So started really doing the mop up I'm going to do for this game, afterall I'm going to be starting the End Game very soon.
With that said I did pop over and do the EFM for the Homesteaders. Afterall I was a bit curious on what the need for aid was and ended up having to steal a medical supply truck. Despite my chagrin and frustration with such things this went off fairly smoothly. Though because I bumped into a vehicle and ended up having to do a Ross-point-turn to get back on track, but that was the only patrol.
Now I cleared out two bases. First in Whalers bay, it was just an airfield but I've always been fond of those... and harbors. So nothing was really there just wanted to do it. And it was cool...actually got reinforcements then I heard this humming and turned around to see a drone crawling up my ass. Then Wolves later. Second base I was surprised to see I hadn't unlocked the 5.7 USG. Good pistol, from the same people that do the P90.

Finished Firepower and whew...that base. 30+ sentinels, 2 Aym, 3 murmur type another 3 from drone operator. And then of course the Big one. And then there were at least five patrols near enough to be aggroed by the Behemoths mortars. A lot of running and dodging later I prevailed! I also got my Indie Jones shirt! I have seven more side missions but there are a few I haven't discovered yet. Tomorrow though I have to go to golem island.

correctamundoI like how military your character looks, mine looks all...well you know. But good job. I like the Indie Jones shirt but I think when/if I get around to playing a female character she is going to be in short sleeves and rambo like...or Snake... *** So yeah I got a fair bit done today lets just say . First off I tried again to get that stupid refrigeration mission with the truck...and yeah...this time instead of getting it stuck I drove it off a cliff, and then got it stuck on a rock. So that ended really well. Started trying to clearing out more of the Wolf bases and random points of interest across the map. First area was right smack dab next to a level 250 Wolf base...which is still dangerous for me. I got through that pretty OK but then three of those drone things started surrounding the tower i was in, which led to an amazing game of cat and mouse between me and them...which I won. Second level 250 base I didn't have as much luck at. I fell off the mountain the first time and second time I died the *normal* way. Which brings me to my book keeping conversations wrapping some of those up talking to people and shit. First off Hurhai Ito...I like ya gal but the convo I had with her annoyed me a bit. Where she basically was like 'we weren't terrorists...we were social activists trying to warn people!' If you go blow something up to draw attention to yourself and make a point that pretty much is the definition of a terrorist, especially since it wasn't a 'legitimate military target'. Don't hide from it, don't run from it, own it. Admit it. And if you think it was a mistake and are willing to go on and try and be better...as the faction missions indiacte they are actually doing...then I will work with you But trying to run from it and deny it is not a good sign that you have learned from it...because if you are still terrorists is a good way for my Nomad to NOT work with you. And then with Paula. I was pleasently surprised to find out I actually got to talk to her in Erewhon and ran through all of her dialogue in one sitting. It was really nice going through things with her. More of the constant regret that this game has exhibited throughout the conversation with a hole bunch of people. But it was also really interesting hearing her take on all the tech and concepts of this game. Like the 3D printing...the drones that will replace Bee polinization (and what became the drone perimeter). But also commentary on transhumanism and the rest. Honestly I feel like this was just Ubi explaining things for the people who may not be following along with it. But it was really good bumping into Paula again. They even referenced the whole 'road to hell is paved with good intentions' thing. With all that done time to start the end game. Which I guess the only thing I can talk about without spoiling IS the boss fight. Though 'Point of No Return' was a bit on the nose...and Friendly Fire was pretty sad Correcta. But that boss fight was so stupid and unnessessary, another black mark against this game. Just...stupid. It was bad enough to give Walker super powered drones but...the waves of infinite wolves. Took me a guide to figure it out...and I was playing on regular for christ sake...can't imagine this fight on extreme. So a few comments about the ending. First of all as a weird aside I also started watching the first few episodes of 'six' today, the history channel about the Navy Seals, bit dramatised...seems descent so far. But in the first episode their team leader shot an American national who was unarmed. Well in the first of the Endgame sequence I ran into a character who deserted from the Wolves but he was like 'I hope they kill you' and stuff...and I was just supposed to leave him there? So I shot him. Civillian killed yadda yadda and I do not especially like it but dude...this guy wasn't exactly on the side of angels. Wish I could'ave extracted him to be with the Outcasts for crying out loud.
But then actually hunting through the base with the sub, which was neat that it was Sharkbase...found out all about their little Wonderland plan. Assassination via drone missile sub. Dangerous. No wonder Skell was willing to blow that ship up since that was probably their first attempt at it. And just...dastardly. I kind of suspect too that was also what happened in Asia and it was used to set all this in motion. As Walker also points out though the list of targets was relatively interesting given that it was all influencers, not just politicians, but celebrities too. Walker questions the valdity of such thinking but it does make sense given how much the West and other countries love our celebrities. And that is pretty much a sure way to World War 3. Though now I am wondering how though because...well I mean I know the plan but everyone would be able to trace it back to Auroa...right? Anyways though what surprised me about this was that the map of the geological targets...no major US cities looked targeted...only the midwest...which is interesting.
And the ending itself was a little anticlimactic. I usually defend this sort of thing and it does make sense in a way since stopping Walker and disabling the drones was the mission...though I did like that the twist was we couldn't use them to escape afterall...but now we essentially just have a continuing story with Stone Miles and this other guy who is higher up...so yeah. Just an excuse to buy a forty dollar seasons pass and this is something Bio should watch for in DA 4 if its live service. Though I am looking forward to seeing who is at the bottom of it and if the DLC is as written as the main game then we are in a treat...though we all know how good Ubi is with their DLCs *cough*. And what was up with that drone theatrics at the end?

