I would like to see DA2, at it's full potential, not the rushed product that we got instead originally lol. II is my favorite in the series, if they had a quarter of the time Veilguard developers abused, we'd have gotten an undisputed masterpiece. As it currently stands, I have a bit of a problem with the narrative of da2 when it came to the mage and templar thing lol. They took a complex matter from DAO and completely tore away any nuance or subtlety from it. It comes across as 'templars bad, mages good' when that wasn't the narrative in DAO.

Could you explain to us how you think DA2 tore away any nuances about Mage v. Templar? Because, to be honest, I think DA2 explores the topic more effectively than any other releases and even more than DAO.

Could you explain to us how you think DA2 tore away any nuances about Mage v. Templar? Because, to be honest, I think DA2 explores the topic more effectively than any other releases and even more than DAO. Because they treated mages in DA2 like they were the victims when in DAO as we can see in the broken circle quest line that even with templar supervision, they are dangerous. They can turn into abominations - which even templars can have a hard time dealing with. There was also the matter of the magi fraternities which DA2 dropped. Uldred was a member of the Liberations, mages who wanted freedom from the templars, and Loghian presumably made him a deal to work with him on that. Jowan was also presumably one of his apprentices. I feel like DA2 was in essence saying that what Uldred did was okay - despite him torturing other mages into abomination and summoning demons into the hold using blood magic, because why not? Uldred wanted freedom from the templars and the ends justify the means. There was also Connor. Who terrorized an entire town not because of any mistreatment, but because he couldn't control it - that and he was possessed by a desire demon.

What do they even do to revive interest in the Dragon Age IP after this? Remaster or remake Origins and II? Simple actually: Make a measured sequel that incorporate all the aspect we like. Origins remake/remaster is ridiculous, the game is totally playable, and the only thing that need need to be fixed is the memory leak. Dragon Age 2 *may* need remake/remaster. But these talks Ultimately wouldn't matter because those who are involved in these games already left, apart from Epler maybe. Veilguard is not Baldur's Gate 3 level success that much is clear, all we can hope is that it met EA expectations, so that another sequel is possible in the near future, not in 30 years. Also I wouldn't want to trust known youtuber propagandist/grifter, even if what they say *may* *seem* like accurate.
Not on my PS5 its not.

Privately, I agree with you, but I love DA2 so much for other reasons that I try not to think about that aspect of the writing. I really do wish they'd take more cues from that game - it's by far my favorite.

Just for fun, here’s another small YouTuber and fairly dedicated BioWare fan who broke under the torture of playing Veilguard.

All I know is that a child showing any magical ability was ripped away from their parents and jailed for life. Oh sure a gilded cage perhaps but still a jail. And here we have Templars secretly taking lyrium to counter mage skills.
That whole system is crap and I for one am glad the mages are now free.

The tactical AI script was a wonder, including the Auto Attack feature. DAI was a failure in my eyes.

Just for fun, here’s another small YouTuber and fairly dedicated BioWare fan who broke under the torture of playing Veilguard. That pretty much sums up my feeling towards this game. Also...probably irrelevant, but I can't look at Morrigan any longer. What did they do to her? Aside of the obvious failure in getting her characterization right... why does she have to wear two bra?

Not because they are a shining beacon of morality or anything, but because the alternative is much worse, even if later DA instalments were too pussies to actually explore it

Rook can ask if things are awkward with Rana Savas being a templar working with Neve as a mage but we see like, none of the traditional mage/templar conflict so there's almost no reason to ask that.
I mean, I might have missed something, Veilguard fascinated me in the way jangling something shiny in front of a toddler would.
