I bet they'd prefer lower player numbers (less servers to maintain, less marketing budget) but more "crazies" (like the one who spent 15000$ on ME3MP) You know, like Star Citizen is doing, with about the same number of players/beta testers than Anthem, but some people spending 1000s on virtual not yet released spaceships If it was about money we'd have a much better store with much more possibilities to spend (real) cash. It's really weird. Well, that IS very true. One could take this train of thought a little further, and conclude that there are only 2 reasons that they haven't fixed the store yet. a) they really don't WANT to have a game based on MTX. Goign against EA: A noble pursuit. their bussiness plan didn't involve MTX and the meagre amount they're pulling in isn't worth the hassle to reform the store. They were going to cash in at launch, and see how far that took 'm. If they make it long enough to make it to an "expansion" they can sell again, good. If not, cancel.

My heart wants to say Bioware is ignoring the store because they hate it, but the more likely scenario is that they don't have enough designers for it (low staff count all around) and the game is doing so poorly that it makes little sense to invest into this aspect now. Before, they were in damage control mode and probably didn't have time to upgrade the store and now the game is so dead, why bother?

The community meme'd every patch because it was like 10 pages of patch notes, 8 of them all concerning the shop changes 😂 So yeah, it's not like Bioware doesn't want or not know how to monetize. They just don't have something to monetize, both as a game and shop offerings.

Well it's a nice thought to think that one day we'll look back upon the first year of anthem and say: "Remember when it was shitty?" But my faith in bioware is below 0 at this point in time.

that's the thing, less effort and less investment to maximize the profit. Mobile gacha is the only approach for Anthem right now. I'm sure EA would be pleased that way after this debacle.

Uninstalled post #1125436. So fierce. So rebellious. *swoon* And now we have the answer to "What makes PillarBiters swoon?".
Anthem supposedly sold between 3 and 5 million copies to date. Your uninstall number is ridiculously optimistic - you think 20-35% of the buyers went to the forums to post about it? That must be more than all other critic posts Anthem got so far. But if you count the masochists that keep reinstalling...

Or C) they've been scrambling with Anthem's mess since the launch so hard, that the store was left as an afterthought, especially since the store utilization had to be rebuilt, after the Star Wars Battlefront 2 debacle.

Are we sure they had even a resemblance of a game, let alone a shop, when the BF2 debacle was raging? Wasn't that in the Schreier article? That after the BF2 thing, they went back and remade the store's purpose, because it was originally supposed to have equipment etc.? I do remember reading or hearing something about it, but I can't remember where. My memory isn't that good.

I don't uninstall Bioware games lightly (I think I still have pretty much all of their other games still installed). It was quite the cathartic moment tbh.

NMS is mostly a single player game. Without players, a multiplayer game won't survive I had hope for Firefall, but once the player base went under 1000 players, it couldn't be salvaged. Places were deserted, pushing remaining players out

I am suprised that anyone still discussing Anthem this days. This game looks dead for literally everyone outside BSN. Well, I still play it for the fun of it. I just pretend it's made by someone who knows what it's doing In any case, "dead" might be a strong word. It's not THAT hard to find a game, and judging from the subreddit, having it available on EA access is bringing in a bit of newbies (who actually have a lot of positive to say about it... but what do they know? They weren't here at the start.). So it's not "dead", except for in our hearts. Also, It depends on what their next unveil is. I mean,w e knew that the cataclysm was coming. We have absolutely zero clues about what content is coming next though, as seemingly the acts were cancelled. So...if they mess up next time (highly likely, going off their track record), there's no more fallback option except free to play.

After almost 2 years Battlefront 2 started dropping PvE content that could be played entirely solo. Some people think it's a sign that the game is nearing the end of it's support and the developers try to leave it with playable modes even when the population drops below the required minimum.
Anthem can be played solo in lower difficulties, but some tweaking for specifically solo SH experience is an option too. Solo Cataclysm too. Can be done pre or post Free-to-play. But does anyone think EA cares enough to bother?

It really depends what their internal vision of the game is. If the big kahuna thinks: "this is first and foremost a multiplayer game", then they'll probably never do it. If he thinks "thisis a biowar egame with lore 'n shit", then it might happen.

Why would they? Solo sells nothing, delivers no peer group pressure, isnt really marketable.