So watched a video about the Terminator live event which apparently drops next month sometime...they are putting the finishing touches on it. I am mildly excited for it but it does raise some concerns...typically that this is exemplifying my kind of love hate relationship I am starting to develop with live service.
Pro: Continuing content dripped out over weeks, months, possibly even years telling an evolving story in an evolving world giving us loads of stuff to lookd forward to. Great. Works for TV, can work for games.
Cons: How they set it up to where you have to often play it NOW NOW NOW to get the full benefit out of it...meh.
I mean it seems they are going to take it farther then they did with the Predator or the other associated missions in Wildlands...the video mentioned we would seemingly be actually investigating the threat and mentioned main mission(s) I believe. Granted hopefuly not going to be as involved as any of the branches in the game...but its telling none the same.

Well the drone theatrics are already (ok depending on which order you do side and main missions) foreshadowed in Alvarez mission you know. One thing they could have done clearer for some players and maybe made the narrative more coherent are those side missions that give us consumables and specific intel on drone weakpoints etc. I can piece it together fine but judging from some of the "feedback" there are a lot of convo/cut-secene skippers out there that can't.

Proceeding onto the wrap up. I am pretty much trying to look up more info and track down the rest of the investigations I think I can get to, I'm assuming that the 'things will reveal themselves in time' thing will be saved for the DLC and expansions...which its curious that Midas is apparently apart of that.
I had a devil of a time trying to find the Coal Islands...but then I found a Wolf base I missed...in the Coal Islands as it turned out. And then it had the last piece of the puzzle for the 'how Hill survived' investigation. I went off to Erewhon from there to talk with Skell, he had the answer to one of them...which I thought was weird since I went through his dialogue...but I was surprised to see that he had more dialogue talking about Walker's death and a few other things which was something pleasing. Talked with a few others like Paula and started talking with Mads.
And that's it. Got one more investigation to hunt for and that will probably be it.

So I might be pretty much done with PT # 1 for GR: B. I don't know if I am going to actually play with the 'new weapons' that released or not before moving on to...other games in the meantime.
Lets see here: Oh yeah continued to run around and hunting for that last investigation. Had a devil of a time trying to find 'Hidden cove' in Cape North, really had to zoom in to the map and go over with it with a fine tooth comb. When I did find it though I zeroed in right on the appropriate base oddly enough and...had very little trouble with it honestly I think.
I actually have come to appreciate how this game fails you on the quests now, I mean usually that results in you having to restart your game...but the second base I hit was a Wolf base that I missed... but it had Song for a Revolution in it, which you are supposed to be undetected for that it failed. It was... fun though, because I obviously got detected trying to get to the high ground in the middle of the base and started playing chicken with a couple of drones including one on the groundand it was doing a couple...of odd things. Anyways I ended up getting it.
So a review of this game will probably be coming from me soon.

