It's a complete mess. I wanted to try and figure out how the insignias worked so that my uniform retextures could have some degree of accuracy, but I just gave up in the end and gave Shep three gold stripes. That uniform is great! TY. I used to have quite a few Projects on the official BSN, but only release one on Nexus so far. I managed to save all, but one of my Project mods.....I haven't been able to find the files for my original SW Normandy bed sheets... My intention is to convert them to MELE mods...I just need to get to the game that they're for (still playing ME1LE).

The rankings in ME don't lineup with RL. I went through USN and USMC ranks with no luck, assuming it's even moderately based on US military. I wrote a fic set in the MEU and had to basically create the ranks to fit my characters moving up ranks. It's a complete mess. I wanted to try and figure out how the insignias worked so that my uniform retextures could have some degree of accuracy, but I just gave up in the end and gave Shep three gold stripes. Do you have those available for download? Do they work for femshep as well? Those Star Wars sheets look awesome also.

I have the .dds, .tpf...and my primary .psd. They should work on FShep. Had to use Texmod back in the day and uniforms would show up on NPCs. They don't look too bad...

Do you have your notes for this? Do you recall the original texture name? I find this an interesting little mod I have my base file (the canvas) and I remember the tweaks I had to do to get it to look like the set I had when I was a kid, so it shouldn't be impossible to recreate.

First, those textures are awesome. I'm always impressed when someone creates something so cool of their own initiative, purely for their own enjoyment and that of others. Very nice. Secondly, Mass Effect military ranks will cause nosebleeds, and possibly brain hemorrhage, if examined too closely. Some seem drawn from USN, some from USMC, and some from RAF (Flight Lieutenant being the one I caught). Instead of free-wheeling with these, I wish they'd assigned a single writer to make up a standardized list of ranks. They're Canadians. They could've used the Canadian military. Being from the US, I'd likely have chosen the USN. The real world inspiration is less important than the resulting consistency. This would've taken a writer with internet access 30 minutes. It's always disappointing to me how often they botch military details in a game about space marines. It's not a huge deal, but it momentarily kills my immersion every time a miscue rears its head. And I'm not even a veteran of the services. I'm just a guy who reads a lot and likes to be informed. EDIT: I decided I should refresh my memory on what the Codex says, and I rediscovered the Systems Alliance military ranks list. There's also discussion of the thin line between Naval and Marine personnel, and the traditional naming conventions that still exist. Some of the cited differences are not correctly reflected in-game*, but at least they did make the effort to standardize this stuff. * One such example is "Serviceman" Bhatia, who should've been "Private" or "Corporal" Bhatia. I'll put the ranks chart below in an sblock.
The Alliance uses a modified version of the ranking system that has been used for hundreds of years. Soldiers are classified into rank-and-file enlisted personnel, experienced non-commissioned officers (NCOs), and specially trained officers.
The divide between naval personnel and ground forces ('marines') is small. Ground units are a specialized branch of the fleet, just as fighter squadrons are. This unity of command is imposed by the futility of fighting without control of orbit; without the navy, any army is pointless. The marines, as a matter of pride, maintain some of their traditional rank titles; for example, marines have Privates and Corporals instead of Servicemen.
In ascending order of responsibility, the ranks of the Alliance are:
ENLISTED
Serviceman 3rd Class / Private 2nd Class Serviceman 2nd Class / Private 1st Class Serviceman 1st Class / Corporal
NCOs
Service Chief Gunnery Chief Operations Chief
OFFICERS
2nd Lieutenant 1st Lieutenant Staff Lieutenant Lieutenant Commander Staff Commander Captain / Major Rear Admiral / General Admiral Fleet Admiral

I had no issue with them creating their own rank structure, but trying to make sense of the insignia... My train of thought was something like this for Anderson's insignia changes: - three bars when he was captain (me: ok) - three bars and a red stripe when he's an admiral (me: ok, I guess) - Admiral Anderson on Earth...two bars on his collar and four on his hat and armor (me: ...)

Sundance31us, that gif sums it up quite neatly. 😄 Something you did that the devs didn't bother with was include badges, medals, ribbons, etc...That immediately just feels more authentic. BioWare's uniforms look pretty good. When you added the badges, they started looking more real.

BioWare's uniforms look pretty good. When you added the badges, they started looking more real. Actually spend a bit of time on that. I didn't want to be disrespectful, so decided not to use actual ribbons. Instead they're all inspired by actual ribbons in conjunction with ME achievements. They are based on Shepard's background (generally) and his/her activities up to the opening scene in ME2. I tried to make it so that anyone using the textures could imagine the ribbons to be what ever they wanted with some being a bit more obvious than others (the light blue and white ribbon on the lower left for example). Since they were inspired by actual ribbons I used military rack builder to make sure they're placement was correct.
The ribbons on a military uniform tell a story and the gold rectangles on the vanilla uniform simply didn't work for me.

I thought it's was only going to sale "500000 copies" That was 5 million copies, thank you veeeery much. But, if you could put that EA statement about Mass Effect's performance to actual numbers, I'd be very much obliged. The NPD data would put it to approximately under 1 million copies sold in the NA and UK region and I'd expect a little less than another half that for the rest of the world. I'm guestimating around the 1.2 million copies mark worldwide, by week 6. Which means that, at launch, it did around 800k, which is what I had said. 500k for XSEX and 300k for PC and PS. Only the distribution was completely off, as ~80% of players bought it on PS.
What's concerting, is that Will Continue left Mass Effect, to invest on Jedi Fallen Order. Anyone catch that?

Like DAO and DA2 A remaster of DAO would be nice. I never played DA2 To me, DA2 was well-written but very grim. It was like the end of Empire Strikes Back with Han Solo frozen in carbonite and being shipped off to Jabba the Hut. I've actually heard some say Empire was the best written of the original trilogy so there we have it. Once I got past the lack of the Warden not being voiced, I realized it was an amazingly well-written game. Really came to love it. I do like DAI but it's focus was more on being pretty than being well-written. That doesn't even account for the Hinterlands.

Honestly DA2 is my favourite of the franchise. It’s short, flawed and 90% of the locations you visit are the same, yet the companions are brilliant! Plus you’re basically playing an average mook just trying to live their life in this crapsack world and everybody keeps looking to you for guidance- hilarious! Still, great news about MELE! Here’s hoping they patch in the multiplayer again!
