Like a team of infernal reindeer, the next major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming in for a smooth yuletide landing — yes, new features will be live before the year is out, accompanied by a festive Panel From Hell that will give you a peek at what’s to come in 2023!
In the Community Update accompanying that Panel From Hell, we’ll go into detail about some of the most discussed topics in the community. The good news is that we’re on track for release in 2023 – and we’ll have more on that in December. Acts 2 and 3 of the story are being actively playtested to ensure they’re up to the same level of polish and you’ll soon discover that there’s much more in the works (or already complete) than what you’ll encounter in an Early Access playthrough. Our goal is for even the players who have repeated Act 1 over and over again for hundreds of hours to feel like there’s a whole new experience in store for them at launch.
We're still paying close attention to all your feedback, bug reports, comments, your fan art and jokes – they sustain us, so please keep them coming or we will grow desperate and you’ll discover us consuming pigs’ blood in the middle of a Belgian motorway like a certain vampire spawn. Whatever it takes to get the game out, you know?
In all seriousness though, it takes time to tell a great story, implement feedback, and iterate on such a large game, so we want to thank you for your patience as we get closer to Patch 9.

I remember hearing about this a few years ago and seeing the demo. A release year is great news! Now time to go hibernate on this title again so anticipation doesn't kill me. lol

Hey has anyone played a cleric high enough to see 3rd lvl spells and the Spirit Guardians spell specifically?
What does it look like? In dnd5e the spirits appearance depends on your alignment but I'm given to understand you don't choose alignment in bg3, so do you choose what they look like when you cast it? Do they have one default appearance? Or is their appearance determined by your domain or god choice? Does anybody know?

There no 3rd level spells in early access since character level stop at 4 and 3rd level spells are gained at level 5.
But going by how things work so far, I think god choice would be how they determined that if the spell is in.

I was playing BG3 on Stadia so no more EA for me. I was getting burnt out on it so it's no big deal, but I will sacrifice small children to get it available on Geforce Now on release. This game is too good...but I really don't wanna buy a gaming pc.

I enjoyed DOS and DOS2, so if BG3 is in anyway similar then I will purchase. Do we have a release time. IO am assuming it is best to wait and not purchase while in Beta?

Define "similar? It's turn-based, you can play barrelmancy and the game is split into acts. Otherwise, it feels more like a only-turn-based Dragon Age Origins, with better graphics, a not totally mute PC, multiplayer capabilities, set in the Forgotten Realms and D&D (5e with some homebrew). Also, way better hair than anything BioWare has ever produced.
No release date yet outside "should be in 2023". I've seen fans expect a release date at the GTA on Thursday since there will be a new CGI trailer thought. But nothing was promised.
And it's not beta, it's early access and Larian has said that the released version of the early access content will be different (not all of it, but part of it). So, yeah unless you want to test things or "pre-order", not really worth it to purchase yet.

Going by what they are saying on the steam page, they are going to show Minsc at the Panel-from-Hell, since they call the Minsc statue teaser something to "wet our appetite". He's been datamined ages ago.
That probably means they are adding Minsc to the EA too...who's going to just enter in conflict with everyone in the current party once he learn more about them: - Lae'zel is lucky Minsc probably doesn't know much about her species yet. - Astarion better not go around telling Minsc he's a vampire. - Ditto for Shadowheart, better keep Shar hidden darling. - Wyll, yeah, maybe better not telling that your master is of the demonic kind to Minsc - Gale, your safe, connecting your dots requires knowing quite a bit of Forgotten Realms lore that I'm sure Minsc doesn't know about.

I was expecting a CGI trailer with Minsc, instead we got our first sight of post early access content and our first look at Jaheira and Minsc.
Jaheira appearance was datamined a few patches ago, that's why I know with 100% certainty that it is her. And since she's in the second map of act 1. Are we getting more content in early access?

Didn't expect to see Jaheira! She's not my favorite character, but her presence suggests there may be more of a tie to the old games than I anticipated. Shine on, you grumpy druid! I've actually missed you!
Now, the big question is if Jim Cummings is coming back as Minsc. (please, please, please) Haven't found anything on IMDb one way or the other yet.
