I agree that the initial draw of finally being able to play a story completely from the side of the Empire (that hasn't been done since the TIE FIGHTER games from Lucas Arts in 1993) was a big selling point and would have made for a very compelling story, so I can understand the disappointment at another "Imperial Defector" story. But in spite of that, I am still enjoying the story for how it fills in the gaps between ROTJ and TFA. You should check Star Wars: Squadrons story then, they let you play as Rebel and Imperial pilot interchangeably. Yes, I watched the gameplay movie for SQUADRONS just before BFII.....I enjoyed Squadrons as well. I would play it but I don't have a joystick or HOTAS and I'm not sure how well it would be play with a KB/M. But I liked the story and the visual well enough. Thanks.

Just finished the first three episodes of Arcane. It's based off of League of Legends, something I've never played. Judged the show on its own merits as a result though.
First and second episodes were alright but nothing groundbreaking. Third episode is great and has some impact, worth powering through if you find yourself on the fence, IMHO. The ending of this segment is actually quite good and a lot darker than I'd expect for a group of thieving kids in an animated show based off a moba.
Looks like it's being released in three parts, three episodes each, weekly.

Kings Affections, ep 9 Ok, I my head off at Yi Hwi's expression when the Queen Dowager discussed the crown prince's marriage. The King opposed it and it's clear why he does that; he doesn't want the Left Councilor (crown prince's grandfather) to gain more power should there be an heir. Of course, he doesn't know there won't be an heir! Anyway, the court is now clearly split; Left Councilor - maternal grandfather is the crown prince's mother's dad Right Councilor - father of the current Queen who has borne the King the second son and wants to put the second son on the throne Queen Dowager - grandmother of the crown prince, mother of the King, wants to her own clan to have more power That makes three freaking factions for Yi Hwi to juggle / face. Yi Hwi's intended bride is going to be the daughter of an official is in the Left Councilor's faction. Did the Queen Dowager pick her despite her father's alliance with the Left Councilor? As I suspected, the Left Councilor is indeed building up his own army. The King knows and wants his father-in-law, the Right Councilor, to build up his own army too, with his support. I can see a civil war breaking out. Once Yi Hwi becomes King, everything is going to h****. How is she going to resolve it? Ep nine focused too much on the tutor's confusion regards his feelings for Yi Hwi. Yi Hwi obliged him with a hug when he asked for it (he wanted to be clear about what he's feeling) which she shouldn't have done because she did it publicly. This would fuel palace gossips and hasten the marriage which she has been trying to delay. She let her feelings took rein which isn't helpful for her. I'd prefer it if there's emotional restraint for both parties instead of them seemingly unaware of where they're at. Yi Hwi especially as she ignores the danger she's in. This scenario is definitely unrealistic. I truly want to hit the tutor's head because he's just riding with his emotions.

Kings Affections, ep 10
Finally! Exposition on the King. He has a candid dialogue with Yi Hwi, explaining why he kept delaying her marriage. He spoke of his guilt in failing to protect his family. He didn't tell her everything but she knows of course. So despite his cold demeanor towards her seen in earlier eps, he does care for her. The question is; does he know she's the daughter and not the son? Nevertheless, he tells her to build an alliance with Minister Shin by marrying his daughter. Minister Shin is a upright loyal official and he will bring his own cadre and supporters if his daughter is the crown princess.
Yi Hwi does as her father asks her to do. She goes to see So-eun and they have a dialogue but I don't think So-eun will be the crown princess since another character is wearing the royal robe. I think she will end up as a friend and ally to Yi Hwi.
The marriage will definitely take place and this will cement Yi Hwi's position to inherit the throne. The Queen's faction will not be happy.
From the preview of ep 11, Prince Changun, Yi Hwi's uncle did something at So-eun's house. Likely he killed her maid. Yi Hwi who drops by, sees what happen and confronts the uncle. They have a public fight. I think the Queen's faction will send an assassin to kill Changun and blame the death on Yi Hwi. They will question the crown prince's moral right to the throne if she goes so far as to kill a relative.
However, it's already known Yi Hwi will be King (posters of the drama) so the question is; does she clear her name? Will the faction take this as an excuse to start a conflict once she ascends the throne?

