By the man who created 'Downton abbey'. We liked the first episode. Very much character driven drama with good characters. and loads of 'Upstairs/Downstairs' plotting. I love downton abbey and those type of shows, alas another program i would probably like but do not have access too.

the horror genre doesn't do much for me Same. I'm laughing at the points other people are gasping. Happens to me too. there are horror flicks I've enjoyed But they have to be well made with good production values. I'm still thinking that A81 is one of those rare exceptions. One of my all-time favourites. Also Alien. Sunshine almost made it but not quite.

Downton was fabulous. Too bad there's nothing worth paying for on HBO right now. I thought it was a bit of hit and miss. I liked the pilot a lot, but then the show felt diluted somehow.

I liked season 1 of Resident Alien. Was entertaining, pretty light stuff. D'Arcy was the standout performance for me. *** Bit mixed about ep1 of season 2. I didn't really get a lot of laughs from it. The script seemed to be playing catch-up and all the jokes fell a bit flat. I was glad Nathan Fillion cameo'd again though.
The mayor and wife didn't do much for me the whole show. A few quick scenes could've conveyed the info and made the jokes so much better. But the whole BDSM scene went on for a bit too long and their poor attempts weren't funny to me. I hate cringe-jokes. It's by far the least form of humour.
Harry's weird human-regression probably seemed funny in a writing room but didn't really land many jokes either.
D'Arcy, who is my fav, lacked her characteristic fuckit attitude. Or at least it didn't get to shine this ep.
Hopefully the season will progress, I know they have different writers and directors so things still have a chance to improve. But as is, season 2 got off to a false start for me.
*** Here's a few gifs I made last year just for the helluvit.

Watching HBO's Rome series, never watched it back when it came out but its every bit as good as advertised.
Very well cast, for the most part, and surprisingly historically accurate. Then again, you hardly need to embellish the story of Julius Caesar and the Roman civil wars, if anything they've left out some of the juicy details- we didn't Cato ripping his own guts out, for instance, or Caesar saying "et tu, Brute?". And they sort of did Cicero and Cleopatra dirty (the latter is basically just a sex freak).
But other than that its been spot on- I'm only sad they stopped after 2 seasons.

I rewatch it every once in a while. Exceptional casting. The stories were beautifully tragic and they didn't pull their punches. One of the most "human" shows I've seen. Pretty much everyone suffers from some personal failure that results in loss.
Also had some hilarious moments too. Titus and Lucius make a great duo. James Purefoy's 'Mark Antony" is a favourite as well.
Damn, almost wanna rewatch it again.

ROME was an excellent series. So too is MARCO POLO, and though I understand they stopped due to various Production reasons (the death of a crew memeber, for example) I am disappointed that they have not continued the series because there is still so much story to tell....and now, I'm sure they could find other people to fill the gaps in their roster (so to speak).

yeah, I really liked the guy they cast as Mark Antony. Really hit the nail on the head. I'm sure I'll go back and re-watch the series at some point, was definitely good enough to bear multiple viewings.

And has the additional benefit that most of the story actually happened. Such a crazy period in history (the end of the Republic through the ascension of Augustus), you almost can't make that shit up.

This weeks ep of Resident Alien (S2Ep2) was a 180° from the first episode. Hilarious, lots of great scenes and lines. Harry and Dan nailed it in particular. Dan is awesome just in general.

Last night I shamelessly started watching "Sweet Magnolias" Season 2 having watched Season 1 and quite enjoyed it. It's just a nice, light-hearted, good natured show. And well, the reason I started watching it is because of Heather Headley; many years ago, before she got her start as the original actor in the role of Nala of Broadway's The Lion King...she was a regular attedant of the church I went to in my teen years. The Lion King premiered on Broadway in October of 1997 after having its US National debut in Minnesota a few months earlier in July. I vividly remember the day she read aloud to the congregation the letter that was annoucing her acceptance into the Broadway cast and awarding her the lead role and the prestige of being the first person to portray the role. She cried happy tears and when we heard this news the whole place errupted in cheers and applause giving her a standing ovation. She was 22, maybe 23 at the time.
Then I'd lost track of her for years, didn't really know what she was doing outside of her involvement in Broadway. Then one day I found one of her music videos on Youtube. The song was called "I Wish I wasn't". So I learned that she was involved in the music scene after spending years on Broadway doing plays like "The Lion King", "Aida" and "Ragtime". Now it's nice to see her on "Sweet Magnolias", and she plays a wonderful down-home kind of character.

Since I'm ill at home, I have a lot of time to watch stuff. The last show, I watched was Feria - Dark Light. It's a Spanish mystery show and while I normally hold the spanish in high regard for their mystery movies and shows, Feria wasn't really that great. I'm not sure, if I watch season 2 tbh.
And I finally watched Saw Spiral - Saw is a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't normally like movies, that are that brutal, but the exeptions are the Saw and the Hellraiser franchise. Spiral was ok, but not great. I could see the twist from miles away coming and that is a bad thing in a Saw movie. And I really didn't care for the hiphop soundtrack. The actors were good and the story was not too bad. I missed Tobin Bell a bit, who was always a central element in all the other Saw movies.
And tbh, I was sad, that they didn't continue with Lawrence Gordon as the new Jigsaw. He made more sense than the dude in Spiral.

Peacemaker Spoilers up to ep 6. Specifically, a quick question for you DragonKingReborn . You think Waller has a butterfly? If not, she came up with an implausibly accurate fake diary for her daughter to plant on Peacemaker.
Should’ve known the team were wrong when they said she doesn’t know.
Waller always knows. She’s always 2 steps ahead.
***
The dad is next level scary, though. Between his Klan and the possessed cops and crims, the endgame on this thing could be wild.
I’m wondering what the captive butterfly was going to tell them before the jar broke. Was it a ploy to get free? Or is it really a case of we don’t know what they’re truly after?

I’m wondering what the captive butterfly was going to tell them before the jar broke. Was it a ploy to get free? Or is it really a case of we don’t know what they’re truly after? Yeah the peace sign and the yes/no thing seemed like progress. I was also thinking, she'd seen a lot of Peacemaker at his lowest. It seemed like empathy might be working but there wasn't enough to go on.
Her, er, forceful recruitment of the police-force and prisoners seems to indicate "no", but maybe he'll be able to talk her down, or on his side in some capacity...
I'm betting White Dragon will attack the Butterflies. Specifically because Goff their queen is in the Asian cop. In his mind it must be the perfect villain.

Yeah, he’ll likely not be able to resist that.
It might even end up being some kind of inciting event. He’ll arrive looking for Peacemaker and just strike Goff down because she was there, looking all Asian (how dare she). That will lead to a pitched battle with the butterflies.

Finished watching this series season 1 and 2 and needless to say is that is one of the worst series i've seen in my life. There is just sooooo much wrong with it that i could write a book about it. The second season i fast forward many times because i was done watching this crap. Interesting. I thought season 1 was excellent. A bit too liberal with the prison rape, but that aside; very good. The problem they had was what to do once they...you know, broke out of prison. Really, it should have wrapped mid-way through season 2. But then they were on the run. And then...well, just in case...you decide to make your life worse by watching more... ...they were in the mexican prison. And then they got out of the mexican prison... And then there was the Thing That Controlled The Weather And Started Everything In The First Place...you know *that old chestnut*. A classic example of not knowing what the finish line looks like before starting the race. My main reason is that there are just to many things that can go wrong and at some point they do go wrong. But it wouldn't be a "prison break" if at some point those things go right again. They just have to much bad luck and at the same time to much good luck. This series is so predictable i think the series only surprised me twice.
