Why would it be finished when the projected release date is in 2023 since last year?

There is at least 2 more big patches coming after 8 (the one presented next week) at the minimum and they take 3-4 months to release.

Hello there, everyone! We hope you’re all good, wherever you are.

We’ve been hard at work since our last major update, and Patch 8 is almost ready for primetime. We’re putting the finishing touches on it right now, and preparing a Panel from Hell to give it a full unveiling.

On to our feature presentation: Patch 8 is drawing near, and it’s going to be roughly 40 GB (so make sure you have space free!), bringing the total install size for Baldur’s Gate 3 to approximately 104 GB. As with our previous patches, and saves made on Patch 7 or prior will no longer be compatible when updated.

In addition, we’ll be using Patch 8 as the opportunity for a little bit of digital house-cleaning. Once it goes live, we’ll be removing the ability to download all but the 2 most recent Patches. In this case, Patches 6 and 7 will remain available for download, but we encourage all players to update to the most recent version of the game in order to get the latest fixes and content updates.

Bard can choose their musical instrument, that's the most Larian thing I've heard today. Lohse is jumping with glee.
Also, I'm feeling that all those hair options are a jab at Bioware xD 

Something that really interesting is that Larian showcased Gale learning a divine casting spell, there is a chance that Wizards learning divine spell is feature, not a bug. Well, Wizard do need an edge vs Sorcerers.

Very excited for the Bard! I enjoy support classes, plus - for me - the Bard will be a fun RP experience. Love that Rogue gets their Expertise, since Rogue is still my most played class. I think my top three play throughs will be as Rogue, Sorcerer and Bard. Have had fun with other classes, and will do more than just those three when the game releases, but those will be my first three....I think.

Not only does Patch 8 for Baldur’s Gate 3 give players the opportunity to be a Gnome or a Bard, it gives players the opportunity to be a Gnome Bard with *fantastic hair*.

My bard made it to the beach. Vicious Mockery is amazing . So is Perform. I took a flute and I had 3 different songs I could do. I wonder if we can "collection" some during the game.

I might play a bard instead of a paladin. I had a "bard" dialogue option with Lae'zel about Hell being a great place for poetry and she was "it's not the time for poetry". Bard have the worst sense of inspiration.