Turkish historical drama; Muhteşem Yüzyl: Kösem
This historical drama is two seasons, 60 eps. It traces the life of Kösem Sultan who was born Anastasia of Greek descent. She was kidnapped at 15 and bought as a slave by an Ottoman official who had taken notice of her beauty. She was sent to the harem of Sultan Ahmed I. She would eventually become his legal wife and rose to become a powerful influential Sultana from 1623 to 1651 before she was assassinated.
It begins with a VO from Ahmed I. The day when his father ascended the throne, he and his elder brother were ordered to climb the Tower of Justice. There, they witnessed a row of coffins carried out in the courtyard. The day when a King ascends is the day when he has to kill his brothers.

Watched and finished Hot Stove League, kdrama 16 eps and the story revolves around Baek Seung-soo who was well known for managing three teams in different sports to win the championships. Yet after those teams win, they were disbanded. This time he's recruited to manage a baseball team that's last in the big league. With the help of Lee Soo-young, the first and only female operations manager in the League and her colleagues, they faced numerous problems and challenges and surmount them. For once, a drama entirely without romance! Pretty rare but my cup of tea. The main focus is on the main leads, how they clash at first and eventually work together to build a better cohesive baseball team for the next season. The characters and script are excellent. 👍

While waiting for Wheel of Time on AP and Obi-Wan etc on Mouse Minus....I briefly tried to start The Expanse again two nights ago, but comments about "just what the hell are you watching?" from my parents tuned me off of watching it again. I really am looking forward to series like Obi-Wan Kenobi (and especially the Ahsoka series) and even The Book of Bobba Fett and Madalorian Season 3 on Mouse Minus.
I'm also interested in The Witcher Season 2.

I just finished watching Season 5 Ep 17-20 fo CLONE WARS (and I cried -- again- when Ahsoka was put on trial and eventually walked away even after being cleared of all charges). That's truly a heart-breaking scene. When I first watched REBELS I jumped out of my seat when I saw her come back on screen and join the show, because she very quickly became a favourite character of mine...Right up there was Luke.
Her involvement in Season 7 really does bring the whole Clone Wars series to a very fitting final conclusion and beginning from the feature-length animated movie when Ahsoka was first introduced all the way through 7 seasons it is really amazing to see The fabled Clone Wars that we heard old Ben Kenobi speak of finally played out on screen.
As a child when I saw the scene in Ben's hut
"No, my father didn't fight in the Wars. He was a Navigator on a Spice freighter."
"That's what your Uncle told you. He didn't hold to your father's ideals, thought he should've stayed here and not gotten involved"
"You fought in the Clone Wars?"
"Yes, I was once a Jedi Knight the same as your father. He was the best star pilot in the galaxy and a cunning warrior (slight pause, quieter tone of reflection) and he was a good friend."
"I wish I'd known him."
I remember thinking as a kid I wonder what the Clone Wars was all about....? I can imagine these huge scale battles, Jedi everywhere. There's so much mystery and story.... But for many years we never got to see what the Clone Wars were about....Until 2008. I love the series because it fills in the gaps between Ep II and III (when Anakin and Padme meet in the halls and he talks about "ending the seiges in the Outter Rim" or something like that) then to see this animated series you get to know what he was talking about.
This is one thing I am enamoured with about STAR WARS is that the Universe is so big, with so many amazing characters....There's near countless stories that could be told and that are still waiting to be told. The possibilities seem limitless, but I especially respect when writers and designers stay true to the lore of what is already established even in the process of bringing their own ideas. Jedi: Fallen Order, The Mandalorian and even Battle Front II or SQUADRONS are great examples of expanding the universe and telling great stories while filling in gaps of established framework and canon.
I'm looking forward to the Book of Bobba Fett, Mandalorian Season 3 and the series about Ahsoka. I'm also quite intrigued by Patty Jenkins' X-Wing movie.

JUST finished watching Shan-Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings with my mom.....and we both really enjoyed it. Quite a good movie. Would actually consider buying it on Blu-ray to add to my collection, depending on price. If there's anyone who hasn't seen it, I would recommend it. And of course, it leads into the next Dr Strange movie..... "The Multi-verse of Madness".

