There's some things about Andromeda I really liked, and continue to like.
The combat is immensely satisfying for me. I'm not a deep deep gamer. I'm a simple woman. I like vanguard charge, shotguns, and punches. Andromeda delivered on those fronts. (I even had fun as a flamethrower infiltrator in another playthrough -- sneak sneak sneak YOU'RE ALL ON FIRE).
I love some of the characters. Liam is a favorite, and not because he's perfect. But because I'm a first responder, and I know more than a few impulsive young gents who can't stop making references and deflect with humor and maybe don't always make the best choices, but make those choices work by going at them whole hog. Liam resonates with me as a "real" person. Including the parts where he's an annoying idiot, bless 'im.
I like the concept. I've been a bit outspoken in how much I like Mass Effect 3, so I was really glad that we weren't going to play with the endings or play it safe in a prequel. While some of the details of the Andromeda Initiative are "lolwut", the idea of taking off for a brand new galaxy for the adventure is cool.
I do get really tired of the sleeping jokes. I will say that humor doesn't always land, and Andromeda's lighter hearted aspects compared to the trilogy led to more than a few groaners as opposed to giggles.

Andromeda lacked in what the OT had. Feelings... Even in the music

Magic...
(Not sure what's supposed to be done with an argument like this.)

U can recognise the true of it. OT was an inspiration...Andrómeda was just one more game.

Hard to operationalize that. "Put more inspiration into the next project" isn't a useful command.

Getting back to ME1 now that I have it on PC and modded... this has shot Andromeda even further up in quality than I thought. I love ME1, but I can’t help the continued realistion that Andromeda took its formula and improved on it. Better combat. Better vehicle. More detailed world environments. About the only equal footing are the characters and story, but then no surprise since both are foundations for what cane or what should come after. Andromeda is one of the most underrated games I have ever seen. Why it is so hated is beyond me... I guess that fallout from the ME3 endings was far more toxic than anyone could have guessed. Well, that and game tribalism is awful these days. If something competes in a genre, it can get nasty. You know, that's my main issue with MEA. I did 5 runs with the Ryder twins, 3 with Sara and 2 with Scott, just to be clear. The problem with MEA is exactly what you've mentioned: is a upgraded ME1. And that's the problem. I didn't wanted a Wrex 2.0, Liara 2.0, Ashley 2.0, bipolar Joker 2.0, because that's what Drak, Peebee, Cora and Suvi and Kalo are to name a few. I could've liked a badass old krogan seeking for forgiveness and piece of mind, not a grumpy old krogan acting like our granpa regarding newer generation; or a smart ass even younger asari that we had before, nerdy as hell, that is irresponsible sometimes because want do to things fast, but instead we ended with a dumb, shallow teenager, self-proclaimed "scientist" and stupid. The list goes on, it's a copy-paste of the roaster of ME1/ME2.
Or instead a Reaper that wishes to transform the whole Galaxy into reapers (to solve a problem), a Kett that wishes to transform the whole galaxy into Kett (because it's a honor). Or instead a Mako- which I loved, btw - but it's very tricky to drive and sometimes behave erratic if the player isn't carefull enough, we ended with a terrific vehicle, slick, good looking, fast... that don't have weapons to defend it self!
I put the Mako and Nomad on par because of their deficiencies. Maybe I'm too old or too dumb, but the devs stated MEA was not a reboot, a remake or a continuation of the MET, it was a newer game in the ME frenchise. Instead we ended with this ok game, with good combat, with a subtle but very nice way to give a NPC an answear that replaced the old paragon/renegade system. On the other hand is a lot disjointed, the other races are not aliens enough, the plot is subpar and is wasted in opportunities for favoring "cool moments", even at spence of the story.
I was expecting a newer game, with new races, new plots and new adventures, not a reboot of the first game.

