Going back to the original release and complaints on the official BSN... Allers was included with the game and Javik had to be obtained thought a DLC. They felt that time spent adding Allers could have been used to include Javik. Note: This was the most common complaint as I recall.That sounds about right as an origin of the complaint. But you could swap Allers for anyone else and it would still play out the same way. Which is why I don't get the continued hate or dislike. The character position only exists to gain or lose some bonus EMS. She was also a cross promotion for IGN, which didn't settle well with many. I made this a loooong time ago....

The series already have two female reporters Emily Wong and Khalisah Bint Sinan Al-Jilani. But Emily Wong was killed off on real life Twitter    and we have get this arrogant & bad voiced character who only was added for a IGN Deal. Or i don´t know and that´s not a joke its because Jessica Chobot is a good PSP licker. 
I mean a character must be really bad if you rather want to have Khalisah on board than her.
So yeah in my opinion Diana Allers is one of most hated characters because she doesn´t feel right in this series and kill off an already well liked and similiar character Emily Wong for her on Twitter.

No that wasn´t reason back then.  Wong would have been a better choice...I just can't see Shepard letting Al-Jilani get anywhere near the Normandy's crew. THOUGH I can see Javik throwing her out the airlock. Actually that might be reason to invite her onboard.

I just can't see Shepard letting Al-Jilani get anywhere near the Normandy's crew. It´s not impossible that in times of war people who dislike eachother work together for a common goal. Also who said that Khalisah would be mandatory? She would be of course an optional character. You or your Shepard doesn´t want her on the Normandy well deny her request.
But if player allows that well unlike Allers this could be interessing because of the already established relationship between Shepard and Al-Jilani.

Bioware disagrees with you about Kelly. She grants the achievement in ME3. That doesn’t happen with flings/FwB/etc. Also according to her writer sex doesn’t necessarily occur. That’s up to the player. |

What’s wrong with you, since clearly your character is against free speech and freedom of the press. And personally belittles others apparently. Emily is always nice because she always wants something from Shepard. We have no idea what she’d be like normally, so thinking she’s perfect is only headcanon. As for the video, if you side with her she shows empathy towards the soldier and even compromises with him. |

Also that all the countries are doing in wartimes. Its also kinda dump to say to public lets Terra Nova die. Even if it is strategically correct at the end. Everybody in series wants Shepard or Ryder to do something.  Also compare her behavior with that from Khalisah. Emily is just a nice person nothing more nothing less.
And don´t forget she only show up in ME 1. ME 2 doesn´t really count because Shepard don´t have the option to interact with her.

So if you argue people should only say and do what you agree with and everyone else should shut up, well then I hope you are never in a position of authority. I don’t agree with her opinion, or any of the other ruthless calculus arguments, but I don’t agree with becoming a dictator and censoring those people either. Prove it. Prove to me she is just a nice person nothing more and nothing less. Only with in game evidence. |

So if you argue people should only say and do what you agree with and everyone else should shut up, well then I hope you are never in a position of authority. I don’t agree with her opinion, or any of the other ruthless calculus arguments, but I don’t agree with becoming a dictator and censoring those people either. Its totally dangerous to allow 100% free speech in a society. I guess some americans will always disagree with me but i don´t care. "A let thousand / millions people die statement should never be allowed. And speaking of dictatorship denying the Holocaust (which could only be theoretically very far-fetched as free speech) is a real crime which will be punished in many european states.

It´s impossible because she has so less screentime but you can´t also prove it that she isn´t a nice person.
And doing her job as reporter or TV Anchor doesn´t make her unsympathetic. She wants some scoops from Shepard and that´s all.

Congratulations, you support snuffing out the things that led to women and minorities of all kinds actually getting rights. Also since you Godwin Law’d this, depending on who won them it would be illegal to speak bad of the Holocaust. That’s a far worse crime that a few people being idiots. Thank you for proving my point and agreeing with me. For the record I also believe Emily is genuinely nice, as is Diana. Even Khalisah’s heart is in the right place as we see, And in MEA Keri is probably a better person than any of them. They have yet to have a reporter who is a bad person. |

This happened in my playthrough lol. After all Ashley's been through, Cortez' death is what finally set her off. She makes the same noise whenever she's hit by a warp. She also does some over-the-top screaming when discussing dropping the mako into Ilos and when shepard is about to open a comm channel from the Citadel also in ME1. I personally don't Ashley's VA is very good VA when it comes to depicting appropriate levels of emotion.

One of the terms of Allers's tenure on the Normandy is that Shepard has full veto power over anything she reports. Just putting that out there.
What I don't get is why the wouldn't just let us choose between Emily and Kalisah like they do Chakwas and Michelle.

Also it speaks volumes that Diana hadn´t appeared or even be mentioned in the Citadel DLC. I mean she could have been the one who interviewed Anderson but no. I guess that Bioware isn´t really a big fan of this Diana Allers character.
She was just a marketing deal not a needed character for the overall story.
Not enough time and money i guess. Also Chakwas could die in ME 2 so they needed a replacement for Karin in this scenario. But Emily and Khalisah couldn´t die so they would likely have focus on the popular option Emily if they hadn´t kill their off on Twitter.
