while there is the blight over there again, that Denerim has been lost and the horde of darkspawn is attacking all over the country. Harding forgets this again with Neve at one point. I am firmly of the opinion that everything to do with the Inquisitor was tacked on in the last year of development, if not shorter, because it just clearly is. If you removed every inqusitor scene, the game would be unchanged. I said in my review I would not have Inq in the game. I also said in my review I would rather have Inq filling the role of Varric.

Every time I saw my Trevalyan I was like "why are you here, you aren't adding anything?"

What they should have done is to ditch the idea of rook and make the inquisitor the main character here as well. That would have actually made sense. But I guess it's too much work

They exist purely for the Solasmancers, just like how an entire ending was devoted to the Solasmancers. Nobody else really wanted to redeem that POS. I mean, I admit, initially, he was my friend. But when I read of him in Tevinter Nights i realized everything in DAI was a lie- not just the actual lie of his being a harmless apostate, but all of the connection he engendered in us for a friendship was a grand manipulation and I said, even the Inqy who thought they were friends would now do anything to stop him.

The more I think of it the more dumb it is. It makes so little sense that harding and Varric will keep going while the inquisitor is seeping margarita in the south.
Just dumb

The structure of the story is also a real and total copy and paste from M2 as well, without there being the same intelligence, zero creativity moreover on the part of the dragon age team there.
They copied M2 without understanding why with this game, spending all your time recruiting, strengthening your allies first made sense, was consistent, relevant and it was not necessarily the case in Veilguard. First of all, M2 was a continuation of a first episode, there was internal consistency. In M2, the collectors act in the shadows at the borders, attacking small colonies, unknown. And the space of the citadel is mostly at peace, no one believes in the return of the reapers or denies it, so it is normal that the feeling of urgency only arises at the end. It's normal that Shepard is all alone investigating and fighting the collectors with his team. Shepard can take the time to resolve his team's personal issues as well.
But in Veilguard, everyone immediately believes you from the start, the world is under attack, with supposedly the worst horrors. The old elven gods attack ! Why are there so few reactions, so little help lol ? Only the warden commander has strong doubts, the rest isn't adressed at all. Spending your time strengthening 7 individuals by the way while we are at war and in a situation of existential threat, instead of trying to unite and convince the northern nations of Thedas. The Anders have an army you know, and Grey wardens are popular among them. I am to believe that they don't care about the city of Lavendel and won't help ? What a joke honestly.
Rook has absolutely zero reasons to not contact the authorities of Tevinter by the way. He just listened to a bad advice from Neve, and he too easily abandoned the case while he didn't do such thing with the wardens. Surely the threat of an archdemon and a dragon, and the Venatori helping the elven gods against Tevinter, could make the authorities of Tevinter at least listen to what he could state ?
During all act 1 and 2 I wondered why my Rook felt so alone except once at Wesshaupt.
Honestly It didn't bother me that they could copy a little on M2, but I didn't suspect, the same exact pattern would take almost all the game. At least act 1 and 2.

could make the authorities of Tevinter at least listen to what he could state ? But see, that would cost money to animate and require good writers to write and an interest at all in actually exploring the culture in Thedas. They are more interested in destroying everything so they don't have to deal with any pesky worldbuilding details in the future. Details are expensive!

ME2 also had the ambiguity of TIM specifically setting you up with the team with some behind the scenes manipulation, Veilguard doesn't seem to have that extra layer outside of Solas scenes.

I said in my review I would have Inq in the game. I also said in my review I would rather have Inq filling the role of Varric. Well, yes, and I can agree with those things. My point that the game would be unchanged if all those scenes were cut is still true. They exist purely for the Solasmancers, just like how an entire ending was devoted to the Solasmancers. Nobody else really wanted to redeem that POS. I saw the ending with female elf Inq and chuckles ... Whatever. If only there was an ending for my Inq to stab chuckles.

I watched the "bad ending" and not only is that line that Rook says pretty badass, stabbing definitely happened. Since I don't want a bunch of companions to die, I'll settle for the "I'm a fool" ending, which is still pretty good.

Oh man, ya'll remember this parody video that dropped right after the big trailer 3 months or so back? It's so true in retrospect. Do you also remember all the pearl-clutching that went on afterwards? Oh well, I guess they're still happy with the product or they keep quiet and pretend it didn't happen.

That felt like cheap shit for the kids who don't know what's going on.

Something is certain, it's already decided, even if there is DA5, which I wish it doesn't happen, I won't be buying it. It will be even worse. They totally destroyed this fantasy world, the interest of it. I'm now totally detached and apathetic. I officially removed the badge of being a dragon age fan since nobody cares anymore about the universe of dragon age at Bioware. I will just replay a last time DAO after Veilguard, to have the real happy ending I want, with my warden ending the fifth blight, ruling Ferelden with Anora, and will end there. End of story.

SyvIt's very easy to ignore Veilguard and keep everything from the first three games. I'll keep the part where Solas was miserable at the end, the romance of Lucanis, and the lore I was curious about being confirmed. All I'm keeping.

That's a bit dramatic. Even if I'll probably never touch the Veilguard again and even inquisition is not really game I'm itching to come back to, I'm sure a couple of years from now I will do another origins or DA2 playthrough and I couldn't care less for the silly fan fic otherwise known as the Veilguard
