Races and romance poll

OK, so actually I'd be happy to do any of these romances, but for some pairings it's a lot more dependent on personality.

I'm like this but with humans. It takes a pretty special human to make me wanna smooch them, and even then I'd usually rather do it as a non-human.

I wonder if the popularity of elf men among the "I'm a lady" folks - besides Solas and Fenris being hugely popular, and Zevran having fewer fans but still holding his own - has anything to do with the popularity of female elf PCs? 🤔

I think it still counts for Zev as a looooooot of people pair him with Tabris/Mahariel/Surana over the other origins. I do think female elves are very popular, and not just in DAI with the race- and gender-locked Solasmance. Hey, that could be another interesting poll!  (There've been a few on reddit too which put female elves right up there with male and female humans in terms of popularity.)

I'm a guy and I'd romance any of the 4 male options and then some things that aren't on the list even. Hmmm, but yeah I really am only attracted to male characters and even though back in the day I'd romance the female characters just to see the content, of late I have no interest in doing so anymore. I won't be playing as a female to romance the male with good content either. So they need to stop with that trend already. Give everyone good content.

But if DA4 finally gives me a female Qunari LI, I'm definitely going to go all the way back to this thread and change my answer.

This may be the reason elves and humans are doing so well, lol. Most people who prefer qunari or dwarves are also open to everything, while people who prefer elves or humans are more likely to only like those options. I haven’t voted in the poll (having the same dilemma as Artemis), but if I did, I’d have to check everything. Even though my actual ranking is

personality > sylvans, demons, titans, scaled ones, etc. > Qunari > qunari > elves and dwarves >>>>>> humans

I wonder how different the distribution would be if everyone had to pick one top choice instead of everything they’d be ok with.

Because magic? Lore? I dunno. I would say because elves tend to be depicted as beautiful...or they often wear beautiful costumes or live in fantastical places...in most fantasy series. But that isn't necessarily true in DA, where a lot of those stereotypes are toned down or outright subverted.  But then, there is still the hint of a mythical past that gets the imagination going.

Personally I gravitate towards playing human mages. I went elf in DAI simply to change things up and because female elf had the most romance options. But ended up loving the story told from that perspective. I'm more likely to play elves again now than before.
