Started "THE EXPANSE" Season 1 on Prime tonight....It's a little weider and more confusing than I thought. A bit hard to follow at first, I guess because I'm not familiar with it like I was BSG. That too was a little weird...good weird, like SCI-FI weird....and I enjoyed BSG right up to the half way point of Season 3. Never did finish it, not sure i plan to. But Seasons 1 and 2 I thoroughly enjoyed. I was hoping for something along those lines. I'll keep plugging away, try to get into it a bit more. But as I don't really understand it, I find I am easily distracted then not paying attention to what else is going on. But...I'll keep trying. Gonna watching Ep 2 and maybe 3 tonight. Trouble is I like a lot of the actors/actresses in it. Admiral Shala'ran Vas'Tombay (Shoreh Agdashloo) is in it, which immediately caught my attention in the trailer and Thomas Jane, (Mickey Mantle from *61 and The Punisher) is also in it. I wonder what it is about the Expanse you find weird? The pacing? The way it was filmed? The factions? The proto-molecule? BSG was pretty good in the early seasons and then it went weird. The fighting stuff is about the only thing I enjoyed towards the end.

Maybe it's my hearing loss, I'm not following what is being said, what is happening....And maybe I'll have to watch the episodes more than once to really understand what is going on. But for right now, I think it is the factions....I don't follow who's-who and what side they're on or what side is supposed to be the Good or Bad Guys.

The Expanse is one of my favourite series of books and TV Shows. It's a bit of a slow burn for the first three episodes as they introduce characters and plot but well worth sticking with.

Maybe turn the volume up But for right now, I think it is the factions....I don't follow who's-who and what side they're on or what side is supposed to be the Good or Bad Guys. That's one of the great thing about the story, the complexity of the factions (Belters, Earthers, Martians) and the factions within factions. You'll get it.

FYI there is an Expanse thread if you are interested Unfortunately it's very spoilery, particularly in the book spoilers that go past the TV series that I don't want to know. Eventually I got tired of tiptoeing around the minefield. *** Started "THE EXPANSE" Season 1 on Prime tonight....It's a little weider and more confusing than I thought. Expanse has been a weird show for me too. At first I found it entertaining but bland. I am glad I stuck around for the ride though. It's a slow acceleration up to halfway through season 2. Then shit hits all the fans. Season 3 is amazing.

Finished Hyena (kdrama).
Story of two lawyers who're different from each other in their respective occupation. Guem-ja comes from a difficult background and is self-employed, running her own lawyer office with the help of an assistant. She's smart, crossing the boundaries of law and lawlessness, justice and injustice, ethics and corruption to achieve success. Hee-jae is her opposite. He comes from a well to do background, has an ego and confident of his abilities. He's employed in a company that works for the rich. However, he lacks Guem-ja's tenacity and acumen to think outside the box and is often outwitted by her. The two initially clashed until Hee-jae's boss decided to employ Guem-ja, intending to use her as a card that could be thrown away when needed. Despite the run-ins he has with Guem-ja, the two eventually began to work together.
The focus in this drama is mainly on the cases and how they're resolved, interweaving with the corruption in the company.
The romance between the two leads is secondary but it is interesting. It's not the usual format of both leads going gooey lovey dovey. Hee-jae formed the wrong impression when Guem-ja told him she does what she does for the money. Nevertheless, he still likes her as she's astute and unpredictable. He would learn of her difficult youth and revise his opinion. Guem-ja herself has no interest in having boyfriends and forming any permanent relationships due to her experience with her parents. Still, she likes Hee-jae. The two eventually understand how they feel about each other but the shine / strength of their relationship is their combined ability to resolve their cases.

Finished episode 6 of The Nevers, which as it turns out, is all they've made, so far.
Apparently it was planned to be a 10 episode series but the pandemic and Joss Whedon being unmasked as a bit of an arsehole caused a change up, so it will be two 6 episode seasons.
Definitely interesting; a bit of a pay off for a random comment by Amalia in the first episode and some insight as to how things went so very wrong for some of the characters.
Overall, a solid season, but given they've not yet shot anything for season 2, the wait may be fatal in terms of my attention, since I've recently turned to Black Sails and there is season 4 of The Handmaids Tale (although I worry for that show as it is now well beyond the book and we've seen what prestige TV can do when it runs out of source material).

Today I started "CLoak and Dagger" on Mouse Minus, not sure if I'm going to continue...could hardly get half way through the Pilot. Then I tried "Terra Nova" (with Stephen Lang), and I'm enjoying that much better. Started both while putting a Mountain of Laundry away. I think along with "The Expanse" on PRIME, I am also going to watch Terra Nova.
I really do want to watch The Bad Batch...But there's only three episodes uploaded/aired so I will wait till there is more so that I'm not left hanging and with withdrawal till next Friday and every week after.

