Watched the first two episodes of Reacher on Amazon Prime last night. My wife loves the books, but I haven't tried them. I enjoyed the first Tom Cruise movie, but the second was completely forgettable.
This - so far - was very good. Ritchson's Reacher is far more believable than Cruise's, although Cruise is the superior actor. I'm endlessly amused by how short actors are, in general, though. According to his online bio, the guy is less than an "inch" - for the Americans here - taller than me, but he just towers over everyone and everything he comes into contact with. And I'm not a tall guy. He's built like a brick shit house, though, so I wouldn't argue with him.

And I did like Hank in Titans.

I might give it a shot. Was looking at it earlier. And I did like Hank in Titans. It's fairly standard fare, though done well. Not a lot of theory crafting opportunities in this series, I think, but it is fun so far. Ritchson's Reacher has a bit more damage than Cruise's did, but that's possibly just a symptom of TV having more time than movies do.

I finishes the first season last night. It's enjoyable. In the books R2acher is described as being 6'5" and 250 lbs. Tom Cruise wasn't anywhere near that, though he was the superior actor.
This actor in the series is also said to be 6'5, 250....But according to the actor's Bio on several sites he is only 6'2 and 200 lbs Though they cheated by finding other actors who were quite a bit shorter than him so they could sell the height difference.
Even Arnie at the height of his physical conditioning was only 6'2 and 230.... But definitely someone like Dolph Lundgren was truly 6'5" and 250 lbs.

Also watched Reacher over the last 1 week. Bit of a rollercoater ride I thought.
I had heard about the books (never read them), so i knew broadly about the character. Always seemed a bit like a 14 year old wrote him. I mean, massive drifter dude with military training, traveling the country, righting wrongs ... seems a little over the top, doesn't it? Well, I'll say this, the series did capture that very well and consequently, I thought it felt a little cheap/weird. However, I thought the writing was really well done. I am not big on murder shows but here they drew me in and the fact that the situation just keeps escalating from episode to episode kept me engaged. They also managed to give that character some depth and the fact that everyone comments on what a weird guy he is kinda lampshades the issues I had with it. In general, the supporting cast was also very good with Finlay probably my favorite character of the bunch.
Filming and action are pretty good as well, so by the middle of the season, I was really into it and thought it was a very nice action/crime show.
The last episode dampened this impression down a little though because I thought the conclusion (though kinda cool in terms of plot) and the climactic fight in particular were really over the top and went all out Schwarzenegger style.
But still, all in all, it surpassed my expectations. 8/10 pieces of peach pie.

Peacemaker ep7: Peacemaker drops two fuck-its in the first 5 minutes or so. And the first one was really good too. The dad tracking the helmets is a nice piece of writing. Very inline with his character, and highlighting one of Peacemakers flaws they've been building with his father.
Murn could've just stayed in the corpse for 5 minutes and hid. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, I was wrong about the white dragon and butterflies fighting apparently! Thought I had that in the bag. Harcourt was a good choice as leader. Moo...

I watched one of the worst miniseries ever made: "The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window"
I loved Kristen Bell in The Good Place. And I went into this having read that it's a satire of the genre. I thought, cool! Well, the ludicrous last episode sure was... But everything else was melodramatic and played dead serious. There was almost nothing funny about it to me. Didn't work at all as a satire for me.
Just awful all around. The only truly funny thing to me was how her handyman spent the entire series trying to fix a mailbox. Everything else was way too heavy handed on the psychological drama about loss. Yes, it was all kind of laughable how much wine she drinks and her rain phobia and all that. And how her daughter died was so over the top ridiculous. It just wasn't funny to me. AT ALL.
I should have turned it off after the first episode. Because I thought it was bad start to finish. Oh well. Me and my stupid compulsion to finish a story...

Strong episode.
Yeah, Murn could've played for time, unless there is some sort of ticking clock on them getting out of a dead sock puppet, maybe? If the brain doesn't have oxygen, neither do they-kind of thing?
Harcourt was the only choice as leader. I'm now wondering what "special skills" Waller Jnr had that mama wanted her on this mission. Unless it was purely "someone she could trust", but that seems weak. It's Waller. She puts bombs in peoples heads. She has ways of ensuring compliance from far more competent people.
Vigilante had a cool moment in the fight with White Dragon and that suit is serious business. He would've been a genuine threat to some of the All Star DC heroes.

Watched this *snip* movie for the 6th 7th time ( i lost count ) and love this movie. I can't get past the opening where you learn about her childhood. I've tried to watch it three times and for some reason I lost interest and they're not even out of Russia yet. Yeah that's indeed also one of my things that i don't like in the movie. The Black Widows just don't have a childhood whatsoever their lives starts when they were cured by that red dust. There is another reason that i've seen this movie that many times and that is that Scarlett finally got her own movie ... it was about time jeez. And the rest of the movie is in my opinion very good. Edit: if i was the Director i would have let Scarlett cut his head off to make sure he's REALLY dead.

I also watched Reacher, it was a hell of a lot of animal feed. I've read a couple of the books, though not the Killing Floor, the show really captured the feel of reading one of the books in my opinion. As for the ending being too action oriented, this was only ever ending one way, with the modern day knight errant sending the baddies to hell. No nuance need apply. Haha.

One of my favs, Genndy Tartakovsky's "Primal" will be airing new eps this summer. Here's my source on reddit, from twitter. (lol...) I also left a comment on there I'll repost, my take on the tweet and the question posted in the title on the reddit comment.
***
What do you think they mean by “more human?”" I think they're actually being a bit literal here.
It will be a more human story because the antagonists will primarily be human. Last season the antagonists were mostly animals, creatures, or monsters of some variety.
Because the antagonists (and potential allies?) will be human, we'll also naturally get a more "humane" story. Their motivations will be more complex. There's depth and nuance they can get with a complex human character pitted against another that they can't quite achieve with a monster. (Albeit I think I enjoy the creature-stories more than the humans. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
We'll get introduced to a new culture or two, society, art, relationships, weapons, technology, the whole gamut of human complexity.