I thought the dev's always said they wanted to get back to the feel of exploration that was in ME1? I played the game 16 times and loved it, it does have a lot of the problems and positives you mention but I also thought it did have a new feel to it and I really do not think it is just a reboot of ME1 or MET in anyway. I think that is also why it came in for so much criticism early on as a lot of fans just wanted Shepard 2.0 and obviously because of the animation and bugginess.

I completely agree. Liam is the only character that I feel is perfect for Ryder. Jaal is a bit too serious, though the sex scene with him is off the charts HOT. I wish Bioware had given Liam and Ryder the same level of sexy, rather than their PG-13 romp on Eos. I was saddened by that, actually. Liam is a great guy who just wants a home where he can kick back on the couch, watch some vids with friends and have his car parked in (Ryder's) garage.

I had real trouble warming to Liam as a squadmate till I did the Sara romance with (thanks for recommending it Element Zero ). Totally agree re the romance scene, deserved a proper cinematic one and so did Suvi's. Kaidan Fan looks like you found another Liam Fan.

If they did have a full scene, hopefully it would be optional like Cora's rather than mandatory (and the game actually respect the non-sex route unlike Jaal's) otherwise it would ruin my favorite ME romance.

I got a new desktop recently and reloaded this game to see if, with a newer graphics card and all the patches, if it's any better.
I will say it definitely runs smoother, and thus far doesn't have the glitches or file corruption that plagued my first time through. Looks a bit better too.
Unfortunately, the story still isn't that interesting. I've played for the last couple of weeks and I've only just reached Voeld (And Peebee's running around on it in a half a shirt!.)
And the lore violations still make me cringe. I find it's easier to just pretend this isn't "Mass Effect Andromeda" and is just called "Andromeda", the first game in a new IP. That happens to reuse a lot of Mass Effect assets.

I'm actually glad I missed a few decades of gaming. It was actually buying a copy of ME2 in my mid 40's that brought me back to gaming. I don't have the affinity to the older games and characters that most people seem to have but I do realize how easy it is too get attached too some (Aloy, Kassandra, Peebee) for me. I actually have found out I usually don't become attached to the Shepards or Ryders from games like ME simply because I seem to play them as myself and its the strength of the supporting npc's thats important to me.
I personally loved Andromeda. Laughed at many of its glitches, " one body, 2 heads" on movie night, and I'll never forget that running animation at Andromeda's release.
I'll just say that I was highly disappointed when I learned that the game got dropped. I know it won't happen but this game deserves a dlc, even if it is one of closure for the Andromeda title. My Scott and Peebee deserve it. After 4 play throughs they are just itching for something new to explore!

They sure deserve it, they are my favourite couple and it will really suck if we won't see anything.

I actually don't mind Cora's hair style much. Short hair works.

I don't mind my squad's clothing choices anymore ever since I took Jack through the toxic chlorine swamps on Tarith in nothing more than a leather bikini in ME2.

I don't mind my squad's clothing choices anymore ever since I took Jack through the toxic chlorine swamps on Tarith in nothing more than a leather bikini in ME2. While I understood the desire to have characters visuals significantly different in order to display their personalities I never liked it. One of my least favorite parts of me2 which unfortunately got carried over into the future games. I’m more forgiving in mea as the characters are theoretically exploring not dropping into a combat mission.

Don’t mind the shortness but it’s probably my eyes but her normal hair comes across as grey to me not blond which makes her look older than she is.

I'm convinced that if MET didn't exist and ME:A had been the first game in the ME universe, and therefore no huge pressure from EA (preferably some other publisher even) to rush release and much of the bugs would have been ironed out, it would be an instant classic and considered 8-9 out of 10.
I'm on my 4th playthrough and still enjoying it so much, maybe even more - but I'm never going back to playing the vanilla version. I have mods that give unique faces to 5 Asari and various little tweaks that make the game play enjoyable, like Shut Up SAM. Even after all those patches, there are way too many annoyances in game play. But what can you do, it's EA's decision.