Watched and finished Jun Jiuling, 40 eps, Cdrama
Story of a princess who discovered on her wedding day that the Emperor, her uncle, killed her father. She rashly confronted him at the royal court and tried to kill him. She was imprisoned. Her teacher, a physician rescued her but in the ensuing chaos, her cell caught fire and her master's daughter was killed instead. The princess's face was hurt in the incident and the physician healed her but her facial features are changed.
She went to learn medicine with her master but he died after accidentally falling over a cliff. He told her to assume his daughter's identity and go to the maternal grandmother who is the head of the Fang family that operates a prosperous medical business. There, she gained the trust of the matriarch and prevented a tragedy. From that point onwards, she worked steadily and eventually went to the capital. Her goal, to reveal the crimes of her uncle and root out corruption.
It's an enjoyable drama although the beginning is somewhat illogical, especially when the physician went to see the princess in prison. The main female character is well written nevertheless. Overall, the script, characters and direction are good.

Criminal Minds, Kdrama, crime and suspense. Story of criminal investigation, profiling division. The beginning is good. The chief profiler tries to discern if the bomber who had set a bomb at a building is telling the truth. The bomb squad is on site, disarming the bomb as per the bomber's instructions. At the critical stage, the chief profiler believes the bomber wants to detonate the bomb he wants to see people dying and does not care about his fate. He instructs the officer on site to bypass but his superior officer shouted at him and tells the officer to do the opposite. This results in the death of the bomb squad. A year later, the chief profiler is on another case with NCI. The division successfully captured a serial killer. A retired police commissioner calls the chief profiler and reveals that he had made a deal with a serial killer 10 years ago to protect his own family. Once he dies, the killer will start another spree of murders. This time, he will start with the chief profiler's family as he is the top profiler in the country. Using logic and with this legitimate information, what should the chief profiler do? Get his family under protective custody right? Nope. He doesn't do anything. HAHAHAHAHAAHA. 🤣 So of course in the next ep, after the killer killed his first victims, he goes to threaten the profiler's family. *Cue character fail for dramatics of missing young son* Come on. Minus Z!!! FAIL on the grading card! I hate writers for killing / degrading established character lore just to create stupid dramatics. I've seen it too often. A clever officer who's able to surmise where the criminals might be planning suddenly becomes stupid, couldn't recognise simple traps / tricks and ends up getting the wrong end of the stick three four times before he gets back his intelligence.

I'm in love with the opening credits of The White Lotus (HBO):
I haven't been this enamored with the score of a TV series since Utopia (the original UK series), which has a similar eerie mesmerizing main theme. The music is definitely the star of this series.
I've watched 2 episodes now and I love this dark comedy with an impeding sense of doom reinforced by the creepy beautiful music. The show opens with one of the rich guests of this luxary resort flying home. There's a body from that hotel on the flight. And I guess at the end we'll find out who died and how.
Seeing how things progress, there's a growing list of people who might snap. Staff or guests. Or maybe it will be an accident. I hope it's murder though.

Kdrama, Taxi Driver, Crime, Vigilante
Story of a taxi driver who seeks revenge on behalf of victims. The drama starts with a sex predator released under technical circumstances so he wasn't sentenced. Protestors and media gathered outside the prison. The sex predator got into the cab and told the driver he wanted to go to Busan. They set off, chased by a posse of reporters.
The taxi driver got rid of the posse with pre-arranged help and removed all the taxi tags from his car. The criminal then tried to strangle him from behind but the driver fended him off, finally nailing his leg down with a dagger when he kept attacking. He then drove off. The fate of the sexual predator is unknown but I would surmise he's dead.

I watched this again, because an offer was made to me today to have Jean Ratelle sign a jersey for me int he near future. This of course would have to be custom stitched (as all my jerseys are) to look exactly like the jersey he would have actually worn....just like I did when Vic Hadfield signed a jersey for me back in 2018.
I still remember that day...such an honour, a distinct pleasure. His (Vic Hadfield's) expression, his emotion.... He actually cried when he saw the jersey I had had made because it was exactly identical to the one he wore-- especially during his years as Captain from 1971-1974.
And of course, I would frame the new Ratelle jersey to match the hadfield jersey....complete with my 'Jean Ratelle' hockey coin from Sherriff Foods from 1961-1962. I just need to find space on the walls in my room. And get the jersey.
Details. Details. Minor details. But this will happen.

King's Affections, ep 11 Yi Hwi becomes King, under duress as I surmised. I like the writing in some parts of this story and dislike the other parts. The parts where the characters apparently have no foresight and no planning to resolve their problems and get out of their situation. It's like they're living for the present and have no thoughts of consequences. This is illogical.