So, I decided to stick with this game a bit more afterall, I'll get to Anthem on Sunday when I can properly immerse myself in it. Hopefully, we'll see. ahem.
Anyways going to 'review' each of the new guns that I got a chance to use, but first...what I did. Actually went around and did a lot of 'free roaming'. I was picking up some of the collectibles that I missed which was pretty fun. Ran into an 'Ancient Fort' that looked like something right out of AC Oddysey, gave me a good chuckle, and well a bit of a snipers paradise with the first one. Also found a new side mission called 'Bad Harvest' in which Sentinel was trying to adapt the drone program for...well they were trying to weaponize the harvesters and starve the Homesteaders out. Bit frustrating, not the mission but my time with it, since I was quite tired at this point probably explained my issues...and screaming when I died. It was annoying though because at the end I had to go back to Ace, which was STILL in the Ag center...and all the badguys had repopulated, oh yeah that is going in the review most likely...
So onto the weapons.
M4A1 Assault: Didn't upgrade it. I was actually pleased at first at the recoil on this weapon and it seemed to be quite comeptent, maybe not quite as powerful as like some of the other burst weapons like the 416 scout or the Silver Stake Tactical...but still descent enough stopping power. But as I played with it more and more the recoil began to become more and more of an issue. Eventually it got to the point where I was eager to move on.
416 Assault: Probably the most balanced experience of the three weapons I tried out. Maybe needing a tad more power, but the recoil seems super managable on it in the first place.
ARX 200: This one surprised me at first just how good it was and stable. Especially for a 7.62, but I was able to use it and accurately plug away with it on head shots even on full auto...until it wasn't. I don't know the recoil in this game doesen't always seem consistent. Granted I was going after gun turrets at the time which requires me to hold down the trigger... which is just pretty frustrating.

So basically the pure essence of free roam exploration. Two months into this game and its rare I've gotten the chance to do this. lol.
Anyways.
M4A1 Tactical: Probably the best version of the M4 I've played with to this point. The Integral Silencer does make it surprisingly accurate and a great weapon for stealth and moving in through bases. Except, of course, when it is trying to take out turrets then it starts kicking like an M60. I mean is this a bug or am I just wildly misjudging the distances. Don't know if its ever something I am going to really use as a primary weapon in the future, but it could have some utility.

When I did this mission i was getting ready to go loud against the aym drone when I noticed the mission brief "remain undetected"... So, change of tactics. Tactical assassination of two wolves guarding the estern side. Snuck in and got the info. Snuck out and returned to Jesus. After that I went back sneaky beaky from the south and took out another two wolves and the radio operator, picked up attachement (can't recall which now) and snuck out once again undetected. So that left one drone and two wolves and the haters complain that the drones "make it impossible to play stealthy". Git gud is all I have to say to that.
So I think there are three pure stealth missions. Could be more.
Today I went back to Skells lab for that last log of Jaces. No more vip profiles to get for now.

So...
The Mk.48. So with all the commentary about recoil in the game I find it funny that the Mk.48 compact...which I think mentioned something about being less stable...may've been the most consistantly stable of the entire bunch. lol. Able to consistently land head shots and do a bunch of crazy funny things by mowing down legions of enemies and knocking them aside. Still, LMGs are a bit...problematic when you are the only one in the squad army of one. Great mag capcity, great power, terrific power for destruction...but a reallllllyyy long reload which could get you really screwed if you are in the middle of a firefight...may be worth exploring but for any Sniper (I mean even the Barret reloads faster) it is neccessary to use an SMG or AR or certain DMRs as a secondary.