Have watched the first three of The Nevers so think I'll just out that on hold till they do another series. Really enjoying Shadow and Bone, if you like The Nevers and whilst they are fairly different but a similar sort of, how do I put it, it's a magic in a realistic world type theme in terms of the warfare going on and the technology.

Despite sounding obvious, I recommend you turn the subtitles on. The Belters have their own slang, which is at times hard to follow, and some of the names have been futurized, or are otherwise difficult (like Chrisjen Avasarala).

Been watching Clone Wars and enjoying it. I'd watched a bit back around the time it was airing but never really got into it. Star Wars officially came out with a chronological order that I'm primarily using, while referencing this for important arcs. Still watching them all but the ones that aren't mentioned on that list are more likely to turn into background as I multi-task. Going to burn through this, let Bad Batch get ahead a bit, then start that. I liked the first ep. Set some time aside for tomorrow and the next day, going to finally binge the hell out of Love Death + Robots Season 2. Finish The Nevers then too. I'm enjoying it but given all the BS around Whedon it's been bittersweet. I'm not invested in it. Not like I was in Angel, Buffy, Firefly, and Dollhouse. Been keeping up with Final Space season 3. Wasn't super invested in the beginning of the season but it's moving along well. The last few episodes have had quite the emotional gut punches similar to season 1. Great work for what initially seems like one more flaky amusing animated show.

Really enjoying Shadow and Bone I liked it but it's adapted from YA (young adult) novels and I could tell partway through. It's kind of straightforward about things. I found it a tad too predictable. That being said it was entertaining and pretty. For my part the whole show was anchored by Ben Barnes performance. He's become a favourite of mine since he nailed his nuanced roles in Westworld and Punisher. This show really highlighted his presence. He seems to dominate the room whenever he's onscreen and I don't just mean his height or character. I'd love to see him in a lead role that takes advantage of his experience.

Finished, Live Up To Your Name (fantasy, medical drama, comedy, romance)
Story of a well known Joseon doctor, Heo Im, who was transported to modern day South Korea after he messed up with the acupuncture treatment on the King. He met Yeon-kyung who's a modern day surgeon. During the course of their constant run-in with each other, they ended up bouncing back and forth between Joseon era and modern day together. Heo Im realised the teleports happened each time he died and the reason he took Yeon-kyung with him was because he was protecting (in contact with) her from danger in each incident. He would also find the cause of his teleports was the pouch of acupuncture needles his master, Heo Jun, had given to him.
During the course of this journey, in his interaction with Yeon-kyung, Heo Im would come to realise his flaws. He made the decision to return to Joseon to help the people who were suffering from the strife of the Japanese invasion (first invasion) and told Yeon-kyung he's not returning to modern day Korea.

Finished with Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and, I have to say, that was some great fucking television. And to think I preferred Babylon 5 much more, at the time. So now I'm hungry for some Babylon 5. But since I don't have Amazon for it, I'll take a Treak (that's a Trek Break) with Shadow and Bone. Next options are Star Trek ... Star Trek ... sorry, getting a little queasy, Star Trek Discovery, oof, glad that's out of the way, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: The Animated Series.
Now, usually, I watch Star Trek alongside my cat, who just loves the Enterprise, but if I'm going to watch Discovery, I can't condone watching it alongside him, because that's animal cruelty.
My cat likes Sci-Fi for some reason. We watched season one of Westworld together. But he didn't like it from season 2 and on. I kinda share his opinion.

Because of my fluctuating hearing loss, I always have subtitles on anyway. Even with a Yamaha 5.1 channel surround sound system we use when watching blu-rays, I always have subtitles on. Our TV in the Livingroom is a 40 inch Sony LCD that we bought from Costco. Really nice picture but that sound is horrible, 3 watt rear-firing speakers mounted in the back of the TV which sound horrible because they project the sound away from the viewer. So instead we use a 350 watt 3.1 channel sound bar from Samsung which actually sounds really good, but still I prefer to have subtitles on as well.

If you're into Stephen Lang and some bitching martial arts fighting scenes, if you haven't seen it, Into the Badlands fits the bill.

Yeah, I thought you might have subtitles on already.
Flat screen TVs have terrible sound quality for sure. But hey, instead of buying just the TV, you can now buy a soundbar to go with it!

I've always watch "Into The Badlands" but never been able to make my thumb press the PLAY Button. Not sure why.