Finished Reacher last night. Really enjoyed it. I was a bit worried Neaghly (Neely? Whatever, his SI/PI buddy) was going to be the obligatory good guy fatality. Wife thought it was going to be the bankers wife. Happily, we were both wrong. Plenty of action and all of it was done really well.
Rosco getting tossed around by fat sheriff/mayor was a bit nerve wracking, though. 7/10. Will watch 2nd season if one is forthcoming.

I saw Apple's adaptation of Foundation recently. I haven't read Asimov's books but as I understand it they made quite a lot of changes in the TV show. Nevertheless I quite liked it, will definitely check season 2 when it arrives. And if I ever get myself to finally read the books I wont get spoiled.

Yep, the series barely has anything to do with the books to be honest. Some characters (most importantly Salvor) are almost the polar opposite of what they were in the books (and I am not talking about the gender).
Even still, taken on it's own, it was a very good scifi show, I agree. Looking forward to season 2 on that one.
EDIT: By the way, we had quite a bit of discussion about the show when it was coming out in this thread, if you are interested.

I just finished watching the newest trailer for the latest expansion of SWTOR...And this trailer doesn't disappoint. Like all the others it delivers an amazing (and heart breaking ) story, stunning visuals and compelling (and deceitful) characters.
I've never played the game but the Cinematics alone, Darth Malgas once again masterfully undermines and subverts the teachings of the Jedi in a most scary fashion. Everything the Jedi says, Malgas twists it until the Padawan doesn't know who to believe. Then Malgas kills the Jedi and leaves the Padawan in a fight for her life

Watched an episode of two different shows last night. 'La Brea' - A sinkhole opens in LA. Ok, normally disaster stuff is the domain of movies. Maybe it's just a framing device for the characters and their lives? Nope. Space magic. Getting strong 'Lost' vibes from Navy Seal/Doctor who knows everything "If we don't learn to live together, we're going to die alone". Might watch one more ep if the wife liked it, but currently I'm giving it the same response I gave Twitter and Spotify when they tried to get me to follow Joe Rogan.

About Catherine the Great of Russia when she was very young.
Just excellent. The main actress nailed both youthful naivety and driven intellectual socialite at the same time. Nic Hoult is hilarious as Tsar Peter.

We finally got to see what Adebayo brings to the table. Girl has got some headshot game.
The butterflies were trying help...go figure.
The cow is beyond disgusting.
Glad Harcourt survived. She's cool.

Finally saw Reacher, so a few comments: Ritchson's Reacher is far more believable than Cruise's, although Cruise is the superior actor. Agreed. Ritchson was a bit jaded at first, but he stepped up, and kind of grew on me. Always seemed a bit like a 14 year old wrote him. I've only read one of the books, and it was so forgettable I don't remember what it was. Something murder, Reacher slapping some bad guys. It happened in the South, so may have been The Killing Floor. The Peacemaker helmets are OP. Plz nerf. Fuck you, Barry. Best season ending I've seen in a while.
"Fuck it, no more kaijus. No more kaijus."
I'm starting to feel bad for the cow... For some reason I assumed there'd be some security in the helmets requiring Peacemaker to be wearing them. (Regardless of their makers current life-status.) I personally think Eagley did an exceptionally good job, all things considered. He was off target but he got the concept as a whole. He figured out to carry and drop the helmet.
Dye-beards brutal honesty was a nice moment.
So the Butterflies were good, just misguided. More like, "PETA: we'll kill the animals before we let you harm a hair on them!" mentality. Basically a mirror to highlight Peacemakers own failings. They both took vows that boil down to, "the ends justify the means."
I'm glad I got Goff's feelings right, on her time spent with Chris. Figured she'd be empathetic. "Activate human torpedo" - Adebayo, "wut?" Okay, now I really do feel bad for the cow. Aquaman, "mermaids don't count." Barry, "which half?" "Fuck you, Barry."
Seemed like Vigilante deserves to be BFFs after Eagely to be honest. He's pretty solid, all things considered.
Waller's bug no beuno? I was pretty sure but I guess the diary was just an execution/wrap up tool to get rid of Peacemaker? Her knowing to plant it still seems bloody weird. The last words we hear, aside from song lyrics, are "FUCK IT FUCK IT AHHHHH GOOOO FUCK!"
Wondering if that was the last of the amber or not. Goff's gonna be hungry soon. Some good news, Season 2 is already ordered.

Best season ending I've seen in a while. Agreed. Really entertaining and - typical of Gunn - with more emotion than you necessarily would've given it credit for. I'm starting to feel bad for the cow... Oh man - yeah. That thing was creepy but it seemed harmless enough. I personally think Eagley did an exceptionally good job, all things considered. He was off target but he got the concept as a whole. He figured out to carry and drop the helmet. Eagley for series MVP.
"Activate human torpedo" - Adebayo, "wut?" We were laughing so hard the first time she used it that we totally missed Goffs reveal about mistaken intentions and had to rewind a bit. ...yeah. This is the one 'I don't get it' part of the whole series. If she didn't have a butterfly, then how the hell did she just 'know' to plant that on him? Wondering if that was the last of the amber or not. Goff's gonna be hungry soon. If they were able to recover some of the already milked honey, then Goff might be OK for a while yet, but that's a big 'if'. Some good news, Season 2 is already ordered.