dazk correctamundoSo here we are at the end, my thoughts on Breakpoint. My review. Ghost Recon Breakpoint: A delightful mess The Good:The Gunplay: Lets start with an easy one: Much like its predecessor Breakpoint has some tight shooting and its clear tat Ubisoft really knows how to beef up combat in their games. Everything felt smooth, crisp, and well thought out. Whether you were running and gunning in the middle of a compound or picking your shots for hundred of meters away, combat is fun and rewarding pretty much no matter what you are doing. Only thing that held it back was the seemingly 650 meter hard limit on sniper shots where you the enemy wasn't even there. Also the bullet drop for snipers just takes into accunt gravity...and somehow it is easier to keep everything in mind then in Wildlands. The Story: I was initially very reluctant when it was clear from the marketing and the background information on the game that it was clear that there was going to be *more* story content in this game then Wildlands. Wildlands was virtually storyless...and surprisingly it worked for the game. The joy didn't come in playing through an intense story but in working through the interesting and varied tactical scenarios the game presented. The only real story in Wildlands was a 'backstory' involving DEA Agent Ricky Sandoval's dissillusionment with the United States and his overall mission. So Breakpoint went in the direction to include a story...and despite perhaps a rough start it really delivered in the end of the day. It was a story of technology gone awry, of regret, of how people deal with a modern and ever changing world, and it really, really, really worked. Perhaps not the most inspired story in the world. As an aside I do wonder if games lie this and Ace Combat 7, which also told a story of drone warfare gone awry...but drones have been with us for a very long time now in terms of modern military warfare. I mean sure, tech gone awry is a huge part of science fiction in general, but...it just seems a little late. Though on the flip side technology is so central to this narrative that it was nice hearing about concepts like 3D printers and the like. Also some of the story revelations towards the end of the game was quite...monumental. Characters: Much like the story took me a while to get into this aspect of the game, but it was worth it in the end. There is a definite Bioshockian bent to a lot of the characterization and what is going on. Jace Skell is defintley a lot more of a stable version of Andrew Ryan. Paula Madera is definitley a treat and probably one of the best characters in the game. All these characters though seem to have a lot of regreat going on in there day to day life. A lot of failutre that just coats over most of the interactions in the game. Huruhi and the Outcasts, Skell, Paula, Walker, all these people have failed and are just trying to pick up the pieces of that failure to make something of themselves. The Variety: One of my biggest complaints in Wildlands was how a lot of the game's story missions felt very samey. There was great variety in what you could do in the actual missions...but most of them involved some sort of going to an area simply to extract an HVT. Few were the missions where you got to do something truly unique. In Breakpoint however no two story missions ever truly feel the same. It goes from everyting fro rescuing HVts (namely Skell in the first mission arc in the game), to sabotage, conducting air raid missions in a helicopter, etc, etc, etc. But this goes far beyond simple missions to everything has more variety to it. Enemy types: In addition to the drones there are a lot more human enemy types in the game. Heavies (though not as annoying as the ones from Fallen Ghosts) Com guys, drone deployers, and shutgunners. Equipment: Breach torches, sensort launchers, synchshot drones, EMP grenades, and lots more to craft. Each of these things combined with an impressive variety of base maps and locations (you often can't just sit outside and snipe) and side mission types makes sure this game rarely feels old. Faction Missions: I liked them, though I wish there could be more with the actual rewards side of it. But they were an interesting twist that actually tell their own story and have their own theme. The bad:The 'side' missions: While the Faction Missions were a bit of a delight at times the side missions were a mess. What is mind boggling is this isthe same company that gave you ACOD, so I was expecting more...but they were largely episodic and isolated from anything else going on. Granted there were a few gems here like the cold war nuke hunting and the mission with the crazy drones. There were some good ones, but they could be a lot bette rin the future. What's maddening here is that they could've done better. With the investigations could've actually given you leads to new side missions which could've knitted everything together. Lack of AI squad: Maybe a bit bizarre given some of the things I have been saying and for most of the game it is *fine*. But given a few of the missions hey really could've used other teamates...for those of us who don't have friends aparently. the final boss battle: I hated this, some of the worst boss fihgting I have ever been apart of. the tiered loot: thinking about it I think I have given my thoughts on these...though it was really a downer. the bugs: ditto. Conclusion: On the lower tier 2 scale. Yes Wildlands had its own issues...but it just felt like the better more complete game. Though I feel like this is a game that might need a second review when they get rid of the tiered loot.

colfoley The longest sniping distance I've seen is about 970 meters. I don't know how he manged and for me personally I usually don't bother much over 300. I enjoy CQC more.

So I'm back because Terminator is out and I want to play it and I finished Anthem so I am back!
I do have a love hate relationship with LS games sometimes because man as I can see up there the last time I played was December 14 and even in that time...granted a lot of this could be my imagination...but boy does this game feel a lot different.
It seems like they have made the heaviers harder to where only head shots can get them...this is very annoying if true and might be game breaking for me but I cannot find any patch notes confirming it.
It seems like they reduced the range on the synch shot drones...which is going to be a lot harder for my probable second PT that is going to come up soon..but I honestly approve of it since the Synch shot drones were a bit OP anyways.
Things do more damage and health recharge takes longer and it seems they fiddled with the stamina regen again...for the most part all good changes.
And they added a seperate page for your WoD in Maria's shop.
As far as what I did well they did add the next chapter to the Faction Missions while I was gone which was fun because it provides sort of a tutorial to get back in the swing before taking on Arnie...and this is mostly like riding a bike. I didn't really forget anything and my aim was mostly on point and I didn't get into too many extended firefights. Had trouble finding a good spots for sniping until like my last area in Auroa Port but then there was two good buildings which provided good points to sweep them out with Barret Fire. I look forward to finishing the rest of the Terminator stuff maybe hopefully tonight.

I enjoyed Breakpoint but I packed it in several months ago.
With an AI crew it'll go back onto my play list.

So I turn on the stream right as they are doing BP stuff. It ends up being a trailer for a live event...
I feel like TROS Palpatine right now.

I will say I am a bit disappointed where it seems you can't order your soldiers individually. Especially with the emphasis on the AI adaptation for their specific weapons it would be nice to set Vasilly on overwatch (or you and Vasilly if you are a sniper) then have the rest go in. Set up ambushes. Etc.

With the AI team back, I saddled up for a solo playthrough. I'm enjoying the update.
