephine, and Sera are still on my hit list. I'm still annoyed Dwyn the Dwarf in Redcliffe turned my Cousland down.

This is great - watching the numbers shift is something else, and I'm really enjoying reading all the responses. 😁

I'm personally willing to play any combination if it catches my fancy, meaning I find the character interesting or I just like the way their romance arc plays out (but in practice my interest is usually f/f > m/m > f/m > m/f). So I voted for all the "I'm a lady" options because ultimately if I like a character then..... I like them, and their race or species doesn't really play into that.

Though I would like to see some more non-human LIs just to balance out the sheer number of humans we've had, I'm not exactly complaining because I really like Morrigan, Leliana, Isabela, Dorian, etc.

It accounts for that, the reason I worded it like that is specifically because I'm trying to figure out which races appeal to which players, not their PC. I put "I'm a lady and I'd romance a human lady/elf guy" because I romanced Morrigan and Fenris, even though I did so as male characters.

As a dude, I will romance all the dudes. I have preferences, but those don't matter in the grand scheme of things as I'll romance, all, the, damn, dudes.
